Not off topic at all, Samo. This isn't just about pubs. (Although some of our posters can only remember pubs! Mentioning no names!) The only thing I have relating to Barnby's is this advert:

Do You remember the first Fishy Moore's before it moved?.. It was down that little side street with the old second hand shop.. Think it was called Exchange & Mart..

I mentioned Gibberds as I had a Saturday job there after leaving Caludon Castle.I only lasted a few weeks as my dad who was a builder got me a labourers job on a site instead.I hated it in the shop when my mates came in hoping for freebies but the manager would watch eagle eyed at me.
They also sold school uniforms but a bit more upmarket than Benley's !

I'm loving all these pictures and I wish my parents were still around to see them as they would have loved them too.
They were keen picture goers as all were in the sixties.The Paris picture house,the Forum and the Gaumont were the main ones.Long queues were the norm back then,I reckon my dad fancied himself as a bit of a cowboy as he would stick his fag in the corner of his mouth.Bloody embarrassing though him riding through town on his horse !

I recall in the seventies my parents were in Fishy Moores having their fish and chips when there was a pitched battle going on outside and all up Fairfax street between us lot and Forest. They got locked in until it had subsided but they were more irate at seeing their son throwing punches at a Forest fan through the chippy window ! Crazy times !

remember Millwall? They shit themselves that day. watching cockneys cry and begging to be left alone. few of the cov rogues robbed them of money etc.. Grimsby was good in the cup too. flares and fireworks were funny. good times

Houch I lived in Walsgrave as a lad when it was a village.Maybe pushing it a bit but have you pictures of the village etc ?

Me n my mate got nicked in Davis's for stealing snooker chalk when I was real young. And my other 2 mates walked all the way back home to windmill rd because they thought the police would be on the bus .
Shit, that brings back memories . I was sposed to go to alten towers the next week but my mom grounded me, I was gutted .

The only "New Inn" I have a photo of is the one in Bulls Head Lane. Was there another name previously (or afterwards), or have you got the name wrong?
quite possibly , everything has faded into the distance with regards to my old coventry days. the pub used to be on the corner of windmill rd, by the new inn bridge(cov canal) but its a bunch of houses or flats now
Was It known as the Fiesta more recently?

The Rocket near the railway station, not a favourite or oft frequented pub of mine, nor is the piccy very old, but I post it as it will be pulled down in the next few years as the Friargate development proceeds..

Great pics of Walsgrave and the one of the lads by the monument hasn't changed much as that's School house Lane leading up to the school I went to which is also the road up to the hospital. The Craven Arms photo is recent but it's still there which is a great as many have gone. cheers.
