Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed the club have offered a contract to an unnamed striker who has been on trial at the club.

The striker has been on trial at the club for 10 days and has impressed during his time with the Sky Blues, scoring a hat-trick during one pre-season training session.

The City manager previously stated that he was looking to bring in three strikers but today, he said he could potentially bring in as many as four.

Pressley said: "We've had a striker in for the best part of ten days on trial and he has trained exceptionally well.

"He is a player we've always liked and he is a player who is best suited to playing in a partnership up front.

"He is a terrific finisher which is crucial. We've offered him a contract and we're hoping to have a positive response.

"I've said a number of times that we want to bring in three strikers but it may well be four."

Seems to be a fairly solid 1 goal in 4 striker. Much like an ex-player of ours getting slagged off for pretty much that exact record in another thread. Would be OK with a goalscorer alongside him I guess.

Edit: He's 5'8 so he'd be taking the Wilson role I assume? Maybe he is the goalscorer.

Will be a good signing in our system, hate it when people look at past records, Wilson had no previous and McGoldricks was piss poor before coming to us, in the right set up playing the right football and creating chances, goals will come for any half decent striker.

For once I agree with you. I remember the "bloody SISU going with the cheap option, an Academy kid...." threads.

Was Callum Wilson inspiring this time last year ?

Any way. Said would give him a chance. I hate writing players off before they have played for us. Just commenting that his record thus far in this league isn't great.

Out for 9 months in 2013 with cruciate ligament damage and scored 4 in 22 since the return. 3 of those were in the last 8 though. alot of our signings seem to be big injury worries which of course means a good value player if it comes off but it seems like a risk.

It's not a problem, but it could potentially be if he bangs in say 15 goals by Jan, he could talk to anyone after that period.

And we've seen it so many times recently..
