Carl Baker has only scored ten league goals in one season at league one or above......why let facts get in the way of a comment he's good for ten league goals a seasomn though.

Last season he got 7 goals in 43 league appearance as I said can see four or five players bettering that if they play as many games.

So last season, where the general consensus is he was well below his best in the second half of the season, he got 7 goals and 7 assists. Can you see any of our current midfield doing as well or better than that?

He's not a world beater, if he was he wouldn't be playing in L1, but is he worse than what we have on the pitch, or even in the squad, now?

I'm guessing this is about 'salary scales' as much as anything else. Carl Baker has a radically different contract to everyone else currently at the club because he has a decent Championship level contact & pretty much everyone else is on a league one contact if that (Tudgay, Johnson and Jackson are now probably the highest earners).

Why do we, or anyone else for that matter, not put clauses in contracts relating to what division we are in. Something like in the championship you get paid x amount, in L1 y amount. Add in decent bonus for promotion so a player has some incentive for staying and trying to get us back up. You would probably need to give the player a release clause in the event of relegation but seeing as we need to offload Championship players to meet the L1 budget that shouldn't be problem.

Without doubt, Baker is being bombed out by SISU and not SP. It's nothing to do with his ability, it's all about the money.

There is zero evidence to suggest that.

Thing is whether he is in the team or not you have to pay him so paying your highest earner so sit on his own in a bomb squad is ludicrous.

As for him not fitting in within the new formation, from what I have read on here nor do any of our players????

Isn't he also in the Bomb squad??

I don't know, he hasn't been fit has he? When he is fully fit and nowhere near the squad then surely it's a better time to judge it?

Not saying that a player isn't playing because of his wages when he is actually injured.

An average ageing player on an above average wage.

May be average but a better proposition than half the shit on display yesterday .

He can still be very useful to us in this league .

Yea, people don't seem to grasp that. Pressley has already said if he stays he will get a squad number and be part of the squad, the only reason he didn't get a number is that he was set to move the day the squad numbers were announce but then the move collapsed.

How dare you argue with Grendel after all he knows more then anyone else.

Like I said in an earlier funny how posters like him are the first to come on here slagging off Players, Managers and even the Fans of Coventry City?

I am not slagging off anyone - I am agreeing with other posters on here regarding Baker.

Bell wasn't injured his whole career. He also wasn't about to move when squads were being decided.

You are a typical old fashioned supporter who has a opinion on a player then always try and find fault in all they do.

So he is on more money then the rest isn't it that the rest are not paid enough?

Where did I say the reason he didn't get a squad number was because he was injured?

He didn't get a squad number because he was set to leave the day they were submitted, if he doesn't leave he will be part of the squad. If he makes the match day squad he will get a number.

I would say the opposite is true. An old fashioned supporter is someone who puts effort or perceived effort before skill.

The man who shouts and shows passion is always preferred to the one with skill and ability.

Stern John was derided by many fans but was a far far better player than baker.

Stern didn't have a sky blue tatoo though or a sky blue wedding. He didn't bleed sky blue.

So to the masses he was inferior.

Same to an extent for David bell whose stats in the championship compare favourably to baker.

It was interesting that these fans also described him as 'lazy' alongside others such as Jay Bothrody, Dele Adebola, Leon Best, Julian Gray etc

Also Leon best. Yet if Leon had had a Facebook page....

@ CCFC.....Baker was told by SP he was no longer required weeks before squad numbers were to be announced, the captaincy being the first stage of railroading him out the door.........excerpt from CT 30/07/14.........The long-serving midfielder was believed to be in talks with a League One side Barnsley "AFTER" becoming surplus to requirements with the Sky Blues.

Hopefully he can be moved on asap and his minions can follow him to his next club. Meanwhile, we will be able to bring in someone better and on less money.

Erm ... No!

Baker is paid too much. It is what it is. Should he be in our first team? Yes. Should we keep him? yes!

Yes, thank you for telling me what I already know. Very helpful.

I'd be happy with that if we did bring someone in who is better. Can't see that happening though.

Jackson may play in a similar position and should be a lot better.

I suspect baker will stay as is his right and get a few games . He wouldn't fit in this formation anyway and I suspect Pressley wants him gone.

@ CCFC....What you say "You already know" isn't what you said...."He didn't get a squad number because he was set to leave the day they were submitted,".............Is totally different to what actually happened..........The long-serving midfielder was believed to be in talks with a League One side Barnsley "AFTER" becoming surplus to requirements with the Sky Blues. The bit that I've highlighted...."AFTER" That says to me he was bombed out before going into talks with Barnsley, which would have taken a good few days to set up. So to say "He didn't get a squad number because he was set to leave the day they were submitted," is utter bollocks.

There can be a fairly large distinction between being surplus to requirements and being actively kept away from the team. Until Baker is fit to play nobody can say for sure which side he falls on.
