Apologies if this has been posted but just read this on GMK. If true it's not totally surprising but still left me shocked at what they were prepared to do

Speaking to a colleague today who told me something interesting, if not suprising.

I work in Ipswich and when my colleague learned I was a Cov fan, said he has a client who used to play golf with Paul Clouting. My colleague, who it must be said has no affiliation and not much knowledge on Cov, said that Paul was courted by Cov for months to join the board, apparently they were desperate to get him in. During these discussions SISU asked him how they could get out recouping the £30,000,000 they invested (He used these actual figures and like I say, he knows nothing of Cov) They asked him if they could sell off players who may yield a fee and play the reserves and youth players until they find a buyer. To which Clouting advised them not to as they would be relegated and there asset would depreciate further. He said Paul could not believe some of the stuff they were asking and accepted the post only as they offered a rediculous package.

Not exactly earth shattering or even suprising information but considering the source and the fact he knows nothing about cov as an Ipswich fan, I believe this is probably how it went down. Now we know for definate that our club is run by a bunch of clowns - just in case we didn't now before."

Well I for one certainly believe it, considering it's telling me more or less what I need to fuel the outrage that keeps me frothing at the mouth. My scepticism only goes one way.

If it's true I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised.

That is absolutely disgusting. We all knew they were sticking around more something and this would kind of explain.

So who replied that we would get relegated if we sold everyone clouting Or the client???
So why is clouting here if he said that as that is what SISU are doing. He has already told him the plan is doomed but they still get him on board and go against the advise of the new chairman
We are fooked if we have this type of muppets running the club

So who have they sold recently? Yeah plenty have left at contracts end but it's hardly been the fire sale predicted. So that's not strictly true now is it.....

I suppose a fire sale could happen yet, but considering Clouting ultimately accepted their offer and is advising the course they steer (through choppy waters), maybe he's managed to come up with a slightly different approach? Obviously the "we want our money back before leaving" is the most credible part of the OP, but he could be trying to do it a slightly different way-maybe by having a very lean but (he hopes) competitive side we are a better proposition for buyers (SISU were stuck paying Kyles wages, for example).

All told, whilst most of the OP is entirely belivable-and I'm not saying it isn't true-it does have a healthy element of "my mate knows someone who's vet had a taxi driver the other day who had that director bloke in the back of his cab and he said that someone reckoned that..." Just with a nice executive golf sheen to make it sound a bit more genuine.

Accordingly, we shouldn't start building the SISU effigies just yet. We can't anyway, we don't know what they look like..:p...but if we did, there were already plenty of good, proven reasons for doing so.

Only hard facts we've got in last six weeks is that Sky Blue fans dine out on Hearsay

What do people expect? SISU went into this with their eyes shut, that was their only mistake because RR took them for a ride. He was the one that lied to them about investing. He lied to us we had 'no debt' and now he's trying to sneak in as Hoffman's buddy. When people realize SISU's action is all to get some of the money back they invested, and they believe cheated into, then we will see the biggest rogue is RR.

Sorry AS I disagree with you about SISU going in with their eyes shut etc - RR went to them with a plan about buying young players using them selling on for a profit after a couple of years, hopefully getting into the Prem in the meantime. SISU did their due diligence etc of the plan - don't forget they have been backing RR for a while just never found the right investment vehicle coming close to buying a number of clubs including Saints. The whole thing went to pot when the recession bit the money markets and their investors started getting cold feet and SISU changed tack and veered away from the original RR plan. The early sale of Dann and Fox for too little was the start of the downward spiral, RR's alleged resignation is evidence of his opposition to this change. Obviously SISU want as much of their money back as possible and will have no conscience about about selling off everything they can to minimise their exposure - its up to Hoff to come up with a viable alternative strategy to get the most money back. Hoff knows the finance game and if anyone can structure a deal he can - just have to hope that it happens before its too late and we are out of business, as I have no doubt that SISU wouldn't blink an eyelid if this was the best way of getting out of this mess of their own making.

I think he was right by saying we had no debt but was misleading because he meant no debt to banks, instead it is to SISU!

We will never know what went on exactly but from them coming out in public he seemed like he wanted to keep our good players and do the right thing!

Ashbyjan, good piece. But I think that fans accepted Fox and Dann to go. The real gobsmacker was when we let Thomas go to Liverpool. That really showed the fans that no one, no matter what age, was for sale.

I'm not sure about the strategy or who's idea it was, but I work with some of the academy coaches, who told me that at the beginning of the summer in a meeting that each age group is getting an extra coach, including one to work with rioch with the 18's...along with making the head if recruitment full time from being part time. By my colleagues reckoning this was a big change in approach for the academy and how it's run. Is this their 'new' medium term strategy, I'm not sure, but it adds to the odd and strange goings on at the city.

Smurf - its not the fact that Dann and Fox went as their departure was always going to happen - its the fact that it happened so early in their City careers that went against the original plan and this was the end of RR's plan and has lead us to the sorry state we are now in. I really fear for the survival of the club let alone our staying in this division unless a deal can be done with Hoff. SISU have been looking for investors for three years now and apart from the twitter warrior don't seem to have found anyone. Does anyone know if Brody actually paid for his shares or got them for free in lieu of his business accumen and PR genius?

I heard a guy on the bus speaking to someone else about SISU. I don't know how true it is but he was quite an old man so he's trustworthy. Apparently the reason they want to buy the share in the Ricoh is to rip up half of the pitch and replace it with fields to grow and sell potatoes because they aren't real City fans like what we is and they don't even know what football is and there is big money in potatoes, which all these rich people who I believe know nothing about business are interested in. The council will then have to sell them the other half as it will be useless, at which point SISU will drop the potato masquerade and use the site for their real purpose, creating weapons of mass destruction. The phoenix rising from the flames in our badge will be replaced by a SCUD missile being fired, and Ben Turner will be sold for quite cheap.

'I won't question it, sounds like something SISU would do'

'I knew it all along!'

'SISU OUT!'

'They don't know what they're doing, but I think they should put millions into the club which they must have found in a shed'

'I'm never eating chips again!!!!'

'It's true guys, I read the same thing pasted SOMEWHERE ELSE! Let's boo them'
