This is a bit of a long shot, but bare in mind Rory Donnelly has returned to Swansea and we could do with another option up top, Freddy Adu the former American Wonderkid is about to go on trial with Blackpool, a free agent currently as well, If you were Pressley would you consider moving in for him?

If I were playing FM06/07, then definitely.

I don't know much about why he's not fulfilled his potential. If SP saw it as a good move, I'd say yes.

No, we need a tall experienced front man, I hate the man but of a Kevin Davies ilk.

yeah he would really fit our pressing play.....................................

just because SP said experienced doesnt mean he wants someone that doesnt fit his tactics.

If I remember correctly the law is, if they're awesome on FM we sign them up :D

It's a good question, I remember he had a trial at Man Utd then he signed for Benfica and just dropped off the edge of the earth really.

Kevin Davies has been a proven goal scorer through out his career. I don't know why you hate him but do you know this....

As a teenager his parents were so poor they could not buy him any boots. The Manager of his local team bought him boots so he could play and he has never forgotten that.

For this reason, at Southampton and Bolton (probably PNE as well), he is always involved in local community projects coaching football to kids. Especially in the deprived areas and estates. Has never forgotten his roots, gets my vote as a top man.

Good point (I agree) except he is a quality player, plays for top 5 team and tore us to shit a few weeks ago. Also hence why I said "someone like him"

People just like to argue which is a shame.

I like the player good record etc but comes across on the pitch as a wanker, I don't know him personally.

Lots of players with a real competitive edge do. I hated David Speedie until he came to Cov. When it is you they are battling for it all seems different.

I've posted this before but I met the Fella back in 2001 in London, he was on a stag do with some of his old mates from Chesterfield. He was really nice, articulate and down to earth lad. I doubt he's changed that much. He's a physical player and that can attract unwanted critics from away supporters but the lad has been successful and grateful for his chance !

Kevin Davies comes across as a nice guy and is a physical forward (which doesn't make him a wanker). Unfortunately he really doesn't fit in with our pressing play. Our forwards have to be mobile and able to close people down quickly.

You can't have one player who doesn't press and the rest pressing - it doesn't work. The man they should be pressing would always be left open and the others pressing would be wasting their time and their heads would drop. If the guy next to you isn't putting the work in you naturally think 'sod this'.

Pressley has built a good, high pressing unit. Players like Davies don't fit.

***Back to Freddie Adu; it's totally down to Pressley's thoughts on him. I haven't seen him play - just know about the hype from when he was playing in the MLS aged 14. He's supposedly pacey so could fit if he's any good.

A) Adu is probably not the age he says he is, if you delve deeper in the wonderful world of this here internet
B) Has anyone seen him play?
C) We can only judge him on getting binned off by everyone because he wasn't as good as the original hype suggested
D) We might as well sign Ali Dia

As much as you might laugh Robo, I'm 100% certain that I heard of a lower league manager once signing a player for his club, purely based on the recommendation of his sons FM feedback. That is 100% a true story but for the life of me, I can't remember who or which club. Was in the last 5 or 6 years though.

I bet that's not the only case either. To be fair, if you were a clubs scout, it's probably a good database to use!

To be honest Weeman it sounds like something I'd do to be honest!

Anyone remember Matthew Etherington and Simon Davies at Peterborough in the late 90s? When I was a kid they were the first two you'd always sign. Then George Graham signed them both for Spurs on the same day. I'm convinced it's because of FM.

I'm not going through the Nii Lamptey letdown again. I'm also against the signing of Tonton Zola Mokouko.

Lets sign Cherno Samba while were at it

I will never forget the day he scored his 1st competitive goal against us from off the bench at the Ricoh...as soon as his name was announced I just knew it would happen. Think it was for Millwall but could be wrong... Don't think he ever scored again after that..probably works in tescos now. Although it did justify all my years of signing him on FM ;)

think it was for Plymouth! Used to sign him all the time on FM, never heard of him again after that goal! John Fleck was another great prospect from FM a few years ago, couldn't believe it when he signed for us!

A) This is a valid point. Pretty much why African sides always do well in the U20 World Cup. Read somewhere that at a recent tournament 18 of the 23 man (think it was Nigeria) squad withdrew when FIFA insisted on using wrist scanners to determine age. It's been suggested Taribo West's in his 60s, Kanu's in his 50s and Essien's 5 or 6 years older than his 'official' age.

Brendan Guilfoyle said when he sold Moses to Wigan it was not known how old he was as he didn't have a birth certificate!

Love that Yakubu is only 31! The best one I've heard of was the lad Palace signed a couple of years ago. They have a scout who literally spends his day sitting outside Croydon immigration centre and he bought into the club a 15 year old lad with a beard. They spent a fortune on him giving his family a house etc. One day he left the country without notice and he was never seen again. Until a few weeks later another refugee (who had been picked up by another scout at Croydon imagration centre a few days before) with a completely different name and birthday but looked remarkably similar to their protégée turned up at Palace's academy with Man City to play their U18s!
