Boycott of Home Games v Lack of Squad Investment (17 Viewers)

Can we, in all honesty, Boycott Northampton and then bemoan the lack of investment in the team? We starve the club of cash and then moan that they won't spend any! I have no problem whatsoever with either viewpoint but you really can't have it both ways, it flies in the face of common sense. Boycott games by all means but you have to expect the obvious consequence. Criticism of a lack of investment before the boycott, fair enough, but now they have a pretty solid excuse!
(and yes... I have my tin hat on!)

I take your point Samo but let's say we had filled sixfields all season how much more money do you think there would be in the kitty right now. Including the recent FA cup windfall and surplus from the transfer window that was handed straight to SP to spend?

didnt they say they could cover the losses by moving to sixfields, that being the case shouldnt any exta money be used to support the team...also, when we got relegated if i remember we started with 7/8 kids in the team....sisu have learnt so much were back in the same siutation...loans of kids from higher placed teams maybe...but still kids...or free's

nothings changing...if they start laying bricks at least perhaps people would got to northhampton as there is proof of a new stadium, commitment etc...but again they have done nothing.

You hit it on the head....lack of investment before going to Northampton.
They moved us and said they could fund it, so if they are saying now they can't invest in the team, yes I do blame them.
It gives them an excuse? They have always found excuses.

Staying away is my only real option of protest. Yes that old economic one of the customer voting with the money in their pocket.

So Samoa yes we can boycott Sixfields and moan how SISU are conducting their affairs.

If we packed Sixfields out every week sisu would pocket the money and still not reinvest in players, wake up smell the coffee!!

And Norwood, Nimely and gary gardner on loan.

No, only Bigi and Christie started in the team, not 7-8 youngsters.

SISU knew what they were doing when they alienated 90% of their home support revenues by moving to Northampton. Part of the plan I'm afraid.

Another relegation and the price falls on the Ricoh and ACL.

A reasonable argument .... except, lack of investment in the team goes back well before the boycott started. It also flies in the face of statements made by Sisu / Otium / Club Directors on the subject. In fact, what we have seen from the owners is DIS-investment in the squad over a number of years although they are undoubtedly having to fund continuing losses. Of course, if they weren't so stubborn about not returning to the Ricoh, the gates would increase 5-10 fold and losses would reduce.

Speaking personally, I am prepared to take the risk of continuing the Boycott until CCFC returns to Coventry. That may mean no spending on the team, it may mean that we lose players in the summer and we may lose Elvis. However, I honestly don't believe that Sisu etc. would spend one penny more on the team if we filled Sixfields for every remaining 'home' fixture .... and therefore Not One Penny More from me actually seems a low risk tactic that sends a message to the owners with the only real sanction that supporters have available.

You may well be right. But could you answer my original question?

And Christie started through management choice. Wood and McPake were available but sidelined, as was the most expensive and highest earning player in the squad.

Fair enough but it was a good 10 months and I think the next was gardener on loan my point is they gave up any meaningful investment long before the current stand off

Just part of the responsibility that those of us have to accept. For me its a price worth paying, as every victory in Northampton is pretty much worthless anyway.

As a boycotter I accept the harm I'm inadvertently causing to the team.

I just wish those who attended would accept that they are inadvertently supporting the concept of CCFC playing at Sixfields.

Sorry i could be mistaken, wasnt it the saints game that finished us off and we were left fielding kids?...

No, every victory in Northampton is worth 3pts, and I'm sure you wouldn't make that statement if we were in and around the playoffs.

Probably one if the most divisive and disgusting posts I have read on here.

Totally shameful.

So are you saying that none of us can complain about what they are doing to our club as most of us won't go to Northampton? :thinking about:

Or are you allowed to complain if you go to Northampton......although so far the only complaints have come from a couple of women

Are you allowed to complain if you can't get to, can't afford to get to Northampton or both? For instance disabled supporters.

I won't go to Northampton. I won't just let it drop though. It is SISU that have taken us there. The buck stops at them. They could easily bring our club home. We all know that. It just wouldn't give them a chance of making their investors lots of money by getting the Ricoh for a very low price. And we all know that this is what it is all about. Yet some of us seem to think that we should keep our gobs shut whatever SISU do to our club. Just like those of us that go to Northampton do.

Bollocks. He says he doesn't care if we lose every fans. Yesterday he said he doesn't care if the club are sub conference.

He also is divisive by constantly goading attendees and saying they are to blame. Its bollocks and he should be banned.

Complain if you want to, I'm fine with that. Boycott if you want to, I'm fine with that too. But I reserve the right to point out the obvious.

You are the SBT equivalent of Mary Whitehouse.

Just as TV writers knew they had made a decent TV show if she criticised it, I know that I have made a decent post you will criticise it.

Explain to me how a supporter doesn't care if a team loses or suffer relegation?

Please retract that lie or back up your words little man.

As for saying I should be banned, is that how you treat people with a different opinion to yourself? This is still a free country, and I am a Coventry City fan on a Coventry City forum, and my opinion is just as valid as the yours or anyone else's.

If you have a problem dealing with the fact that not everyone shares your view then I suggest internet forums aren't the place for you.

Don't you just hate those players that gesticulate imaginary cards at other players, trying to get the ref to send them off?

A fan who doesn't care if his team are relegated - that's not a fan - are you an Atkinson fan from his villa days? As for Sixfields attendees you constantly snide about them and their role in keeping the club at Northampton and yes I will provide a couple of examples - there's one on this thread - using inadvertently means nothing - that suggests ignorance and stupidity. All they are doing is supporting the team.

So you didn't say that you didn't care if the club was one league below the conference if they stayed at Sixfields?

In the greater scheme of things most people realise that a relegation/promotion here and there mean nothing. The only thing that means something is getting rid of these odious owners. I don't expect you to agree with this as you are out of sync with many CCFC fans. All we want is owners that care something about our club, our heritage and for our future. This lot don't give a flying f..k about any of that.
