What have SISU have done to Coventry City (12 Viewers)

OK, have it your way. The support has still been piss poor for years. A fact you can't escape from.
I wouldn't call it piss poor, not on a par with clubs I would consider contemporaries though. The thing is, the main reason for this must surely be the constant mediocrity, not a top 6 finish for more than 40 years with one flash in the pan cup success occurring at the time the game of footballs profile was at it's lowest ebb. Just the stimulous of the odd promotion/play off I think would see a fanbase increase.

The size of other clubs is irrelevant to be honest.

15k is more than enough fans to compete at championship level.

Relegation season:

1 West Ham United 32977
2 Southampton 26419
3 Derby County 26020
4 Leeds United 23282
5 Leicester City 23080
6 Cardiff City 22139
7 Nottingham Forest 21969
8 Brighton & Hove Albion 20027
9 Birmingham City 19516
10 Reading 19219
11 Hull City 18790
12 Ipswich Town 18266
13 Middlesbrough 17557
14 Crystal Palace 15219
15 Coventry City 15119
16 Portsmouth 15015
17 Burnley 14048
18 Bristol City 13845
19 Blackpool 12808
20 Watford 12703
21 Millwall 11484
22 Barnsley 10329
23 Doncaster Rovers 9341
24 Peterborough United 9110

Attendence is only relative to the teams around you. In that respect we were a mid table supported championship team.

Of course its not irrelevant its a comment made by you before the obvious answer comes back. Yeovil will not attract big crowds whatever the position they are in. West ham would even if they were bottom.

15 000 would be an acceptable figure if that us achieved by other clubs in similar cities - is it?

If your going on population areas then it is pretty similar to other clubs.

Compared to other clubs then no, I don't think it's too impressive. Look back at Derby, Leicester, Forest, Norwich, Southampton, Sunderland, both Sheffield teams. Clubs of similar size and stature.

So do you think 15k is poor for a Championship club in the relegation zone the whole season? Yes or No?

Were we not getting over 20k when SISU first took over? The crowds got lower very quickly once we ended up with a relegation side.

And now we can be lucky to get more than 2k and that is including the away support.

I think you could be right. From what I remember on here it was around 17K for a couple of seasons afterwards.

No need to show the lowest attendances :(

Exactly with no top 6 place since 1970 , a stat which I can't believe any other club comes even remotely close to matching, it is frankly amazing that anybody goes. Speaking to some Sheff Wed fans before the game at Rotherham, they were absolutely gobsmacked when we told them of our dubious honour. It would be hard to think of any team in any major sport with such a sustained period of abject failure.
That is one of the factors I don't believe SISU have ever factored into their gamble of going to Northampton, the club simply doesn't have any residual goodwill to draw on with the club's fans. For fans who started following after 1987 there has been no success or even any hint of success.

Why is it surprising anybody goes because we haven't had much success since 1970? If people only want to support when we get success then maybe they should get an Arsenal / Man Utd / Chelsea shirt.

You find it surprising that people want to watch a winning team?

Using your logic there should be no variation across the leagues in the amount of people watching. Why do you suppose Man City get more fans than Bury?

Well I thought about that one and for a minute thought burys population of 60,000 versus 2.5 million might be a factor but on reflection you are probably right.

And then there's Leeds which has a population similar to that of Liverpool, yet Liverpool and Everton have a combined attendance of around 70k each weekend, whereas Leeds has about 23k.

Very strange don't you think?

Mmmm interesting thought you've convened me. So of course teams like forest Norwich and Southampton in their relegation seasons from the championship must have had massively lower attendances than us - I'm guessing - am I right?

Southampton escaped the clutches of SISU so they didn't get their support decimated like we have.

So are you now going to let us know how many Manchester fans......both clubs.......were born or live in Manchester? And I suppose our club has the same amount of fans that were not either born or live in Coventry.

I don't know, maybe some of them are just glory fans and were probably nowhere to be seen when they were lurking in the lower leagues....

But that can't be possible.

According to some posters on here Ccfc is the only club in the world that attracts more fans when doing well.

Not to mention the fact that support is predominantly based on population as Grendel implied ;)
