Thomas' main strength (that goes under most people's radar) is his anticipation, he is at nearly every second ball for 90 minutes....

To be fair he is still very young, and missed the first season after relegation through injury, he may come back stronger this season. Also too early to write off Billy D, he only turned 20 last week, it will be interesting to see how he develops next season too. Not sure he's a central midfielder, but did well drifting from the right when Baker was out injured.

I have no idea what Daniels' best position is, and how he would fit in to our starting XI.

The City manager said: "We're working exceptionally hard to find the right players in bring in. Again, it requires patience as we don't want to rush into any signings.

"We're looking to acquire a left-back, a central midfielder and three strikers, and it's vitally important that we get it right.

"I'm really delighted with the signings we've made so far and I think the fans have been excited by the acquisitions.

"Although we're taking our time, we know the main thing is that the players we bring in have to be right for this football club."

He added: "We had a terrific combination last season with Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson and I think we will be looking for a similar type of partnership next season.

"We're looking for that important link player who connects midfield to attack whilst also having that pace and power which Wilson gave us last season.

"We pass and play but one of the most important things in the system is the speed. Speed gives us a number of options where we can play over the top and on the ground.

"That combination is what we're looking for and we're hopeful we'll be able to find the right recruits to fulfill it."

I have just watched the Interview on SBP, I would say having listened to Pressley and looking at his body language, that we are nowhere near singing a striker.

Looks like Barnsley are putting together a good side in hope of bouncing straight back up. James Bailey and Winnall in the last 2 days.

Those stats are false on wiki, he scored 23 goals in 43 starts and 2 subs. I know quite a few Scunthorpe fans seem to think he will be a one season wonder and aren't devastated to see him leave.

Yes Barnsley will be half decent sure but nothing special. Bailey is a run of the mill midfielder and winnall has just cut it at league 2.

Bakers going IMO, we need 2 more strikers, a fully fit Tudgay would be good.

So far the Sky Blues only have one senior centre-forward in summer signing from Sheffield United Shaun Miller, while youngsters George Thomas and James Maddison have stepped up.
The experienced head of Marcus Tudgay continues his trial period with the club and he would certainly tick the ‘link man’ box if he is offered a contract and can agree terms.

But Pressley would still like to recruit two more. Bournemouth’s Josh McQuoid is waiting to see if he figures in Eddie Howe’s plans this season – a situation that could take another week or two to resolve – and Pressley revealed he’s also tracking another frontman.

“I have had a few names put to me, one in particular who is of interest but I don’t think he’ll trial with us,” said the City boss.
“He’s still contracted to a club and there’s a possibility that he could get out for free but a trial is not an option.
“So there are no plans for anybody to join us yet but that’s not to say that something doesn’t change. But, to be honest, there’s no plan to bring anyone in at the moment.”

He added: “We have spoken a lot about it and we are doing work on recruiting both midfielders and strikers just now, but there’s nothing to report as yet.
“We have a number of targets but we don’t plan to have anyone in on trial in Italy.”
Pressley has dismissed internet rumours suggesting former Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and currently out-of-contract QPR striker Andy Johnson is on his radar.

I'd like to see us in for Dobbie but he's more of a player behind the main forward than an actual striker.

Jake Cassidy signs for notts county. Got away this one I can't help but feel. Only 6 month loan as well. Why couldn't we do that.

Didn't score for Wolves last season and was farmed out to Tranmere where he got 1 in 19 games...
