They were prepared to stay at sixfields for 3 years originally so whats a bit of a cut in the ticketing prices going to do to them? It's still significantly more than they would have earned in Northampton.

They need to get decent PR, they need to fix their IT / Ticketing Systems / They need to do a lot more for local kids / schools / they need to do something for the ball boys / girls who lost out. They need to hype up every game. Yes they need to do special offers to get bums on seats for some games, they need to get people hooked. Do deals on replica shirts with match tickets, try and lock people in to buying multiple tickets. Instead of £15 for one ticket, make it £30 for two so they have to come back!

Finally a post I agree with you on Nick. Give fans reasons to turn up. Do 2 match deals like they should of done with gillingham and yeovil. The club had a golden opportunity to sell out the first 2 homes game back easily and they missed out.

Scrap the walk up charge as again this gives fans a reason not to go. Don't see the point in it. Premier league football sure but league 1 not really.

I am personally looking forward to these 5-6 match packages and what value they offer. At 24 on the day is not value to watch yeovil town. Some of is pay it just because we are ccfc fans. I paid £22 for my ticket yesterday so save that charge but that's because I could. Others genuinely don't know til the day. I don't consider 22 value for money for my ticket but I've paid it because I love ccfc and want to watch them. Even if the game is a 4-3 thriller it's still not value for money because you judge it before the event. You go into the match not knowing the score so if it's 0-0 shit game it's the same.

I am one of us older ones that shouldn't be in debt. Got cheaper house prices. Credit wasn't as easy years ago. I retire in 13 years. This also isn't a boast. I am one of the lucky generation. I said nearly IIRC. OK I should have checked their attendances and if they paid the £2 extra on the day and worked it out to the £ just for you. So it would be about 80k.

We just need to tempt some people back. The ones to aim at would be those that missed all games last year and found new things to do as well as new customers. And maybe not even all season for reduced prices. Or aim the lower prices at games like midweek against lower clubs.

Looking around a few websites at clubs in our League, the City matchday prices are in line with many others. That is what they will have been set against, truth is though most of these clubs have plenty of empty seats every home match { nowhere near as many as the Ricoh though}. Conclusion: football is overpriced not just in Coventry but all round the country where lower league clubs are relying on the loyalty of a core number of fans who are prepared to pay whatever they are asked and that people in general are finding plenty of other things to do with their Saturdays.

No, he's not saying that at all. The club have been quite clear (even last season) that the Sixfields tickets were cheaper to compensate and subsidise the extra 70 mile round trip. Sixfields prices weren't 'normal' prices.

Offering finance on season tickets would be a good start and I seem to recall SW saying something about looking into that. Don’t external companies usually handle the finance? Alternatively, there are loads of interest free credit cards, though admittedly people might not want to do it that way – I wouldn’t. The pro-rata season ticket thing is good and as the season goes on people might find that more affordable. Continuing on the free STs for under 12 JSBs is also a good thing, though they don’t tell you have to pay £25 for a membership. Match packages would also be easy for them to sort, surely? 3/5 match packages for £45 or £60 or something would help.

This has been an interesting thread, which has provoked a good debate - I’m not gonna say arguments. I can see both sides really. The club needs to peg their prices to attract those who aren’t our usual “hardcore” following. However, they need to balance that with making an income and being able to afford to play back at the Ricoh, though I’m not going to start on that whole debate again.

A few have made digs at the Sixfields attendees with getting their ST cheaper, which, of course, is true. Can’t be arsed to work it out (I’m sure some kind soul will do a comparison) but I paid £195 for the two of us (including the £25 JSB membership) for the season and we’re now back in the Standard Zone, block 29. My Dad had to pay full whack for his seat next to us. However, STs were sold at the 2012 price.

Agreed, but it's only over priced because of the costs of running said football club, which includes players getting paid far too much.

I don't disagree. But we now have supporters that wouldn't have missed any games a few seasons ago that are now not going. It wouldn't take much to get many of them back. The problem is getting them through the door for the first couple of times. They need to be reminded on what they are missing. It isn't just the game. It is the build up. The banter. The celebrations after. Get them used to coming back and many will return. We had a missed opportunity last game as our stadium wasn't big enough That game would have brought some back. People are misguided for having a go at anyone for paying Northampton prices and getting a Ricoh ticket. It doesn't matter if they agree or not with going to Northampton. If you bought a season ticket you have a ticket for the season. End of. It is about time that we kept the politics out of this and tried to do what is best for our club. What we need is bums on seats and not trying to argue about anything we can. Forget about all sides involved for once.

In truth I suspect they'd make more at the Ricoh with 10,000 at Sixfields prices, than with 2,000 at Sixfields with Sixfields prices - but it's moot, and like you I don't want to reignite all of those old arguments.

Personally, I'd like them to shift on price a bit, but regardless at least now I've got the option of going or not. That, at least, makes me very happy.

Three generations sat next to each other Torchy - excellent. Your dad can tell you how much better it was in his day, and you can tell your lad how much better it was in yours. Only one person loses, and he's not paying for his ticket anyway.

I can see the argument for not being the same price as Sixfields (better facilities at Ricoh etc) but I agree Torch they should have made a proper gesture to the fans for this season. They have put all the fans through football hell, really not convinced those running the club fully understand the damage done. Right now is a feel good period but it is fragile

But I think we would all agree that ticket price is but one issue, it will affect some people not others in their assessment of whether to go or not. Still comes down to results having the biggest impact on crowd attendance probably followed by who we are playing and then ticket price imo.
