A good meeting in the Squirrel last night. Some well received proposals for actions aimed at getting Coventry City back to the Ricoh, including this one.
On 16th March, Coventry City Ladies play Brighton & Hove, kick-off 2pm. This is the same day that CCFC play Port Vale at Sixfields. There was an overall consensus from those attending that it would be worth trying to get a larger crowd at the Ricoh than at Sixfields that afternoon. That probably means we need around 2,000 fans attending the game in Coventry.
It was also proposed that the 'WHY?' display should be repeated - the same as we did at Arsenal and Notts County on 35 minutes, generally agreed to be the best expression of supporters views, certainly since the march last year. Steps are already being taken to get more 'WHY?' signs produced & available.
If we can get a bigger crowd at the Ricoh than at Sixfields, there is a strong chance that we will get TV and media coverage to keep the cause in the limelight. This should also help generate support for the 'Without fans there is no Football' petition.
For those who have not seen Coventry City Ladies play previously, I can assure you that they play some really attractive football. They are currently on a brilliant run of form - I think it is 9 wins in a row in all competitions and 15 unbeaten. Entry is only £5 (£3 concessions) so the match is worth supporting anyway. Their officials are happy to back the cause of getting the Sky Blues back to the Ricoh and would of course like to see a big crowd cheering on the Ladies.
See you there.
