Interesting article

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp.../coventry-sphinx-reaping-benefits-sky-7063773

I like the idea of the last two paragraphs:

“I’m a Sky Blues fan and I don’t want to reap rewards of the demise of a football club that goes back to the 1800s.”

“We haven’t got the money to play at the Ricoh. But it would be nice to have a couple of games there to test the water and see what sort of a following we would get.”

YES! ACL lets give it a go & see what happens

Err! no I didn't...... & no I don't threaten to leave every month..... I think you have mistook me for someone else. Go check your facts.

Is an increase of 50 people out of 10,000 who have stopped going to CCFC homes games actually worth a mention?

Hardly a mass desertion !

Two games would cost £10,000 - I hope they have deep pockets.

Ignore CC4L he was causing trouble. Every month, indeed! It's daily with you and Italia, isn't it?

ooooh they once had 280 supporters at a game. Yeah good for them but why are we even entertaining the thought of making Cov Sphinx are main club. Fook off. Its Coventry City or nothing.

Oh no it isn't.

I've only ONCE said I was divorced from the club & that still holds true, currently CCFC and myself are estranged.

However, once SISU have gone & the team are back in Coventry, I quite willing to have some sort of reconciliation.

However, while I'm "on a break" I'll look at other alternatives for football, which could be Coventry United or Coventry Sphinx, maybe both.

I don't think many people are suggesting making them our main club, it's just another alternative for football on Saturday if sixfields isn't your thing. It helps grassroots football in the City & give people a football outlet it that's what they want.

I understand that idea but it is about making Sphinx our club or some breakaway Phoenix club. This thread might not be but I have seen threads about just that. That is my point.

Most probably. I think all usernames containing CCFC, SKyBlue, Cov, Ricoh should be banned. No offence, AJS but I get confused with CCFCDave, CCFCPete, SkyBlueGary, etc etc. Have a bit more imagination.

I think people are mistaking Snozz_is_god for SonofSnoz.

Always thought that a pickpocket at The Ricoh would have the easiest job in the World once he got to the cashpoint with his stolen debit and credit cards with 75% of the pin numbers being 1987.

The story in the Telegraph doesn't tell the full story at all. The 280 attendance was clearly down to the fact that you could pay what you liked on the day. They rarely get 100 people and the average at their other 2014 games is a mere 74. That is about average for that league where gates fall as low as 15 at some clubs.

I couldn't face paying to watch football at that level, you may as well pick a decent looking game in the Sunday League and watch it for free. Watching City in League One last season was hard going so eighth tier is just too far down the pyramid to be worthwhile. Sorry, guys.

You just don't know how wrong you are Sid.

The standard of football is surprisingly good, add to that endeavor, sincerity, enthusiasm and commitment and you actually have something well worth watching.

Have you watched any at that level? I have a team (Boldmere St Michael) in the same league as Sphinx situated about a mile from my house, plus two teams in the league above (Sutton Town & Romulus) even closer. But I haven't had the heart to go and watch since losing my City after 50 years, so I've seen no football at all this season.

I am in a dilemma really. I suspect I will never see City play in Coventry ever again. So do I go and try this basic stuff? Or just walk away from football altogether and cut my losses?

yes indeed, I've watched Sphinx this year, thoroughly enjoyed it, I'd go more often, but I live in Tamworth & work in Manchester.

Not going anywhere. its you prats who are threatening to watch a "breakaway" club run by useless fat opportunists.

What the F*** are you on, sphinx and utd are not going to threaten CCFC's existence so pipe down, the only people doing that are SISU and the Council.

I will have more involvement with Cov Utd next year as my lad will be playing in one of their youth academy teams thus why dont you look at it the other way and maybe if they can climb a few more leagues CCFC might be able to utilise some cheap talent and given the owners are CCFC fans I cant see them minding either.
