Mondays Player / manager meeting thread (2 Viewers)

Chief Commentator!
I'm bored, and obviously have too much time on my hands (looking at the length of this thread). What are people's thoughts on what could or should be the outcome following Mondays player / manager meetings. Some we know about, and the loans have probably played their last game for CCFC.

1 Joe Murphy Goalkeeper - I hope we can tie him down to a new deal. I've criticised him in the past, but more so when above League 1. Yes, he's prone to the odd error, but there's no doubting he's a good player at this level. Think ASAP will want to keep him.

2 Cyrus Christie Defender - can't see him staying to be honest. I'm sure Pressley would love him to, and as he's suddenly come back into favour he might get be edging closer to getting his wish, but I think there's been a lot of uncertainty over him this season, and also a lot of inconsistencies with his performances. Most likely to move on. Would be in for some compo though.

3 Blair Adams Defender - as much as I like him, the more he's been out of the squad this season, the more I feel he will be told he can find another club. Hope I'm wrong. Probably one of the better crossers we have in our squad and is probably an all round better player than Christie for being able to both defend and attack. Hope I'm wrong though as he was just being 'rested'. Could also be on a decent wage?

4 Andrew Webster Defender - what contract is he on? Only thing going for him is his age and experience. Don't rate him too highly though and if we want to compete next season, I think he's dispensable and may be told he can find a new club. Probably a case of 'thanks but your journey ends here'.

6 Conor Thomas Midfielder - really do not rate this lad. I hope he's told he can move on, but as our club persists with the 'we will use academy products in our team', I think he'll be kept on.

7 John Fleck Midfielder - almost an ever present this season so can't see him being allowed to move. Not unless someone offers cash. Scottish link also in his favour.

8 Carl Baker Midfielder - assume he's been 'rested' in recent weeks rather than out of favour. Think he said post match he's been taking pain killers recently. Likely to be a bit / part player next year and probably not captain, but I expect him to stay for his last year of his contract.

9 Nathan Eccleston Striker - offered us very little. Will be thanked for being here, but nothing more.

10 Nathan Delfounso Striker - poor signing IMO. Looked a bit more lively in the last two games, but I think that was helped by other players / opposition being in down time mode. As above, won't earn a contract and will get a "thanks" from SP but nothing more.

11 Dylan McGeouch Midfielder - I really do not know why we signed him. Unless it was a Uquart-sequel signing, with him filling a spot on the bench just to make the numbers up. Be surprised if we tried to get him permenantly.

13 Lee Burge Goalkeeper - rave reviews from his previous loan stints. One for the future? Needs to be playing regular football if he's going to make it in the game IMO. Be interesting to see if he's kept on, or if he's told he can move on.

14 Franck Moussa Midfielder - think he played his last game for CCFC some weeks ago.

15 Daniel Seaborne Defender - still relatively new to us so will be kept on. Is he the answer for our desperate defence? I'm not sure.

16 Adam Barton Midfielder - can't get in the Fleetwood team. Bye Adam. Not even sure he'll Get a 'thanks' though. Don't know what happened to his career.

17 Billy Daniels Striker - don't really rate him, but as with Thomas, has the 'academy product' tag in his favour. Be surprised if he's told he can leave, although I'd be saying he could if I was gaffer.

18 Aaron Phillips Defender - chances of him being first choice RB next season are very high. No doubts over his CCFC future.

19 Jordan Willis Defender - looked good in recent weeks and rate him more at CB. Keeping Adams out the team so must be rated highly by SP. He'll stay for sure.

20 Callum Wilson Striker - don't really need to include him do I :D

24 Jordan Clarke Defender - almost an ever present, and SP must surely be impressed with his season over all. Can't be knocked back a second year running, and surely not after the way he's turned his CCFC career around.

26 Mark Marshall Midfielder - undecided on this one. Today he was awful, but he seems to like it here, and his assist stats speak for themselves. Think we'll try to keep him, but I worry we'll only want to offer him a 1 year deal and he'll want more (understandably) so he may well move on even if SP rates him and wants to keep him.

27 Anton Robinson Midfielder - looked decent early on, but kinda fizzled out before getting injured. Might offer us something with a decent pre season behind him. In his case, I would offer him a 1 year deal only, as he needs to prove himself. Would SP agree! I'm not sure.

30 Louis Garner Midfielder - already knows his fate. Unfortunate for the lad. If there was one of the three academy lads who may do a 'Jordan Clarke', I hope it's him.

31 Ryan Haynes Defender - one for the future. Will be kept on.

33 Ben Maund Striker - again, knows his fate, good luck Ben.

34 Lewis Rankin Midfielder - again, knows his future is away from the club, don't really know much of him so can't defend or criticise the decision.

35 Alex Gott Goalkeeper - academy kid, don't know much of him. Likely to be kept on though if under contract, especially with uncertainty over JM and LB.

36 James Maddison - again I think as an academy product who hasn't already been told he's being released, I think he'll stay with us.

37 George Thomas Midfielder - as above.

Good assessment SW ,pretty much how I see It .differ on one point re Baker and If they can find a way to cut his wage out they will,Also If fleck Is a saleable commodity will have to think about It sometime this season or he gets to final yr territory.

I hope that's true - I would think that is a fair deal. Include a big bonus for promotion (do that for all the players)

Well according to the guy sat behind me at Bramall Lane yesterday tomorrow shoukd be exciting because:

1. Wilson has already gone to Wolves.

2. ALL the youngsters in the team will leave

3. Pressley is off

4. Marshall hates playing away from Sixfields

5. SISU will announce our permanent move to Mid Wales (yep you read that correctly) as they have identified that as a place where they can start again and build a new following.

Gone anyway (won't be signing or be offered a new contract) Moussa, Christie, Marshall

Bomb squad 2014....... Barton, Adams, Daniels,

New contracts offered too: Murphy, Burge

There could be a surprise, not sure who that will be yet, many say Baker, I personally think and hope Thomas, a players who's development has gone backwards!

It's a big meeting for SP he needs to get it right, he looks after what's on the pitch, and for half of thus season it has not been good enough!

It must have been sky blue kid. He's from Wales isn't he? Perhaps he is renting out his back garden.

Thomas is my main one for the bomb squad. He won't be in it as he is on cheap wages and is young. But he is a bad footballer. Would never question his effort or commitment but lack of tackle and strength with just basic passing and not one goal this season. It doesn't look good. Impression I get is this is the majority view.

Apart from him I can stand others other aren't great. Blair Adams has to go. Completely see why he has been left out. Always tries but lacks any quality for me especially defending as going forward he is ok but can't defend.

Offer Marshall a 2 year contract don't see why not tbh. Not the worlds best but cheap and decent for cheap.

Moussa is gone for sure and why not he is better than us. Fair enough. Christie will go fair enough he is capable of higher. Murphy I would love to stay, a main reason we kept the goals down but he would have to take a pay cut but probably better wages at us than other clubs possible so is 50-50 for me.

Christie, Moussa - Gone
Marshall, Murphy - Might stay if contracts are right.
Baker, Adams, Daniells - Possibly bomb squad
Barton - Definitely bomb squad

Think people are being a bit harsh about Thomas. He started the season well and albeit tailed off the last 10 or so games
but is well worth keeping. No idea why Adams has been left out of the team and would like to see him retained certainly
not "bomb squad" material.

I agree. Him and Fleck looked a perfectly balanced midfield pairing during the first half of the season, think there's a lot of potential there. Seems like he's been around a while, so it's easy to forget he's only 20 years old. Think we'd come to regret it if we let Thomas go.

Agreed, they all collectively Crumbled for a variety of reasons ,overcoming the 10 point handicap quickly being a prime motivator, the obvious exit of Clarke, but the contentious one for me was a comment from the manager which allowed for failing after Insisting he was going to rid us of that culture .Mixed Message.

Sure he must have had his reasons for doing so ??

IMO it isn't harsh on Thomas, he was carried when the team was winning and people don't judge him when the team wins but when the going got tough he went missing in games. Found out a lot about him then. No goals also which doesn't help.
He is only 20 but don't see much regret in letting him go. I don't think anyone would have him and not reason we do is because he is free and cheap wages tbh.

Agree with you, Sutty and Skyblue57.

Definitely agree about the manager comment. Would also add the fact SP seems to be thrilled about our finishing position. Not exactly a success. Deeply worrying.

Still don't understand the praise Jordan Clarke has received this season, yes he has had the best season of his career but he has still made umpteen mistakes and been part of a defence that has conceding a stupid amount of goals.

My ideal starting line up for next season:

Murphy

Phillips
New centre half (Willis)
Seabourne (an additional new centre half)
Adams

New Midfielder
Fleck

Baker
New Midfielder
New Midfielder

Wilson (New Striker as a bid of 3 million and he's gone imo)

Going/Get rid of:
Moose
Christie
Webster (Capped several times for Scotland and yet can't do the basics well)
Thomas (Not a Clue what Liverpool saw in him, no defensive/attacking qualities in his game, saying that he's mastered the 10 yard pass sideways)
Barton (Ultimately unreliable)
Daniels (No obvious qualities, better players in non league)
Clarke (Not good enough)
Marshall (Don't think he's worth the wages, technically restricted too)

Can't comment on the loans, but think both Prutton and Robinson could do a decent job if deployed in defensive midfield.
Delf is an interesting one, broke records for Villa's youth sides so the quality MUST be there, his goals for us have been instinctive finishes and that's his game (being a finisher). The fact we've played dreadful defensive football since he's been here suggest both he and Callum haven't had the service (hence Callum's goals drying up). With that in mind I'd take him on a free IF Pressley intends to attack teams next season

Judging by Murphy's interview I don't think he is going to stay. It's the typical Waggott spoke to me in Nov and I haven't heard since! Lol

He won't be offered a new contract.

I hope Joe Murphy stays, I do think Moussa has played his last game for the Club, Cyrus Christie see's staying here as a last resort also so I'd bid Cyrus farewell. Bar that I'd like to keep as many players as possible as we have currently on the books, I have been told by someone that has been told directly from David Prutton that Prutton would love to sign here, whether it happens...

Early days, but I reckon young George Thomas could become a decent player for us. Not sure if it will be next season or the one after that he's fully up and running. If SISU spend naff all, I think we might end up seeing a bit of him, creative and with an eye for goal?

Thomas was excellent in the first half of the season. We missed him massively when we got thumped by Tranmere at home when he was sat in the stands. We were at our best this season when he was running from midfield and putting pressure on the back four or the deep lying midfielders, and I think this is his game. Once he began to tire I think Pressley tried to change his role to accommodate him and this was when he tailed off.

i really rate thomas based on potential if not what he was producing later on in the season.

here would be my squad for next season based on 442 and having 2 players for each position;

Keeper - New keeper + (burge) i'd let murphy go partly cus i don't really rate him but more importantly i think we could spend the money we'd need to pay him eslewhere
RB - Jordan Clarke + Phillips
LB - Adams + Haynes
CB - New Centre back + Willis
CB - New centre back + webster ( i hope seabourne is shown the door)
CM - Thomas
CM - Fleck
RB - Baker + Daniels
LB -
Fwd - Wilson
Fwd -
