What does Waggott do? (3 Viewers)

I thought he was in charge of player recruitment, finding players, contracts etc??

Pressley is saying that no background checks were done on players we have signed? This surely reflects badly on Waggott if this is his area......

sadly whatever they tell us we have lived a hand to mouth existence this season, the debacle on loans since just before Christmas tells us that ,sadly next year it will get no better, season ticket revenue in the summer will be negligable. I wonder how long pressley will put up with it. As for waggott he,s a wheeler dealer ,which when you have no funds is not easy, the blame lies higher up the chain.

Poor signings reflect badly on Waggott and Pressley. I can't remember a season with so many poor signings for many a year.

A friend of mine used to play for a championship club and is now manager of a league one club. I spoke to him about this a couple of years ago and he said that the single most important thing was background checks and references from other managers as to the players off-field character. It seems we have been missing this part of the deal.

It is good that SP has recognised the problem. The club's performance in the transfer market this season has been very poor and has let Pressley down badly. Here's hoping things improve in the next transfer window.

I'm sure he wouldn't cast the first stone! He'd leave that to MMM, WEA, SpionKop, etc

Throwing over the tables of the money lender's. I don't think he'd like ARVO at all.

Pretty sure he'd be a hillier too. He liked doing sermons on high ground.

Ha, yes you're right! You can tell I'm not a believer, can't you? I was really just having a go at the self-righteous fools such as MMM, etc.

Surely as "he who is without sin" he would cast the first stone.

I'm not a believer either, I just think Jesus wanted the best stone throwing opportunities.

I think a lot of believers can be summed up quite nicely by the wonderful John Butler:

"As long as there's something for me, as long as the world swings my way, I won't have any complaints and I'll believe all the myths on Sunday".

I'm not a believer either, I just think Jesus wanted the best stone throwing opportunities.

I'm spotting a trend with this due diligence business and the lack of being able to do it well...

Interestingly the new cov blaze coach was on about recruiting new players for next season and rather than looking at ability and stats, he was getting feedback from Facebook and that from their friends, character references if you like.

Particularly of significance in league 1 to see if players are 'up for the fight'

Good point..

A lack of due diligence creeping in again. You would have thought a member of SISU would have lost this bad habit by now.

Steve Waggott is useless and has foisted players on managers for three years, the reason Mark Robins left believe me. He is detested by a lot of the players especially the younger ones. There are two Steve Waggotts the media one and the real one. Got run out of Charlton Athletic too.

Thanks OP for asking this, it's been on my mind all season. I have seen people on here sing his praises, never seen the justification in it myself.

Not convinced he brings anything positive to the table.
