I think it's a relatively weak league - there's an opportunity there to be taken if the clowns off the pitch can sort their shit out between them.

I think 3 out of 24 will probably go up. Don't quote me on that.

Next year if we actually have a good summer we could piss this league. At the Ricoh and attract and pay some good players from clarkes money and 10k more fans. Top 6 would be a cert if the "clowns" actually sorted it out.

Clarkes money's gone on operating costs......even with backing I'm not sure we could 'piss' this league.

We could and would of never got relegated from championship but for bad management.

Well I accidently deleted my long and thorough reply post.
In short, I think Blades will win the league next season, with Preston and MK "Dons" also promoted. Scunthorpe, Gills, Crewe, plus this year's L2 playoff winner will get relegated. We will finish 1 or 2 points above the drop and continue our third tier tour indefinitely until off field garbage is worked out. I imagine Cov City will be strong bookie favorites for relegation, though I think we will squeak by and survive again.

This season I picked Sheff, Wolves, and Orient to go up, and Crewe, Tranmere, Stevenage Boro, and Carlisle to go down. Half my picks worked out atleast, so I feel half-smart....

My prediction is that we will remain what we have become for next season. Mid-League 1 selling club, playing home matches at Sixfields.
Several youngsters will be throw into the mix again, & we will be in play-off contention until end if January...said youngsters either sold for a quick-buck, injured, suspended or not quite cutting it.
Of course if something really signficiant develops behind the scenes - things could e a whole lot worse...or indeed a whole lot better.
Over & above that. Many are appearing to simply disregard the play-off teams entirely, as well as two of the relegated teams. It would be reasonable to expect one of the newly promoted teams to be a nuisance challenger for play-offs, two of the newly relegated teams to be contenders, & two of the current play-off teams to be in the mix again.
Anyone expecting us to mount a serious challenge without that really significant thing behind the scenes might avoid further heartache next season by rethinking things now.

i dont think we will be anywhere near bookies favs to be relegated.

Certainly I respect you and your opinion.
But I think a lot of neutrals will look at us, see a threadbare team, little budget, and ownership content to shoot their team and manager in the foot, and ask "Where will this team be by end of the season?" And with the form we had in the second half this year, they will point and say "That's the real Cov."
Personally, as mentioned before, I don't think we will get the drop, but I could understand neutrals and bookies perspectives. But, we will survive, and I hope I hope I hope something gets worked out off-season to give us a better fighting chance to challenge for promotion.

One of the bottom 3-4 turnovers in the championship, we'd have gotten relegated eventually. I think you're over egging some of this squad. Would need a completely new squad (exception of Wilson and murphy) to 'piss' this league.

With the squad we are likely to have next season we will not be 'pissing' anything, I'm afraid. Some half-decent free signings should see us survive and finish mid-table. But Pressley's record isn't that great in the transfer market, and players will hardly be queueing round the block to sign, especially on the probable budget available. If it's a weak league, that means everyone will be beating each other again, so the survival target may be higher too.

Although we should be capable of survival in League One, the real worry has to be survival as a club, of course. That is a much greater problem.

We should be aiming for play offs minimum but we won't have a squad capable of it

How do people think this team would do?
----------Burge
Phillips--Clarke--Webster/Seabourne--Adams
Petrasso--Thomas--Fleck------Marshall
----------Wilson--New signing

Sub GK
Willis
Baker
Daniels
Haynes
Webster/Seabourne

Supplemented with a few loans and free signings

A piss poor league is about to get a lot poorer imo. Donny, Barnsley & Yeovil wouldn't have got into the league one playoffs this season with their squads. One of Preston or Rotherham to go up for me (via this seasons playoffs) with that I can see Sheffield United romping to the title followed closely by either Preston or Rotherham (whichever one doesn't go up). For us it's hard to say at this stage, replace those outgoing with competent league one players and we should challenge for the play offs. Keep Wilson, add some actual quality and automatic would be possible as once again the league is shaping up to be of a very poor standard

It all depends on who they bring in, moussa's and Clarke's goals will be a big miss as will Murphy between the sticks and IMO we simply won't have the money to replace these guys with the right quality. We can argue that we should be mid-table without the points deduction so should be fine but from our end of season form and with the expected exodus of quality I think we will struggle.

As for who goes up Sheffield utd, any of the current play off teams except Orient and I think Bristol City might be in with a shout. It's a sad thing to say but with our current of the field problems I can see us stuck in this league for quite some time and more than likely having a few relegation battles along the way.

Things are taking a similar shape to when we got relegated from the Prem.

Year 1: Excellent squad but fucked up the start.
Year 2: Ex player in charge. Decent squad - in with a shout of the play offs but a poor end to the season and off the field issues hampering the progress.
