Well, I should hope the "outraged" on here will be contacting the Council and ACL and demanding that the Ladies team pay a substantial fee and contribute towards the £14M taxpayers put into the Arena last year.

If the stadium is not being used but still being maintained the incremental cost to put on a game is minimal.
I would say for the smaller games its just the centre of the main stand that is used and the bar facilities behind are already open at the time. I would say costs would be covered by F&B.

What they could do with is a tenant that would get 10 thousand through the gate the F & B from that would cover costs and then some! Plus parking and even local businesses would benefit.
They could let them play there for free. Anyone know of one?

Theres more to the complex than just football.
The loan to CCC is just a normal everday business loan and when we see the accounts we will know how ACL are doing.

All depends on what crowds the team is attracting. Fees would be less and rent would need to be right.
For example, if CCFC did fold or permanently move and everyone was on the same page then would be ok. With current divided opinion, no chance.

I could never support a phoenix club regardless; if the current club goes under I'm done. It won't be Cov as I know it anymore. I'd probably join mates watching the Blues, Villa and Burton, maybe a once a season trip to watch somebody top class like Arsenal too. I'd never support another team though, be about watching football.

I think I feel the same, but I I could get carried away wth a Coventry team climbing through the leagues. Who really knows ?
Of course once CCFC have gone geographically or financially.

As the Ricoh pitch is being maintained anyway the cost of putting on games with a low attendance can't be much can it? You would need to see how it compares to owning your own non league ground. For all we know maintenance etc at Sphinx could work out at £1K a game and they could get the Ricoh for the same amount.
Unless someone has all the figures in front of them it's impossible to know if it's viable but a lot of people seem to assume for some reason that the costs of putting on a non league or ladies game in front of a couple of hundred is the same as putting on a L1 match in front of 15K!!!

Technically right but we’re as much a ‘franchise team’ as MK Dons. You can also add that we’re a Phoenix one to boot.
The old CCFC was to two company structure consisting of Coventry City Football Club (Holdings) Ltd which was the historic club and dates back to 1907 and Coventry City Football Club Ltd which was the football club since 1996. This club no longer exists with CCFC Ltd in liquidation and ‘Holdings’ not in the footballing loop.
After the football club went into liquidation the Football League allowed Otium to acquire some of the assets of the old CCFC Ltd and to use the name of Coventry City Football Club. Although not strictly a franchise agreement as the rights transferred to Otium but it was a movement of ‘branding rights’ along with the Golden Share in the Football League. There’s a strong argument that this is as much a franchise agreement (for as long as you’re allowed the Golden Share) as any KFC, McDonalds or Subway.
As far as I’m concerned the CCFC I supported and had shares in is gone. We’re a definite phoenix club that the Football League have allowed to rise and play miles from home. The owners are the worst in the clubs history and all we can expect is more misery from these people for years to come.
The facts suggest that you might already be supporting a Phoenix club – it’s just using the same name as before so it's difficult to spot...

What a load of tosh. The majority of clubs in the football league and PL will have changed company structures and ownership since football league began. Are they all Phoenix's?
You're using a technicality in terms of company structures to meet your agenda.

My point is fans don't want SISU getting the Ricoh because of the poor tax payer, yet don't mind the place sitting their empty or ACL hiring out the place dirt cheap to other teams that are nothing to do with COventry. ACL still have to pay the bills regardless. Where's the sympathy for the poor tax payer now?

Voice of Reason, my take is that if this Northampton debacle rolls into another season you'll have people running through walls to see a Coventry team playing at the Ricoh.
I know it isn't nice to think of it - but how many years of this stupidity is any City fan prepared to endure?
Think it was Rich87 who said it may be our only way out of this madness and free ourselves of Sisu.
We are between a rock and a hard place. BUT, and I really STRESS this, it would be a CONTINGENCY plan, with the ultimate aim of forcing Sisu's hand. I've stressed this so many times. Quite a few who jump in opposition completely ignore that aspect.
So please don't sidetrack the issue by questions on finance etc. Willy Stanley probably didn't concern himself too much with that aspect. He just went for it.
Our team play in another town. We've been hijacked. Stolen. Unless Sisu see sense in the close season this club will collapse.
Let's reclaim CCFC. The league & FA aren't interested. I don't think there are a 100 City fans prepared to wait 5 years/forever. I'm not.

You obviously don't have much understanding of what has gone on with Coventry City over the last few years. And very little of changes in corporate structures at other clubs.
Many other clubs have changed their corporate structures over recent years to separate their 'stadium' ventures from the football clubs. Bristol City is a good example when they separated the football club from Aston Gate a few years ago when Aston Gate Ltd was brought into the corporate structure. Like many clubs this happened under the same ownership. These clubs are not Phoenix clubs - although you seem to think they are.
For me, a Phoenix club is a new company (NewCo) that buys the assets of a previous club - usually after administration or liquidation. Most of the time they leave non-footballing debt behind. I would suggest that Portsmouth are a Phoenix club in the same way that we are. I understand the Football League wanting their competition to have some continuity so they allow this. It's also part of an administration process when assets (including brands) are sold to third parties. It is very difficult for the Football League to deny this as it is lawful in an administration or liquidation. The point that you missed is that the club I supported for years is no more.
And we're nothing like MK Dons? The proposal of a permanent move outside of Coventry but keeping the 'Coventry City' brand. You may be right. It seems we're half way there already... Just a matter distance...

Of course a Pheonix club isn't if a different ltd company takes over the ownership, it is when the whole club (the name, badge, etc) is gone, so something new is sorted.

I thought the Football League confirmed that the whole of Coventry City Football Club was in administration? It seems that we fit the definition perfectly... Many thanks for proving the point.
Our owners were successful in obtaining all of the branding rights, the badges etc. whereas other aren't. Other than that we're guilty!!
TBH, I respect both sides of this. I understand fans want a club to support and I respect that. The Coventry City being supported now is not the same one as before...

Nonsense. When a club is liquidated it has to change its name and restart in the lower pyramid. Newport, Chester etc. the notion that Leicester city is a Pheonix club is bonkers.

It may be, but it's still true that the FL removed the GS from CCFC Ltd who went bust and handed it with certain strings to a new company who also bought the name and rights from Ltd.
But then I suppose by that argument we were a new club in 2001 when we regained the GS under (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) a different company name to the one in 1995 when we gave it up to go into the PL.
