yes I did see somewhere but I think I must of mis read and massively hoping we get a cm as I really think we need one especially one with some goals and a bit of height and muscle.

Yea, someone in another thread claimed Fisher told them we were after a centre midfielder at the Sheffield match.

The 27-year old joins the Sky Blues following the end of a six-month deal with Championship side Millwall...
Coventry City have completed the signing of striker Simeon Jackson on a one-year deal, subject to Football League and FA approval.

The 27-year Canadian international joins the Sky Blues following the end of a six-month deal with Championship side Millwall.

Jackson began his professional career at Rushden and Diamonds where he maintained a ratio of nearly a goal every other game, scoring 43 goals in just over 100 appearances.

The Jamaican-born striker's form sealed him a move to then League Two side Gillingham where he maintained his goal ratio, scoring 42 goals over 114 appearances for the Gills over nearly three years including the 90th minute play-off final winner which saw Gillingham return to League One in 2008/09.

Jackson's habit for scoring important goals continued when he signed a two-year deal to join Championship side Norwich City in 2010.

He netted 13 times that season including the winning goal in the penultimate game of the campaign away at Portsmouth which secured the Canaries' promotion to the Premier League where he made 35 apperances and scored eight goals over the next two seasons.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley said he was delighted to further strengthen his forward line with a player of top flight pedigree.

"Simeon is a player that has played at the highest level, scored at the highest level and has a track record of being an individual that team mates can depend on when the time comes. All of those attributes are the kind I want in my players," he said.

"He's got a great attitude, he's hungry, he's a very good age and he knows what promotion requires whether that be into League One or the Premier League and his experience will be a huge benefit to the younger players in the dressing room.

"His goal-scoring record throughout the leagues also speaks for itself and I'm looking forward to his arrival taking the competition for places among the strikers up another gear."

Considering we don't seem to have a pot to p*ss in, are playing 34 miles from home, have attendances only slightly better than National Streaking Championships and have a largely divided fan base, I have to see, SP and SW do manage to bring in some players of decent pedigree...

Just a shame that he's 2-3 weeks away from playing. It's like getting a decent present on Xmas day and your old dear telling you that you can't play with it until 12th Jan.

Decent front two on paper. Lot happier with the side now (assuming he gets fit and finds old form of course).

Still need a CB and a DM to make it through the season though.

If we get another striker I'd send McQuiod back. Though I'd be happy to leave the 4th slot for Maddison/Thomas.

A top top bit of business, once he catches up with the fitness levels, he will score for fun in our system... pace galore too which will give us a good outlet.

Nice one. Just waiting for the first moan about it now.

Why didn't we sign him 2 weeks ago so we could get him fit?

Also I don't like his fist name he should change it to Simon.

Also when I heard we were signing a striker with an amazing scoring record for Gillingham, there was only ever going to be one name in my book.

A major issue here is that we aren't back at the ricoh yet and no one will sign for us while we are at northampton and we're going down and sisu haven't even made an attempt to stop the israel-palestine conflict. Worrying times.

Danny Webber and Sam Parkin would be great signings though...
