Does Sisu need to attract new investors to build a stadium? (9 Viewers)

Given that Sisu are just a hedge fund responsible for investing other peoples money the rather obvious question I have is this. Does Sisu actually have anyone lined up to fund the development of a stadium? Given that the stadium may be owned by a different Sisu entity to the one that owns Coventry what guarantee is there for the stadium investor that a future Coventry board won't relocate the club all over again? Also what evidence does Sisu have to support the view that fans will return to watching the sky blues?

I think these a fundental questions which may be the real cause of the lack of progress being made to agree a new stadium deal.

Agree - the only possibly way it could happen is if it gets built on the very cheap, with pretty temporary stands. The minute a return to the Ricoh was on the cards, the club could easily clear the site, sell the land on for brownfield development (probably housing) and only stand to make a small net loss at worst. Meanwhile they would be keeping up the pressure on ACL.

As I write this it seems unlikely, but certainly a Brighton-style arena must be out of the question.

That doesn't chime with the "building our own ground" rhetoric...another option could be to take over Hinkley's ground now they are out of business.

The rest of us will have to tune in to USA today for live commentary at 8.00 in the evenings. But the real bad news is that I've heard from a good source that they will be applying for a name change to ' Coventry Comets' in an attempt to drum up some local support. Other sources close to the club said the the SLT understand that this may upset some of the fans even more, but F&B sales should go up as the Americans have even bigger appetites then the stay away fans here, and although they may see a fall in pie sales, market research tells them to expect hot dogs and burgers to fly off the shelf.

Just to consider our stadium issues from a more realistic perspective for a minute.......... what happens if Northampton get relegated as seems likely? They are not rolling in cash, an immediate return to the league could be tricky, especially with what funds they have been tied up in the redevelopment of Sixfields. With the Cobblers out of the league, we would presumably get preference on the fixtures so could go back to playing on a Saturday which might get a few more bums on seats. You might even see the odd Northampton fan coming to watch the Sky Blues instead. Buying in to an existing and soon to be expanded stadium looks a hell of lot more appealing to SISU than trying to build their own.

I said from the moment we left the Ricoh that there were only 3 possible outcomes; Liquidation, the council buckling and selling the Ricoh to SISU on the cheap or we end up staying in Northampton permanently. Council have made it pretty clear they don't want to sell and I imagine if they were going to liquidate it would have been done already. So...............
