There are a few gripes regarding Coventry Council at the moment, are there cracks beneath the surface?

how can this be? they are perfect!

No Council is perfect, Coventry Council however have been thrusted more into the National Spotlight more than most others.

No more or less than normal. It's like when you get a new car, you notice everyone else with the same car. This thread wouldn't have been posted 2 years ago.

It wouldn't.

Then again, there'd be no need for us all to be insulted by Coventry Council not sticking rigidly to an administrative boundary of what is Coventry.

Why on earth is this in the 'Coventry City General Chat' forum? We need a politics sub forum if people want to talk about things like this. There's enough politics on here as it is without bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with the football club.

Putting the councils dealings with the club aside I think the majority of people in the city are generally not happy with how our council has performed over the years.

I'd have thought the reason's obvious...

Oh yes it is obvious. The more that the boundaries of Coventry get expanded the further away a new ground could be if built as they are saying 7 miles outside the boundary as it is. Maybe this is what the 3 week holdup is as they have found out that the boundary is about to move and they can then build in Birmingham. A bit of slum clearing might be cheaper.

Misleading headline if you don't mind me saying. They aren't actually considering it Coventry, they're lumping Coventry in with the surrounding areas and claiming leadership. A bit like Germany does in Europe I'd guess.

(I assume the link was the "what is Coventry" question, if not please disregard)

Hold up a second here - this is about LEPs and business initiatives, it's hardly tanks rolling over the border in a land grab for Nuneaton & Bedworth.

Outside of local politics, I don't think this is particularly big story. I don't doubt that Coventry City Council has faults, but if you're grasping at this to justify some perception of wrongdoing to the club (or because your bin hasn't been emptied), then I think it's pretty thin personally...

Not any owner either!!!!!!!!!!

But like Councils, owners should be scrutinised and observed.

Just "supporting the lads" is naïve and to be honest, results in fans being treated like thick football yobs.

You wouldn't vote the same party back in without reviewing their performance would you? Surely you would put some thought into participating in the democratic process?

Therefore how is holding football club owners to account any different?

How about if a stadium rocked up in Exhall and Ansty, it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest that Coventry Council would take credit for it being in Coventry, based on past efforts?

That wouldn't be right, would it? We all know where Coventry is, and it's not Exhall or Ansty. Coventry Council wouldn't seek to pass that off as Coventry if it was to their commercial advantage to do so, would they? Good on Coventry for seeking growth not just economically, but geographically too. What is an administrative boundary after all, but an arbitrary thing imposed by suits.

So if Exhall and Ansty are good enough for the council, they're good enough for us.

Or... it's not on for Coventry to do that. Everyone knows Coventry is not in Warwickshire, what a crazy thought that Coventry is in Warwickshire, who would ever think that. The boundaries of Coventry are obvious to everybody, everybody knows where they start and finish. Hell, you can walk past the Warwick Arts Centre and know exactly where Coventry ends and Warwickshire begins.

It's just so obvious.

And any transgrression should be pounced upon.

Not One Inch More!

They'll be after Ryton next...

I don't think he did say it was different did he?

So people who want to go and watch their football team are thick football yobs? Heard it all now. Voting for a political party and the football team you have supported since birth is slightly different.

As he said, I think RFC made a point of bringing football owners into it also that they make mistakes? I don't think anybody says they shouldn't be scrutinised and observed though ;)

62% believe Coventry is in warwickshire...38% in West Midlands.

What's the betting that most of the votes for West Midlands were from warwickshire residents, and most of the warwickshire votes from Coventry residents?

There's an audience everywhere... and it;s well to reach out and engage with all audiences.

Too fucking right Coventry City Council should take credit for Coventry City Football Club!

Same reason Coventry City Football Club should play in the City of Coventry.

In all seriousness, I think you (deliberately?) misinterpret that story as Coventry City Council genuinely wanting to annex Rubgy and take full control (i.e. become their jurisdiction, or bring it within the boundaries of Coventry) and not them just wanting to "photobomb" the success of surrounding areas.

Please don't try and twist my words to suit your own agenda. As I quite clearly state, not questioning the owners results in them thinking fans as nothing but thick football yobs.

As for RFC, hes stated many times that he just wants to go and watch games, that's fine, all I'm saying is that is the same as blindly voting for a political party without reviewing their performance.

'Engage' is that the same as posting on here then trying to wet yer knickers with the girls back on GMK??

This may amaze you, I know, but I refuse to be defined by a forum.

I am defined by myself.

Instead of being a bit of a tosspot and assuming why I've done it, you could wait and see...

Just interested, when you had a laugh with the GMKers about getting banned on here, what account was it??

Turns out I wasn't banned, it was the settings on an old laptop.

I was indeed amused that I would have been banned from anywhere,as (generally, until confronted by arseholes) I try to be polite to people and actually think for myself.

Instead of trying to take something off course by scurrilous rumour mongering rather than roundly condemning the idea of Coventry not being Coventry.

Oh so when you were having a matey laugh about getting banned on here, you were giving it the large onion haha... 1 GMK stripe off for that!
On the subject, The Ricoh is in Coventry the rest is flim flam. Oh and the problem is Sisu, they are stewards of the club.
