Ipswich away: Worst away attendance this century? (4 Viewers)

Does anyone know what the worst away attendance has been for us since the prem days.

I know that we took under 250 to burnley and swansea in the last couple off years, but with high prices(unless a sun voucher is used), not the best game to get to and at a fair distance.
Also with it being on a monday night in september, on sky and we could be in a situation where we haven't picked up a win or anymore points, it could be less than 100.

Last year kev monks told us that there was 50 odd away season tickets, whether that has gone down or not, wouldn't be surprised if it had gone down.

I'm not sure whether I will be making it, but I have massive respect for the people that go, it would be a little embarrassing if we take less than 100.

My guess 190, but could be a lot worse.

Let's hope that we made have made movements maybe hoffmans bid excepted and maybe a couple off wins on the board and we may take more, I know I would be a little more tempted to go!

I'm taking the day off and going. Anywhere I've seen Clive Platt score (and actually have a decent game) deserves to be visited once more. :)

Even though it's not too far for me I usually boycott this game because of the price - an absolute joke for a crap stadium and championship football.

Also Ipswich have let in 12 goals in the last 2 games and if we fail to score against this 'defence' it just confirms what we all know about our front players who couldn't hit a barn door with a banana from 5 yards.

tommy, bar Jutkiewicz's simple chance against Birmingham, dare I say we haven't actually created a lot of chances.

Our problems are more to do with creating the chances. There is no way of knowing whether or not taking them is the problem because we haven't done the first bit of actually creating them yet!

2 attacking midfielders and a striker please football gods!

Juke missed 2 against Palace which a clinical striker would have taken.

I must confess, I was horrifically pissed at the Palace game and can't remember those chances.

I do remember O'Donovan having a good one where he shot virtually straight at Speroni. Did the alcohol cloud my judgement and it was actually Jutkiewicz?

I have been sober for the other 3 games and haven't seen many clear cut chances. We seem to end up resorting to long range efforts outside the box as we don't have the players to break down defences in the final third.

I'm an away ST holder and I don't think there are 50 of us, i've been told the figure is about 30.

From my memory the smallest away following I can remember was Hull a few years ago when Dennis Wise scored with an overhead kick. Not sure of the exact number but it was around 100.

no you're quite right, RO'D had one clear chance at Palace and same as Jukey, was a tame effort

I have a Portuguese friend who is a die hard Maritimo fan in the Portuguese league. They are based in Funchal, Madeira which is a few hundred miles off the Portuguese coast. He studies in Coimbra on the mainland which is where Academica play and when the two sides met in Coimbra last year he went to the game and sat in the away end.......by himself. He was the only Maritimo fan at the game. They went on to destroy Academica 5-1 and the players came over and threw a load of shirts to him after the match. Dunno if I would have the balls to sit in the away stand by myself, would be a very strange experience.

Love it. Let's just hope Kev Monks has finished his match report in time to catch the shirts at Portman Rd.

I was at that one. Didn't realise there were that few. How we miss that bit of class in the middle of the park to control the game now. He was single-handedly winning us matches.

I thought in the second half against Watford we created many chance to score and could have had 2-3 goals in the second half.

Anybody know how many we took to Boro away at the end of last season? Didn't seem to be many of us at all.

Cheers. That was another one of those games in which King didn't play and we struggled to make the most of our chances. The tell tale signs were there.

Yeah, that's what made me worried about the season after mk left, because up to that point we had been playing well and then marlon got sick and we struggled a lot, I remember that clarke shot...

2 off. They must have gone to get refreshments. :)

Yep. I was gutted when King left for that very reason. Couldn't see us replacing him and our opening games have shown how important a decent striker can be.
