My thoughts (4 Viewers)

Firstly I would like to point out Leicester lost 2-0 at home to a side that have just lost there top scorer and their star centre half from last season. This really puts into perspective out result and performance last week.

Secondly I thought Birmingham looked a decent side, better than leicester, but did not look like world beaters. I expect them to challenge for the playoffs but I don't see them as automatic contenders. They moved the ball well and pressed hard in packs to try and stop us.

I thought we were much improved on the Leicester performance but are still a few notches away from where I would like us to be. Juke led the line well and O'donovan playing behind him was just looking for knock downs and didn't contribute much to the forward play, a player playing behind a front man needs to be a link man and O'donovan is not this. Going forward we were better and our players tried to get in behind the opposition full backs and defence at times. Bell for large parts was a complete passenger and we are not good enough to carry players through the game.

Ratings
Murphy-7- Made a routine long shot save and was unlucky with the goal as he had produced a magnificent finger tip save seconds before
Christie-6- Is not ready for championship football yet, he is a good prospect but Clarke is still young and better than Christie. Dived in a few times and got beaten
Keogh-7-I thought he was excellent today, made some crucial interceptions and blocks and defended brilliantly
Hussey-6-defended well got into some good positions but never delivered the ball with any quality.
Cranie-6-Solid, made one great headed clearance from a corner under immense pressure
Clingan-8-Passed well and controlled the midfield well, forced the keeper into a good save with a good free kick. Looked to attempt the forward pass alot more times than last week.
Gael-7-Looked calmed and composed next to Clingan, made a couple of great tackles early on
Bell-5- let the game pass him by, never does anything creative every time he receives the ball he just plays a simple 5 yard pass. His most notable contribution was an overhit cross.
Mcsheffery-5-A good long shot which forced the keeper into a good save, looked better on the left hand side than upfront but still not the Mcsheffery I saw at the end of last season. Seemed to drift in and out of the game
O'donovan-5-Worked hard but little quality, played behind Juke which was an odd choice by Thorn
Juke-7-Worked hard and gave the Birmingham defenders a torrid time, he seems to be the sort of player that defenders hate playing against but he is not a natural goal scorer. Missed our best chance of the game in the first half when he shot wide when he should have really scored. Looked very tired after 75 mins.

Again much improved on Leicester performance but still a long way to go to replicate the performances of last season under Thorn, again as I said last week if we are relying on players like Bell and Mcsheffery to create our chances I am worried.

I think against Palace on Tuesday will give us a good indication of where we stand as a team, if Palace comfortably get the better of us on Tue I would start to worry.

Bell, RO'D and McSheffery went missing for much of today- not useful in a side that is lacking quality.

Can see plenty of 1-0 defeats this season as it stands, lacking a cutting edge up front (someone to play off Jukebox) and no plan B when conceding.

When the fixtures came out and Incester/ Bum were the first two teams to play City,
i expected a HEavy thumping.Having a -2 does not look so bad to me.Those 2 teams should be in the top 6,
its the rest of the games we need to be getting points from.

Only 2 games in so,,,Dont panic Mr ..........

My thoughts? We've played two of the best teams in the league and made them play and we've been difficult to beat. Yes, obviously we need a striker, but whether or not that happens is debatable. So, personally I would say attack the board by all means, but leave the players alone. Let them play.

See the thing is after seeing them two sides play I don't think Leicester looked anything near a top side and Birmingham I think will be there or there abouts. As I say I think the Palace match will show us where we really are compared to the rest of the teams.

I am not panicking yet.

I am not attacking the players, I am expressing an opinion and stating where I think they could have done better. How can you say Leicester and Birmingham are two of the best teams in the league? You can say they have two of the best squads in the league but not teams. How can they be the two best teams in the league when they are 12th and 15th. Birmingham and Leicester probably performed at about 30% of what there squad could potentially do and still beat us with out getting out of first gear against us.

Guys, first 5 games of the season mean nothing for overall form, people are finding their feet, others hit the ground running and run out of steam. Far too early to be suggesting who will be anywhere in this league.

i agree with a lot about our effort but i thought brum were poor very poor, upfront they were almost as bad as us .we are in huge trouble until we get another striker and a pacey winger.but in my view brum wont be anywere near top 6

I agree but to state that Leicester and Birmingham are two of the best sides in the league is absurd after both teams have had a fairly indifferent start to the season. Leicester and Birmingham are still finding there feet and have had poor starts to the season, this was the right time to play them whilst they are both below par but still we managed to pick up 0 points. I am not saying they won't pick up but based on early performances I would 100% not call Birmingham and Leicester two of the best sides in the divsion. I would have much rather started with Leicester/Birmingham than Southamton/Brighton who have came out of the tracks very fast.

I am not scare mongering saying we are doomed etc. I believe today was a big improvement on last weekend but still not good enough, in short spells I saw that we have enough about us to stay up this season. On Tuesday we will see how we shape up to one of our so called "rivals" for relegation.

time will tell how good or bad brum, fester or City are but after 2 league games it's no time to be getting on any of the players backs , unless you want their heads to drop and loose all confidence, resulting in them playing even worse. PUSB

I agree, I am not getting on there backs. In the match I cheered then on and tried to encourage them for 90 mins. I am simply reflecting on the performance, whilst you don't want to demoralise players you can't pretend everything is rosy in the garden either.
