That's a broad brush you have there. How do you know "most people" who came to visit in 103 years thought it lacked atmosphere?

And again, I disagree. Yes, I remember some crap games but I also have many memories of great football with great atmosphere.

Having lived all over the country talking football with opposing fans, no one torch, has ever put Highfield Road forward as a great ground to visit.

The majority thought it totally lacked atmosphere. The "most" refers to countless fans I have spoken to who have visited over the years. So it is based on the feedback I have personally received.

Not disputing some great football or even some great atmospheres.....but people's general impression was not a great ground.

That is not to say I haven't spent years trying to defend it ;-)

Well if you've spoken to "most" of the many hundreds of thousands who visited HR for the century it existed then fair enough.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Mr Creosote i have always bigged up the Ricoh. Look at my history. Its a top top stadium with amazing facilities. Prehaps a little under used when CCFC were there. There is not a ground better in the midlands. IMO.

I always prefer Ricoh over HR as a VENUE! Its not even close.

However nothing can compare to the MEMORIES of HR.
Top flight footy.

Whealan, Hucks, Dublin, Nuddy, Regis, Bennet i could go on.

People get confused when comparing the Venues and memories. And what memories we have!

Name three things that make the Ricoh the best ground in the midlands for football fans.

Highfiejd road was a typical urban footba ground and as good as most in that category.

Name them or go away. Coventry should be in Coventry. Not rocket science

I'll name one... Me..

I'll openly admit I disliked the Ricoh in comparison to Highfield Road, however compared to having a Club in Coventry or not, it's a different scenario.

1. Its in Coventry. So thats the show stopper my friend!
2. Its got a casino and bars that i want to drink in. Facilities that match the impressive arena.
3. Ease of use to get to. Great access to the motorway. PS. and soon to get even better transport links.

Never heard what a f##kin shit hole song have you?

Pisses all over Villa park/st andrews. Just need our team back now. :)

It's not the moaning that annoys me, it's the way hardly anyone turned up when we were there that's annoying.

Admittedly, I have never liked the Ricoh compared to HR, but I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Really? what were our average gates at the Ricoh? I have been in bigger crowds at the Ricoh than I ever had at HR. When we were in a lower division, at a lower ebb, with a lower quality team. Lets get some true perspective here for once.

The number of fans posting on this site wanting and asking to return to their so called home "Ricoh Arena" is a joke!

Less than two years ago before the SISU / ACL saga many of you were reminiscing about Highfield Rd and slagging off everything to do with Ricoh and how it was being managed.. There were constant moans about the atmosphere, how far away from the pitch the seats were and the general facilities, to mention only a few of the moans.

I'm not sure a return to the Ricoh would really please some fans, because what the hell would you moan about then.........

I have to say, I agree with your sentiment. As the more informed on here know, I'm not one to have a pop at fellow fans so probably wouldn't be so forthright with my opinion, but I'm sure I've said on old threads pretty much the same thing.

I think the reality of not having to Ricoh has enabled the old 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' scenario.

To be fair to the OP...there were many who complained about The Ricoh when we were there, but I get that our situation has changed opinions and we need to be back there.

I wouldn't have a go at the OP though...he's correct...many did slag it off when we were there....now it's where we all want/need to be.

I think you are just being pedantic, I am not trying to claim I have spoken to the many hundreds of thousands who have visited HR....and you know it.

The worst thing about HR for atmosphere was the West End acoustics. A right din if you were in the middle of it, but fairly tame if you were in other parts of the ground.

Id say we had similarly high and low crowds at the ricoh as we did at highfield rd, if you look at the numbers... It just felt worse because of the size of the ricoh! But both of them were our home and i felt part of something at both of them. Never been to sixfields so i cant comment on that but for me, 9000 or 19000 the ricoh felt like ours!

What I don't get is that we rent the Ricoh it's not ours and is a shit hole concrete white elephant in a shite area called Holbrooks !!!!

We rent Shitfields but that is a great little ground with good parking and great atmosphere????

And that is the Comment from some of our own..

Fuckin Scabs......

It' s not the Ricoh, who could dislike the stadium it's the location stuck on the edge of the city compared to the location of HR was always going to affect attendances

But the average attendances were higher then HR?

I miss the west terrace...

Atmosphere is created by a large amount of people having a good time ! The football played at the Ricoh could never encourage a good time, and therefor not a large amount of people . Success on the pitch would have lifted the place .
The impressive look up to the front of the stadium from the road is amazing .
All the business partners I have taken there say it's among the best they've visited
The casino down below is a great pre game drinks venue

The West Terrace was much better when it was the West End before they put the family stand on the top

The fact that you idiots still are bitching about the Ricoh its clear to me you dont deserve it as your home! CCFC have done you a favour moving to Sixfields because at lease you have something real to complain about.
I fear that ACL will move on now the JR is sorted and will bring another team or sport to the Ricoh then we will be locked out forever. You so called fans complaining about one of the best things that happened to CCFC in recent years (i.e The Ricoh) will be truely screwed if this happens. I suppose if this happens you can then start reminisiing about Sixfields and how wonderful that was.
