Well I must say Mr Pressley has worked wonders until now. However we now find ourselves in the situation we have all been waiting for.

Lets hope we stay up - Pressley and the lads deserve it after their impressive efforts, but I'm not sure our lovely owners do.

Did SP not find himself in the same position as MR in that he had a striker of prolific proportions ie M'Goldrick in the case of MR and Clarke in the case of SP? and once those two found settled clubs elsewhere they were off.

Or mcgoldricks loan expired and Clarke went to the club he supports for more money?

Point taken Nick on both accounts but both players had found the form of their lives under their respective Managers and so the question is......what would it have taken to keep them? Clearly more than Shitzu were prepared to pay.

We won't get relegated, not even close. I expect us to finish somewhere around the 56-58 point mark come the end of the season, probably around 14-16th in the table.

It would take a collapse almost as spectacular as the form needed for us to reach the play offs for us to be in danger.

Not impossible to reach the play offs either, not gonna happen though.

IF we went down from this position then we would fully deserve to be relegated regardless of the point deduction. 12 points from the last 16 games would probably see us safe, 16 points from 16 games would definitely see us safe. If we can't do that then we deserve to go down and Pressley and the players would have let the club down.

Think I recall that doctrine among many media & fans alike before we were relegated from the Premiership. One of the teams relegated in every division usually attracts that "too good to go down" label.

I do believe we are too good...but can only hope we don't go down.

Nick I'm beginning to despair that our supporters / fans don't understand reality and fact, just as you've described above. PUSB!

Well, if we get relegated and Pompey stay up, at least I won't have far to travel to see City play next season! :claping hands:
Quick trip over the Solent!

I disagree, we don't deserve to be where we are or in the position we're in but it's life and we just need to get on with it!

Im a big believer in the league table never lies.

Just like in the premiership years when we would have a last minute escape after being in the bottom 3 all season, we stayed up then because we deserved to.

Right now the club (forget anything attributed to sisu or acl) deserves to be a mid table league 1 side.

It's what they are & what they deserve to be.

Hey? Nobody said we were to good to go down in 00/01. We had an awful squad. Replaced McAllister and Keane with tripe. Relegation was a near certainty from the opening day of the seasob.

We wont go down but its just 3 losses from 4. yes that's crap especially given the teams played but everyone goes through bad form in this division and this is our first real test. We have lost our main strike force and no surprise results have declined. what do you expect?

Why's that? Where would we be in the table without the points deduction? ACL have cost the fans 20 points over the last two seasons.

We have also replaced Clarke with tripe and have never covered for Wilson despite him being injured for two to three months. So we continue to concede but no longer score that many. Recipe for a real relegation scrap.

We will not go down this season but without a prolific striker we will be down next. Can't SISU just do one and LEAVE. Must be the most hated owners in football history. Just glad they will neevr get there investement back.

Actually sisu gave us the first lot, but without getting into that age old argument, it's still the clubs fault.

Who gave acl that level of control over the club?

Only one party voluntarily sold all its assets to leave it in its current vulnerable state, and that is ccfc.

The club deserves all it gets.

The league table kind of does lie though, it doesn't show the true reflection of how good we've been on the pitch, we've actually gained 47 points with our performances which would have us sat in 8th 2 points off 6th and 17 points from relegation, but instead we're sat in 13th place 12 points from 6th and 7 from relegation.

But the league table is a reflection of the club as a whole, not just the playing side.

20 points deducted in 2 seasons is a symptom of 20 years piss poor management of the club.

Can't argue with that, but the league table isn't a true reflection of the teams on field talents this season, in particular when using it to show that we're relegation fodder, because the table doesn't lie.

I agree it's not a reflection of the team, but it never has been.

Unfortunately it's a league of clubs, not teams.
