I'm not for wading into these argument as people's opinions are pretty set, but one question I'd ask is: if the fans happiness with the move to Northampton isn't measured by the attendance, what is it measured by?

Active, not passive.
Full, loud attendance at Sixfields, and outside. Massive attendance at events in the city, large turnout for a Football League demonstration.
Get people in the habit of saying they're not happy.
Rather than the habit of doing staying at home, the habit that shouts apathy.
Demonstrate money is not what it's about, because it isn't. It's about a club and a culture, so splintering the culture bit is self-defeating.

Also, wouldn't you then be open to the same snide comments the Starbucks drinking Occupy protestors got? Not to mention the holier than thou "not in front of the children" attitude several on here and certainly all over GMK have when anyone protests during the 90 minutes.
Frankly, as much as others may rail against it, I think the absolute best way to show that you will not follow CCFC to Northampton is to not follow them to Northampton.
Ultimately this whole debacle has shown that we have no voice other than speaking with out wallets. We are just consumers in their eyes and should act accordingly.
The fire and brimstone is nice, if it wasn't patently obvious that it'd be met with a wall of apathy from the FL, Sisu, FA, government, etc.

I think at this point you're probably right, as I said people are set. I was mistaken and coming at this from the other end of why tell people they should go.
As a financial constraint, yes. I don't think anyone thought Joy was going to run out of cash, but it certainly means she'll be spending/writing off more than she otherwise would've done. And while it may be petty and pointless, for a lot of people it gives them a sense of control and power in an out of control powerless situation (much like arguing on message boards). It's the same as "Shitfields" and other gallows humour. It's a natural expression of frustration at an inability to change things.
The thing with NOPM has always been that it's detractors label it as one thing and it's proponents another. I've never seen it as 100% financial, mostly moral and just to make a point. Also, there's a case to be made that you can rationalise any protest (or in fact any action full stop) to the level where it's absurd. Not sure it's helpful though.
I suppose the question is: is your point to make others feel bad about their coping mechanism or is there a wider goal?

The financial argument about not going to Northampton is fatally flawed. it presupposes the difference between a large drop in short term revenue, and a large drop in short term revenue makes the difference. It doesn't. If it did, we wouldn't have chosen a ground where only 2/3 of the previous season's average attendance could fit in if full, we wouldn't have chosen a ground where that capacity reduces still further.
And there are many reasons not to go to Northampton, all fine. In fact, forget about the wilful choices not to go, focus on those who because of the move are now, no longer able to go, whether they want to or not. Now there's a story to run with... far more cutting than playing SISU at the financial game, far more demonstrating what a football club's supposed to be about.
But if you don't follow passive with active, then it all says nobody cares.
And couple that with the attempts of some to drive divides deeper when, actually, there's a story to be made about people with the same beliefs split by 35 miles... and you increase the chances of nobody bothering.
And if nobody bothers, then what's the point? The Ricoh may as well become a national kabbadi centre, the club may as well go out of business, we may as well all start watching the Speedway instead.

People have to do what is right for them. Not going because you believe they shouldn't leave their home town is perfectly understandable, I would never criticise someone for making that choice.
The point I was making is that the idea SISU could be financially starved out as a result of NOPM is misguided.
Instead - What if all those that won't go to Sixfields all went and stood outside Ricoh every game - the publicity that would get would far surpass anything that has happened before. Would still be a NOPM style protest but be far more powerful.

It is, and that's why it's crazy to turn on those who do go, why turn off even more... not just those who do go, but those who are fans of the club because it's supposed to be us against the world, not us against each other.
Better to direct those passions against SISU/ACL/FL/FA/CCC/JS's cat/Godzilla than our own fans, and at least show there's a body of people there that it's worth being part of.
Because there is... not that you'd know it if you just passed by here!

Yeah, I think (hope) that most people never thought Sisu could be starved out (at least not in a year or so), I've only ever seen it put across on here by detractors claiming that NOPM isn't working. That side of the strategy would always be a gamble and was always going to take at least a couple of seasons to impact.
To be honest, if most are like me at the moment, they're sick of protests and marches and all the other crap when you know ahead of time that the response will be the same.
A couple of months ago I'd have been all over a private meeting with Joy or Tim, now I couldn't care less, what's the point? What difference will any of it make? If you don't change your mind with the fans, the council, the press, the FL, the government pressuring you, you don't change your mind (besides I suspect that not changing her mind is something of a badge of honour for Seppala, something else she's got in common with Thatcher and just as dangerous and wrong headed).

This complete farce of a situation has been generated in my opinion over many of years, I was reading McGinnity's statement yesterday who was slating Sisu and the situation we are in, but I think that hypocritical, Mike McGinnity had a contributing factor as to why we are where we are today and should look at himself in the mirror.
I have said before, there is no such thing as "true fans" or "real fans" we are all fans of our Football Club and we all support our Club in different ways, that being said when a thread starts up about people standing on the hill you don't see many of the posters resembled with attending Sixfields mocking those on the hill or the people who don't even bother attending. Yet the moment we get on to the discussion of Sixfields attendee's there are so many accusations and implications thrown about and it makes you wonder why? I understand Spoinkop GPE and many others are frustrated at our situation, to be fair we all are frustrated, but turning on each other and insulting one another isn't what we should be doing.
I suspect GPE thought he was going to get something more in literate out of me from his post but I won't rise to it. This argument started because some fans are not happy that others are attending Sixfields.
Everyone will make their own choices, I don't attend Sixfields but I respect the choices of those who do and that's how it should all be, but there are some who must realise that positioning the blame to those fans who attend Sixfields is wrong and will only cause further divisions between fans.

If sales increase it will be spun by the club as an endorsement of their suicidal decision making. If sales were to decrease even further, and crowds to sink even lower, then there is only one possible interpretation. The reality is nobody endorses playing in Northampton however I can't stand people's decisions to go being used by the higher ups to somehow legitimise what they're doing. I live too far away to go anyway but if I didn't I wouldn't go into Sixfields, not just out of principle but also because I don't want my support of the team deliberately conflated as support for the owners' actions. Not by fellow fans, but by the club itself.
Also, and I've said this before, it's despicable that the club is charging transport for those few who want to make the journey.
