Concert at the cathedral

The standard of the kids is phenomenal

Just had very interesting conversation with Ann Lucas. Js has no interest in CCfc just Ricoh, land and hotel.

Ohh bugger.

Was that tonight? My missus is going to be rather annoyed when she finds out.

70th anniversary of Coventry and Stalingrad uniting against a common tragedy of civilians being taken up in a war not of their making or choosing

Even more annoyed she'll be.

We didn't know a thing about it and my missus is from Volgograd.

Amazing utterly amazing!!

Great story too

Our city has a lot to be proud of for its gift of reconciliation still spreading to this day with the work of the reconciliation ministry at the cathedral

Bet if my missus had let the council know she'd have been a VIP for the night.

Could have bagged myself a bottle of champagne and 4 poster bed at the Formula 1 hotel.

No idea where my wife would sleep though.

There is actually a Volgograd Place in Coventry. It is under the ring road on the way to the Swanswell.

just wondering otis, whats your wife's view on putin and the crimea stuff?

Not good.

Despite what the press say, the Russian people are mostly completely blinded by him over there by all accounts and they pretty much all like the bloke and think he can do very little wrong.

We've had a fair few arguments over this. She can't understand all the sanctions over the Ukraine situation and I explained it's because Russia broke international law and invaded a sovereign country and she says they didn't, the Russians only went in to protect the people of Crimea.

She doesn't believe any of the 'Western world stories' as he puts it.

I did keep explaining to her that the Russian people have been lied to for over 70 years, but she's having none of it. She says I am biased towards the West. I am not though and as I said to her, how come then I didn't support Blair in invading Iraq and was totally opposed to our government's decision on this at the time and heavily criticised my own country?

I always try to keep a balanced view on everything and if any country is in the wrong they are in the worng, be it Russia, China, the US or indeed, ourselves.

All my wife's family are still in Russia and my wife is in regluar contact and gets the word off the street and feeling from over there from her conversations.

She thinks of Putin as brave, war hero leader rather than the Butcher of Chechnya.

That's the thing for me Otis.

It would be so wonderful of our past wasn't littered with military action that violated international law so that with clean unbloodied hands we could speak to Russia but we can't because we acted in Iraq for our own needs but not in Rwanda. We were too late in Kosovo and impotent in Syria.

The sanctions are pointless and counterproductive. I would be saying to Putin it is all well and good using the democratic process in crimea so why not use the same pattern in Chechnya

The whole situation is daft. Let's be honest here, if Crimea really wanted to rejoin Russia it could be easily done by diplomatic means anyway.

And if the Chechyens want independence then let them be independent.

Think the world could be a so much simpler place at times if we applied a bit more common sense.

Was a high level event. Lord Mayor, representative from Russian ambassador. Hell even pru perretta was there

There was even a world premiere that included the sky blues and Ricoh in the same sentence :-(

Sort of. I write songs, so do put my vocal to those, but they are for other people to actually sing.

Nice to see they have something in common then.

Did the old croak keep having to nip outside for a fag break?

which band was you in otis?

A band called Blownfuze. We didn't have much success, but my drummer joined King and my bass played joined Dexy's Midnight Runners.

We were only a 3 piece so after that there pretty much was no band!;)

used to work with tony at the jag,in fact i gave him my copy of the album (the label) by reluctant stereotypes, think he played bass in that. It was the only album or recording he didn't have from his time in the music scene.
