You miserable twats, this is potentially a fantastic step in the right direction..even the language is more concillatory. We are coming home boys.

Only if ACL agree to have talks.

It's the first time Joy and Tim have said they are ready to come back to the Ricoh which is a very big positive, Fisher said last week that they were still pursuing the appeal, over to ACL I guess?

There is no mention of the JR appeal. Part of the deal to be reviewed?
A counter statement from ACL saying they will discuss deal prior to FL decision would have me more optimistic than in a long, long while.
Please sort this so I can take my young son up to the Ricoh next year. Otherwise I might lose him to Pompey!

Here's our report with a bit more background included: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-city-owners-issue-new-7470493

Crucially: "The club previously confirmed it will not drop its legal action as requested by ACL - which means Sky Blues fans will potentially have to wait even longer for any negotiations to begin while the appeal process runs its course."

The way I see it Simon is that is ACLs problem to deal with. I don't see why it has to be dependent if they really are the good guys as everyone thinks.

We need a public meeting with both sides to explain why we have to wait.

i'm convinced this is all part of the "keeping the options open" that the FL will have suggested as part of them being allowed to be in Northampton.

"We have a proposal", when they know that ACL wont talk until the last debt is sorted out and they stop being dragged through the courts.

FL will meet on 7th to discuss. They will then communicate with ACL and SISU (this will take longer than it should). ACL will get some money, but as the appeal process continues, and will be heard in front of 3 senior judges, ACL wont be able to budge.

Unless, the old "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" rings true !

Poor lad his choice is

A) A basket case of a football club or

B) A basket case of a football club:facepalm:

Tell him to support MU,Chelsea or some other team where he wont be like us.

For all we know the "proposal" sisu have lined up is to drop the appeal? I think this was implied in the letter just not in a direct way.

so If I want to play in your backgarden, despite not paying for playing in it last time, whilst also taking you to court to try and get your house for free, you'd happily open the door to a deal ?

I didn't say it was the ideal stance. Simply underlining where we are in the process.

Concessions needed on all sides I would imagine.

More spin possibly, and pressure tactics to make ACL look the bad guys in this scenario, trying to get hopes up and then blame ACL if takes fall down - most likely pointing to we had to pursue the case through the courts etc etc.

7th August is mightily late in the day to start fulfilling home fixtures at the Ricoh, is their any rules stopping a club moving ground mid season?

Really do not know how to take this.

First impressions were its a further charm offensive. And lets face it these two have more spin than a Hotpoint, and thier past rhetoric has been 95% Bull.

This letter can be read many ways I.e.

"In the meantime, we have our proposal ready to go but given ACL's position we await the outcome of the Football League meeting in 16 days time. We can then pay the required money and get down to the business of agreeing the terms of an interim deal at the Ricoh Arena".
So still planning to build your own stadium? or just leverage? Why an interim deal

As we've maintained all along, we are happy to pay any amount owed and sufficient funds are already sitting in an escrow account waiting to be paid following the outcome of their discussions.]
Just pay up and build some good will. At best it will mean that you pay 300k over the odds. FFS you pay that QC more for less than a weeks work

Finally, we want our supporters to know that we want what is best for the long term future of the club, built on financial stability and ensuring that Steven Pressley has access to the money you spend on match days to improve and grow the calibre of the first team squad.
Sorry but that is spin, we have learnt from past experience your protestations regarding the true improvement of the team and the club are subordinate to you walking off with the Arena.

So in the end, I feel totally ambivalent to the letter.
My head says its simple spin, my heart says just get us home.
My head says something has to be conceded to break the deadlock and therefore must be done, My heart says O' Fuck its SISU

why don't SISU show a gesture of good will and pay the £590k to ACL, on the proviso that any overpayment as ruled by the FL on 7th Aug is returned to them ?. That way, talks can start tomorrow ?

Guys stop it.

The message is clear and there is no messing around here imo of course.

This isn't a diversion tactic to the fl or more spin.

To me its a clear concession to wanting a deal to come back and its obvious. Sisu have no reason of obligation to put out these letters. The message from sisu is loud and clear. We want back to the ricoh asap.

P.s look at the language used. there is no silly remarks and/or blame game tactics. The words like interim and proposal indicates this is serious and has no suggestion of the bs they normally produce.

Yet more Seppala/Fisher waffle.
First a statement on the eve of the sky blue trust sponsored march, now a statement on the eve of a sky blues trust "boycott" vote.
SISU are desperate and cannot be trusted.
I want the City to come home as much as anyone else, until SISU self evicted, I had held a season ticket for 25 consecutive seasons.
All SISU have to do is pay what they owe, drop their appeal and I am sure sensible negotiations can take place.
Leopards do not change their spots....
Until then NOPM.

Seen as were dealing with people who have had certain issues regarding the truthfulness of their statements before, I am cautious about seeing this as a positive statement.

I see this more as an attempt to paint ACL as the bad guys.

"We are happy to pay any amount owed". The amount owed is £590k, that is where we are. So why not pay it?

ACL need to call their bluff here. Agree to meet with them to discuss in principle a new deal. But make it crystal clear from the start that they wont be allowed to set foot into the Ricoh until they pay the £590k and stop harassing the Coventry taxpayer.

They could pay the 590k and the proposal im convinced they have is to drop the JR. This is the reason it is not mentioned directly in the letter.

If I was ACL directors I would hear them out as what could they lose?

Sisu's proposal could be drop the JR for a deal of some sort?

yet they haven't even sent it to ACL ?

ACL might say they don't want to deal with them at the mo........

I don't want to pay my gas bill, but they still send it !. No reason whatsoever why SISU shouldn't send this.

I don't get why they haven't sent it and added "we have sent it to ACL and await their response"

The language is more concillatory certainly. But what does it actually say that is new? What is actually changed other than the language on a statement.

- Nothing will happen before the 7th
- the Football League has not made a decision
- The appeal, which like it or not if you were ACL is a valid pre condition to discussions, has not been dropped. I would suspect that the leave to appeal papers have been presented and await the judges decision. If leave not given who here believes that such action will stop at that point? I think there will be further court actions. The result of that is more time effort and money being drained from ACL - in their shoes would you really drop the precondition? Especially for a short term rent deal while SISU/CCFC build their own stadium?

Can not help feel that the fans are being played - hope I am wrong

Unless you've seen the agreement in writing from the football league you don't know the conditions set.

If the league decide its £290,000 due to the agreed criteria for payment that's the amount owed.

The league presented Otium with the Golden Share on the condition that they pay ACL £590k by 31/05/2014. That has never been disputed by anyone. If you have evidence to the contrary then post it so we can all see it.

Therefore as it stands today, Otium haven't fulfilled and are in breach of the conditions set down by the FL.

There Is a reason It's August the 7th,the timetable has been chosen .

I do realize that sombody chose the date wingy... or there wouldn't be a date, but thanks

There is one simple concession to be made on each side.

SISU have to drop the appeal
ACL have to accept that the money is with the FL and it is their call when and how much they get

No reason at all for talks not to be happening.

So no change basically, the litigation continues.

I hope the FL stick to their guns, they look weak enough as it is without backing down on what they've previously stated is a condition of Otium obtaining the golden share

Full monies lodged in an 'escrow' account, amount to be decided by FL.

Sorry no breach, FL's timetable think you'll find. PUSB!

100% agree. Why put the statement out if not? Sisu want back and don't want to wait til 7th August that for sure.

The statement is stating lets talk now.
