People are banned from going on the pitch, he went on the pitch...End of story? He should be punished fairly and get the average ban that other people from around the country get, nothing to do with his shirt.

I know of three Ccfc fans who are banned one for life but goes to every game regardless . I'm sure Alan ( Muki ) Howe will still attend games. I fully support him as he as been pushed too far by SISU .

Reading some of the crap on here makes me laugh, the guy did wrong, give him a year or two ban but thats it. At least he had the balls to do it as opposed to those who sit behind a keyboard and berate those that are standing up for what they believe. Also the next fan to run on the pitch, can you please where a stripe suit and a bowler hat so as not to have a sitgmata with being a hooligan or a nazi.

The nazi part of this isn't because he ran on the pitch. It's because there is a picture he himself has uploaded to facebook of a load of people doing nazi salutes and the title is 'TileHill Skinheads'

SISU's punishment to this guy is completely separate to the fact he committed a criminal act, thats for the police and courts to deal with, weather or not they have acted spitefully we will never know though they have chosen the highest penalty they could give for what was one of the least aggressive pitch invasions I've ever seen.
The fact it's a criminal act is kinda ridiculous to be honest, it does seem like it's big money talking in making something illegal that never would be otherwise. Though it is possible I'm being harsh there and its down to wanting safer grounds due to bad things happening in the past.
It's very likely he will receive just a slap on the wrist from the courts, or a small fine, he was standing up for what he believes in when passions are running high and there was no malice or threatening behaviour, seems to be in these cases the courts are normally lenient.
He absolutely did deserve a ban and he absolutely should have expected a ban, the punishment is stupidly harsh though, we have a drugs cheat playing for us (admittedly not a particularly serious drugs cheat), we had marlon playing for us, the fact that Lee hughes etc can not only watch football games but play in them at a high level makes a mockery of a lifetime ban (and I realise this is indefinite which isn't quite the same thing) for running onto the pitch and putting no one in any danger and leaving peacefully.
A small fine from the courts, half a weeks wages or something and an 18 month ban would have been more than punishment enough to discourage others, punishing disrupting the game and for the club to show the fa they are acting so the club dont get punished.
It's very sad to see though this seems to once again be down party lines, so little objectivity around at the moment.

That's not it mrbluesky87, if I smash the window's of someone's house those residents would want me to feel the full extent of the law for breaking it, how is what Alan did any different? The FA will want to make sure that Alan is punished to the extent of the law, pitch invaders are a lottery you have the type like Alan who make a scene or you have the type who punch Goalkeepers in the face, as you never know which one is coming, all must be banned with the same ban to prevent it happening again.

I'm sure his legal representative will point out he didn't run away didn't resist didn't attack anyone it was a visual protest. Thousands of fans were protesting. "It is a very complex and emotional situation at Coventry for the fans. He now realises something that he chose to do on the spur of the moment was an error of judgement." Hopefully he has no other football related offences and can evidence good character.

He knew what was coming and by the letter of the law should expect a banning order.
I'd like to see some leniency considering the extraordinary circumstances all fans are under at the moment and the lack of any actual trouble. Just saying that I didn't see this much of an attack on the kids who ran on at the start of the season, or those at was it Shrewsbury? or MK earlier in the season.
I'm not saying the banning order has anything to do with anything, just questioning why someone would come on and repeatedly try to spread dirt on the guy unless they have an agenda.
And at the risk of saying "he started it" he did in fact start it by trying to link him to the Sixfields row/the Hillers. Taking the thread off topic (again) and (again) nothing is done about it. Personally I don't give a shit, but considering the whining from a certain group on here about thread derailing and un-called for attempts at dividing the fan base, I think it's a little rich.

Crap yet again. If im in a 40 mph limit and I get done for speeding at 46mph and at the same time someone drives by at 90mph are you suggesting we both get exactly the same punishment for speeding????
Please, 1 to 2 years is more than enough. The thing with the justice system is that every case is heard individually hence why not all get the same punishment.

Except that you haven't. If all clubs were obliged by law to apply indefinite bans to any and every pitch invader you'd have a point, but you know what, they're not.
If you, personally think that he should have had an indefinite ban, then that's fair enough. But let's not pretend that our owners were legally obliged to hand that down to him.
Robo's point is at least well made, without the need for all the emotion. The FA have undoubtedly asked the owners to all that they can to stop pitch invasions - whether that means a ban that could in effect be for a lifetime is unclear, but I'd have thought something in line with what the court hands down would probably suffice.
Of course, technically speaking the club isn't doing all it could do to stop pitch invasions. If they moved back to the Ricoh, I doubt anyone would want to run on and protest at playing in Northampton. Maybe someone should tell the FA?

If the law states that it is a criminal offence and as such the offender can be given a lifelong ban, then the courts can and probably will enforce it.

But I did it most seasons when we survived relegation on the last game.
To be fair they were different times and different situations.
But you still see that going on every season some where in the country so yes if it illegal ban them all

Of course not and if people run on the pitch and punch a player they should be banned for longer, the same as if they punch a steward on the way out they should get longer who somebody who was peaceful. You can't argue with that.
No thats a stupid argument, trespassing on someone's land is a minor crime, if while committing that minor crime you do something major like stab someone then you have commited a major crime. Just because you did that doesn't make the minor crime anymore serious. We shouldn't be asking stabbing victims how we should punish people for trespassing. Distruping a football match peacefully shouldn't be a crime at all though it should get you banned from stadia for a while depending on the seriousness.
The guy that assaulted kirkland has what is arguably a shorter banning order than the Coventry fan though, 6 years vs indefinite, the wolves fan who also had cocaine on him got a 3 year ban.

no they probably won't as you can see from other punishments from the courts from much more serious and much less understandable breakings of that rule. He will likely get a short ban and small fine, perhaps just the fine. He absolutely should be punished to the same level other similar acts have been, thats whats fair.
Im still kicking myself for not buying a couple of seats from that place.
