Matey laugh time!
But... isn't the whole point of lobbying that you lobby for your own interest? What you're wanting to show is that sufficient people hold an interest in your interest, that it's worth making central in policy.
Our interest as Coventry City fans is, well, Coventry City Football Club.
Surely the idea is to show that Coventry City Football Club is more important than side issues? If an investment fund makes a crushing loss and some hotels aren't built, I don't really care in this particular context.
So why, if that's the case, do we waste our time with discussion of the finance, investment opportunities, and the wider remit of the Ricoh?
The club is not a sideshow. The club is central. All other considerations should pale into insignificance for this particular effort, as surely the crucial thing is to show the club is important, and important enough to take precedence over all other considerations?
And if fans of Coventry City Football Club can't make it central, who can?
- I'm sure the people campaigning against HS2 are aware it helps infrastructure, and creates jobs in industry and engineering when jobs are needed.
- I'm sure some campaigners against school closures are aware that the buildings could be sold off to generate much needed cash for the local authority, and be used to improve housing stocks/ retail space.
- I'm sure campaigners against new developments on Wellesbourne airfield are aware that a new housing estate could generate income for the local pub, shop, and create jobs for people already living in the area.

- Does it matter if an investment fund makes money or not?
- Does it matter if property development opportunities happen or not?
