Just to pick up on a couple of things.

Consumer credit licence - that would affect the issue of season tickets on credit. I am surprised the club doesn't have one.

F&B in concourse - reading between the lines this would appear to be a source of match day income that doesn't go direct to the club but the club get a commission on it. It has been mentioned the club gets something like 15% on the sales but there are no firm details released. But a spend of £2 per head seems a little low to me despite the high prices.

Doing the maths at the Gillingham game for instance the max take for the club on that basis would have been

27600 people x £2 per head - the VAT (1/6) x 15% = 6900 ....... the effect on SCMP budget would be 6900 x 60% = £4140

an average crowd of 15k for the season would bring in £86250 and add £51750 to the SCMP budget

The encouragement to use the concourse whilst the right thing to do is not going to affect things that much is it? After all that was said about importance of F&B it doesn't seem to be big figures - why was it a potential deal breaker?

car parking income - this seems not to be the clubs at all. Under the old lease they had 900 spaces which if all fully sold each match brought an annual income of 172500 net of VAT (ignore the cost of the old lease etc - the point being made is that to get a low day rent the club has rented less space ie the car park and gets less income and that depresses the SCMP calculation -at least that's what it looks like)




Just a thought but cant help thinking that the new 2 year deal focusses more on cost savings not maximising income for CCFC ie the rent & costs have been driven down but turnover sacrificed to do that. However in the scheme of things the following major incomes go direct to the club (as they always have) and are enhanced by a return to the Ricoh

- ticket money (including hospitality packages)
- TV monies
- Prize monies
- kit,match and team sponsorship
- commercial & shop sales
- player trading

I think the update is given by whoever attends the stadium forum on behalf of the SCG. Ms Garlick is not an SCG member as such but has attended past meetings I think

TF: The appeal was always going to go ahead regardless of the outcome of the Judicial Review and the appeal was not an issue.

I am not surprised that the club cannot get a Consumer Credit licence. In fact I stated in a post a few weeks ago that I thought this would be the case when some people were asking if they could buy season tickets by instalments. The club used to have one which I believe was in the name of the company that went into administration and was dissolved. The company also had a poor record when it came to filing reports and accounts. These are almost certainly the issues which now prevent them obtaining a licence. This means they cannot offer credit on season tickets, even if the actual credit is through a third party as you need the licence even to act as credit brokers.

Fair point. Just checked the current and previous register. CCFCH held a consumer credit licence (only group company that did)but it lapsed 19/05/2010. It seems the lack of consumer credit licence is not something new and that it had not been updated.

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere before, but why can't ACL agree to sell off bit parts of the Arena to Sisu? Okay, fine, we know they are saying the stadium isn't for sale, but there at the site is the hotel, casino, conference facilities, exhibition halls, a theatre etc.

Could it not be feasible to sell some small part of the facilities to Sisu? The owners are always talking about only having access to revenues for part of the year. If there had exhibition halls or suchlike they could try and generate monies all year round through events etc. ACL would still have the Arena in their posession and surely the whole facility is large enough to split down into some smaller units.

Or is that simply not a feasible option at all?

Yep, it's a really good idea.

Another option may be the casino. If Sisu had a share in that or took ownership, then for match days they could make a much more Sky Blues themed day of it and get more supporters in that way, by maybe showing videos of previous games or beaming Academy games to there and getting meets and greets with City legends etc.

Would think there are plenty of things they could come up with and if it felt like it belonged to Coventry City FC, with Sky Blue stuff going on, maybe a lot more of us would go in. It would be more like a supporters club.

Yes agree. But like you say, if CCFC had access to an exhibition hall etc. they could do many of the things I have listed above in terms of turning it into a Sky Blue supporter zone.

At the meetings they are always seeking new members, they wish to build up a relationship between the fans and the club so am sure anyone who has a question to ask would be able to attend if they wished.

The disappointing thing is instead of thinking around the problem in a positive way they keep coming back to demanding rhetoric about ownership. They could do the stuff we are discussing now, in fact have always had the facility to do it, but choose to take a blinkered approach about ownership. It would have brought them closer to the fans let alone made them money. It might even help them work to some element of ownership. As they say it ain't rocket science

They had a Direct Debit scheme last year actually - I paid for my season ticket through that - run through a finance company called Zebra as I mention. Not sure what has changed since last year?

They used to use Zebra years ago. Definitely bought my CCFC ST that way in previous seasons.

If Otium can't get a consumer credit licence then borrowing £10m-£15m to part fund the new stadium build might be a bit tricky. What's the most you can borrow from Wonga these days?

They might also find the builders a bit reluctant to accept IOUs.

If they used My idea of tiered subscription pricing and either used electronic cards or sent tickets out in small batches, if someone cancels their subscription you cancel their ticket. Or work it like a gym where you have a 12 month contract.

Hire out the jag hall on matchday.

Set up a few food stalls and a run a mini beer festival 12-7 every home game. Big projector showing the early kick off, face painting for the kids, even a concession stand to sell merchandise.
