Must say, I thought it was better than this....

Won 20

Lost 18

I'd have said it was better than that too. It could be a hell of a lot worse under the current circumstances though.

We were poor last season when he first came in and Clarke got injured & 10 point deduction.

And we've been poor since Christmas this year.

He has only had 4 really good months when you look at results. Surprised he isn't getting a lot more stick to be honest.

Really hope sisu don't get an itchy trigger finger as we edge towards relegation. We need a bit of consistency in the managers position if nothing else.

Think most aren't even considering the end of the last season when taking into account Pressleys performance, if we are poor next season I'd imagine he will get a lot of stick

I bet he isn't too thrilled with the way his career has turned out, either.

Oh god, he actually winces at the end of that video!

Not surpised the win aerage is low - when he joined the season was tailing off and we were clearly going to end mid-table, the players sensed that and results showed this. Same is happening this season. Wouldn't blame him forthat, blame the owners for inflicting two consecutive ten point penalties on the team.

I for one support SP. I think he deserves a lot of credit for his apparent commitment to the cause, using thin resources and a largely youthful squad to even keep us competitve. I think a club keeping consistency in the manager would be better for current and future players. I think SP tries to demand a lot out of the players, but I think that he places high confidence in their ability to rise to their full potential.
Keeping SP long term can only strenghten the squad as there is a consistent training vision, and a more cohesive "style" of play can develop.

I wonder why he went straight to management and not youth coaching/management?

Agreed - every sacking this club has made, as far back as Adams, has been a knee-jerk rashly made decision.

Because he has performed very well considering the context

The question is.......is there a better Manager out there than SP? In my opinion the answer is NO. He is completely committed to the cause and I believe that he is more than capable of seeing the job through.

"the Blue Square Premier?"...............Is that not more to do however with the constraints which have been placed on him by our wonderful owners rather than a reflection of his abilities?

I am certainly not blaming Pressley for anything thats going on at Cov, but one interesting stat is that Falkirk have a better win ratio since he left.

Yes, you're right. But whether he stays or not, that's the way we're going unless SISU do one

Let's be honest, the table is false. That's fact, for the first time ever 'the table doesn't lie' line is complete nonsense. We shouldn't be looking over our shoulder, we should be thinking ahhh our play off chances are slipping away. But then again...if we didn't have 10 points taken off us and we were 2 points off playoffs about a month ago, as we would have been...would Leon have left? Would we be under HUGE pressure to keep our heads afloat? Or, like SP said, would be enjoying the hunt, the chase, going out to win knowing every result gets us a step closer to the play offs. I think it's the later. This team doesn't deserve to be fighting relegation, we are better than that.

there is also the question of would we have got off the starting blocks so fast if we started on 0. could have worked either way.

The table may lie, but does pressleys win record ?

38% win record in League One.

Frustrating thing is we'll never know for sure.

You could argue he might have had a higher win percentage if we were at the Ricoh and on less of a shoestring budget.

Pressley is here for the long term. The academy status is the most important vision for the future and at least give credit to SISU for recognising that after all the previous mistakes? He is their man for that very purpose. there will be more Callum Wilson's coming through. We will not be relegated.
Like David Moyes in the longer term he will develop the club from the grass roots up and we will end up stronger for it and in a better place than for many years. It's just such a shame the stadium issues are or could potentially be totally damaging to this philosophy.

True but historically, have Cov teams have hardly been inspired to herculean feats at the ricoh! To my mind a manager can only be judged on:

1) Results
2) Signings
3) Fitness (via training regimes)
4) Tactics
5) Formations
6) Substitutions
7) Team morale

Ultimately all of these traits are measurable, and none really affected by a points deduction! Finances maybe - points deduction no way! As others have said, the points deduction could have a +ve effect in that it allowed the team to achieve a blitz never say die attitude. And LC scoring for fun could have brought in complacency - we just will never know for sure!

Any manager should stand or fall on the first 6 points, and the 7th is a result of those 6 points. Is Pressley the best possible manager available? Clearly not, as his replacement at Falkirk is doing better with the same resources!

I just can't see Pressley here for the long term. His standing and reputation are quite high at the moment, but a poor next season and that will change. His chance of progression could have gone. I think that once the sackings start around the leagues in the summer, someone will want to take a chance on him based on him having done a good job under difficult circumstances. Possibly a Championship club, but certainly not a homeless basket-case club that is disintegrating by the week.

Pressley is not really any different from the players. He has a career to pursue and probably figures that it will be better served elsewhere. Rather like Leon Clarke in January, you have to take your opportunities when they arise, as next year may be too late. The right offer will mean we won't see his backside for dust. Just like our better players, I'm afraid.

Sorry but disagree that Pressley will be here for a long time. If he is as good as people say he is (I'm not convinced yet that he is) then he will be snapped up by a bigger and better club because there is no way that he will carry on with what he has to work with, it will be too demoralising. The academy status was a forced issue by the FA so lets not be singing Sisu's praises just yet because if Fisher had his way we would be playing at sub standard facilities at Warwick Uni. The academy wasn't Pressley's baby because it was the work of a man who built and nurtured the players and he has now gone so time will tell if we can get someone else in to fill that void. Please do not use David Moyes as an example because although he did a decent and only say decent job because a work colleague of mine up north had a kid at Everton and apparently Moyes tactics were and still are like something from the 70's and by all accounts Martinez has been a breath of fresh air, Moyes's only saving grace was he knew how to make a team hard to beat and Pressley is hardly following that example is he? With regard to the philosophy for the future, I think that is a question best answered after the summer.

Falkirk are in pretty much the same position as when Pressley left as far as I can see

Maybe the state of the clubs when he left & now might change that opinion! He was signed by city 8th mar (IIRC), so from www.statto.com 9 Mar 2013 Pd 27 W 10 D 7 L 10 GF 38 GA 39 GD -1 Pts 37 League Pos 5th Points off top of table 18 8 mar 2014 Pd 27 W 13 D 8 L 6 GF 42 GA 23 GD +19 Pts 47 League Pos 3rd Points off top of table 2 In other words, when Pressley left Falkirk, the possibility of getting promoted was pretty remote. 12 months later, they were within 2 points of top! Based on this, I genuinely fail to see how they are pretty much the same! Could you please tell me how you come to that conclusion as I see it the table shows a marked improvement for Falkirk

That doesn't necessarily mean the new manager is better. More asked built a young squad, they are now 1 year more developed and experienced. I know they lost Taylor in the summer but they may have used that money (and compensation from us getting Pressley) to buy 1 or 2 key players that have improved the squad. The squad and starting 11 may be different to the Pressley had. The teams relegated into that league may not have been as strong as the ones promoted and hence not stretching the lead. Perhaps there was an injury crisis which coincided with a poor patch under Pressley and the new manager has been luckier in terms of injuries this season. Lots of potential variables.
