If it is that easy to make money on academy players year after year then all clubs would adopt this.

There have been seasons where they have struggled to get more then 2 decent players.

seems to come in cycles. After all we are at a lower division then before so more of the players will shine.
Would this still be the case if we were in the Prem?

Not having a go just making a general comment on why it may have not worked so well in the past.

Totally agree, it will be hit & miss.

The flaw here of course is that when quoting turnover you have to context the industry in. The wage bill in those percentages is normal by football standards but you'd struggle to find many rents at 12% in the industry and the real relevant figure is turnover through the turnstiles. This was up to 25% at one stage - outrageous by any standards.

And of course our turnover is suppressed due to the restrictions of the deal....

And what percentage of our present turnover goes on rent now? If the rent payable is the 200k that lots quote it isn't far off 50%.

If you have such proof why don't you tell it to the FL and get them to investigate it?

Lucas met Seppala, not Fisher.....and it's not isolated evidence it's common knowledge she is running it.

So why doesn't the Football League investigate it then?

I don't see that Joy Seppala has an affiliation to the Club or Otium, only that Joy is the spear head to Sisu Capital?

Waggott On Club's Ambition

Coventry City Development Officer Steve Waggott has said that the ambition is to have half of the match day squad made up of players who have come through the club's youth development system.
Writing in his notes for the City V Port Vale programme, Mr Waggott said: "My role is to have an eye on next season and, on top of that, the long term future of the club.

Our Category Two status for our Academy is integral to that and the ambition is to see fifty per cent of the first team squad on a matchday represented by players who have come through our youth development system.

"Part of that means developing an even stronger scouting network that builds a wall around the Coventry & Warwickshire area and captures the very best talent we have in our area for Coventry City.
"It also means extending out across the region in a bid to attract talented youngsters from further afield to come into the club at a young age.

"Parents and children alike want to see an opportunity to progress from the youth system into first team football and what this club is showing, with Steven Pressley at the helm, is there is a clear pathway through from Academy to the first team.

"Of course, there will be further challenges ahead but our aim will be to begin next season with a strong squad that can build on the foundations laid this year.
"In the short term, we must ensure we maintain League One status, mid-term, have a squad of players that can get us where we need to get to and long term have a youth development system that keeps producing the next generation of players.

"All of the above looks quite easy when you write it down but it is going to mean a great deal of work and continued investment and getting every single penny possible out onto the pitch."

Cone on Rob. How many times do you want to lose the same argument?!?

I don't care about losing the argument, it's a question, yourself MMM and Hobo have both stated instances that should be explored, why is the Football League not looking at this, it is obviously a clear violation of their rules in which they hold so dear. Are we missing something?

You are talking as though they haven't bent the rules for SISU before

It's not just a question, though, is it? You - today - stated: I don't see that Joy Seppala has an affiliation to the Club or Otium, only that Joy is the spear head to Sisu Capital

And that was clearly and categorically explained to you yesterday. Repeatedly. Its like groudhog day, yet again

because they want to stay with a 50 mile round trip of their homes ?

It's going to be akin to Hadrians wall and not much nearer ,are'nt Prem clubs allowed to attract players either within 90 miles or 1.5hrs travel time ?

Welcome to where everyone else was 6 months ago! The FL are failing to endorse their own rules repeatedly. That's why we're all so upset. That's why Parliament is getting involved.

I grasp that Shmmeee, but this issue is in clear violation of the rules of the FL why has it been swept under the carpet and yet to be explored?

The FL's rules allow them discretion. Are you saying that every case should be black and white?

The league rules clearly state that they can be amended at the leagues discretion in this area. Its a non starter.

League and discretion don't seem to go together some how :thinking about:

I have heard the words "League" and "Discretion" for far to long and it no longer bares any relevance on a sensible human being.
