Message to all Cov fans.

Just want to say a massive thanks to all the fans who have supported me over the years and got behind me as captain. When Mark Robbins handed me the armband I can honestly say it was one of the proudest moments of my career I took full responsibility and have given 100% to this club and always will obviously I'm gutted to have it taken of me but I have a lot of respect for the gaffa and club so accept their decision. I still have a year contract and will honour that and give my all as always for the badge until I'm told otherwise ‪#‎pusb‬

That's a good message. Personally I thought his form dipped after getting the captaincy, so hopefully he can concentrate on his game now.

He's been a great loyal servant to the club and even made a good captain I feel. Really disappointed for him to lose the captaincy, especially to a new signing who hasn't even played for us yet and could quite possibly absolute shite.

Baker used to get loads of greif, and divided opinion. I always felt great with him as captain, gave it is all amd it was nice to see someone who treated it as a gift rather than a right.

Fair play to him. But, not purposely being controversial. Who cares? Get on with it. Giving 100% should be a given too.

he spoke out about it because hundreds of fans have been asking him on facebook how he feels and why he has been stripped of captaincy, is he leaving etc etc.

Not because he thinks he's gods gift and that we all care about his opinion.

I really feel for the bloke and can't help wondering if Sisu may be trying to engineer his exit to cut the wage bill. I seem to recall there was a previous comment a few weeks back about him being told he could leave if he could find a suitable club?

Fair enough. I didn't realise that. I'm sure everyone's mind is at ease now.

of course, a slim possibility. does it still warrant taking the captaincy from a loyal servant at the club to give to a new signing without knowing whether he is fantastic or shite. THAT'S my point.

I don't think he plays in the right position to be an effective captain. He will always try to lead by example but doesn't see enough of the game from where he is.

He really had to do it as he gets plagued with messages and questions even when talking about TV or something unrelated to Cov. And that's just the public messaging.

Once my hip-hop career takes off I'm cutting off all contact with Joe Public.

If you didn't moan, sulk and flap your arms like an angry seagull, then you might still have the armband. No loss.

Last season extremely quiet during games never giving praise to players or helping out verbally, this will enable Baker to concentrate on his own game.

Better to have someone with more leadership skills such as Johnson at the back who can organise.

Why is he being forced out? Once people are made captain should they stay there forever no matter what?

Lots of sanctimonious stuff here. Baker has always been very clever at using the media but the truth is he is a player who previously reached the dizzy heights of Stockport and Southport. He is by anyone's definition a league one journeyman.

He will have earned in excess of one million pounds in his time with the club - not bad - especially as he was a serial underachiever for half the time he has been here.

He is the biggest earner at the club and I am sure he will stay loyal for another season. He bleeds Sky Blue - 8,000 pints a week apparently.

Sometimes I think we get all we deserve.

He is one of ours so how about you support him. Why do you care about the money - it isnt yours, or do you just prefer spending it on lawyers?

Kevin Kyle was one of ours, would he have been if he had Facebook? Nobody ever mentioned David bell and his wages did they?

Why go on about the money he earns we should be looking at the people who gave him the deal instead, this club should have nobody earning more than 3 or 4 k per week and that includes super Timmy.

From those I know close to the club, he does a lot of unheralded work with kids, schools etc - apparently a bit of a model pro. Shame he had one good game in 10 in the Championship and at times seemed incapable of crossing the ball without blazing it into the stand, even with nobody within 10 yards of him. His performance at the 0-4 at Southampton when we went down was unforgivably poor for a side that needed real leadership.

Appears to me he's trying to be forced out the club to be quite honest.

Wouldn't be terrible if he did leave tbh, he is getting on now and will easily be the highest paid player now.

Thanks for all you have done over the past 2 years but I think it may be time for him to move on.

The reason fans should want him moved on is that he is on 4 times the average wage of a league one player and the budget will be better without him.

As for "supporting him" I suggest you look at the threads started about him when in the championship. Plenty didn't support then.

To give the captaincy to a new player before a ball has been kicked is the biggest hint the club can give him without pointing to the exit door.I like Baker and if he stays on great but maybe it's time to move now.
It happens in all clubs in all divisions even at international level, look at Gerrard and Lampard there being edged out.
