Sports Centre is nasty inside IMO. As much as I love the elephant and the idea of having an Olympic pool, if it's not sustainable and we get a modern facility I'm all for knocking it down TBH. I just hope that whatever replaces it has some architectural value, but I know that's unlikely in Coventry.

I just hope that whatever replaces it has some architectural value, but I know that's unlikely in Coventry.

The elephant is however a fascinating piece of modern architecture, and one of the few distinctive things we have.

Can't help but wonder on the irony that isn't listed, whereas the nondescript brick building *is*!

Ohhh.. I hope the Elephant isn't demolished, a damn sight better than the stupidly grade II listed market, which is of no architectural interest whatever to my mind (apart from a bit of artwork inside).

I'm all for the new venture. Going to be more like a water world hopefully rather than a tatty old Olympic sized pool.

I love the elephant, but that's the only thing I do love about it. Like I say in an ideal world we'd be replacing it with something equally as fascinating, or even refurbishing it, but I know that's unlikely.

Well apparently not. Half the size of the main pool will give more room for slides and a bigger spash pool.

Took my daughter to Water World in Staffordshire last year and she had a fantastic time with the waves and chutes etc. Think it's the way to go.

Apparently solicitors representing ACL have been instructed to grant a license to CCFC for 1 year to allow them to play at the Ricoh with a 3 year extension to follow. More to follow as and when.

For leisure yup, I think the lottery fund, EU, government, local MPs & people who have an interest in water sports need to get their acts together and try to get a new 50M pool built in the Midlands.

(personally, I'm not interested in the least).

Reckon we should give Cov Uni sole rights for designing the new buildings coming into our city ,they seem to be able to overcome all obstacles and have Introduced some superb modern architecture Into the centre.

We need to be rid of all this " Corbusier" inspired Crap .
