Ben Turner off to Brum (1 Viewer)

Jon Parkin, the 6ft 3inch tall power house is deemed surplus to requirement at the Cardiff City Stadium because he doesn’t fit in with the neat footballing side Mackay is trying to build, and a move to the Ricoh Arena would certainly raise a few eyebrows given that he doesn’t exactly match the attractive style of football played under Andy Thorn.

This is exactly the reason why I wouldn't want Parkin.

if he goes to brum lets hope we get a player in exchange. i dont understand how a club would be interested in buying a player that is injured, and has been for 9 or 10 months! how is he going to pass a medical. if this was us buying him we would all be on here saying wtf are we doing buying a fking crock? we would. it doesnt make sence. you dont think angel Ben and the club have been keeping him off the field to keep him clean for a sale do you???

He'll go and good luck to him, we are and always will be a selling club. We need a player to score our goals if we are to stay in this league. I think we need to trawl all over Ireland and Scotland for hidden gems at low prices and wages. Every average player we go after is on better wages than we can afford.

Sorry, why do you keep saying Cody McDonald?! Wasn't good enough for Norwich last season, not even close.

He didn't play for Norwich last season, he was busy playing on loan for Gillingham scoring 25 goals - or is that your point? By that logic anyone who's ever been sent on loan by their club "isn't good enough". Beckham went to Preston on loan - what a crap player, etc.

He's better than Le Fondre who scores half his goals from the penalty spot.

Cash to fund the operating losses, that is all. As soon as the Hoffman bid collapsed, the board announced that Sisu will continue to 'fund' the club until the end of the season. The sale of big Ben will fund us for two or three months.....until, remarkably, the next transfer window......

They are not funding the club, they just find ways of raising money from within the club. Once the cupboard is bare, and there is nothing to mortgage, then what?

If they want to find investors, that will be even more difficult now- given their unprofessional conduct in breaking confidentiality agreements.....who would do business with them?
The board had already announced SISU would continue funding for this season months ago.

Anyway on Ben Turner, I feel we can do ok without him in the short term the only thing I am annoyed about is in a 1/2 years he could be a 3-4 million pound player. If we needed to sell to buy I would much rather offload other players than a player that could have had a long successful future at Coventry City.

Calm down! I'm just saying, at his age, if he was going to make it at this level he'd have done it by now. Just my opinion.

At the same age Didier Drogba signed for Guingamp in France for £80,000.

Different players blossom at different times and looking at that video of last season his time has come. If we got him and a decent midfielder i'd start to have a little hope that we can stay up.

Pretty much the same age as Le fondre who people were christening as the saviour to our season (not saying you did).

Also Ricky Lambert is playing for the first time ever at the age of 29 in the championship.

Age is deceiving if your good enough you deserve to play whether you are a teenager or a veteran.

True, but that's one example I'm afraid. I just don't think he'd do anything here. Obviously that's just an opinion. I also think this debate is pointless as I'm pretty sure nobody will be coming in!!

And there it is. He comes in and he's in a lose lose situation. You plus lots of other supporters pin your hopes on him keeping us up. For a player that hasn't done anything at this level he'd be screwed. Van Nistelrooy blossomed late too, but how many players actually do that though? Not many, especially not now.

Well if Turner goes we wont see much of that £1M (i was hoping for more) and we wont see much of Scotty Dann's fee either, apparently now off to QPR (bad move for him in my opinion). At best we will get one player hopefully a stirker on an undisclosed fee which will be about £200k but they will say £1M.

Ben Turner is the best centre half in the championship when fit so £1 million is a fucking scandal!

sisu are a bunch of lying thieving scumbags and they need to fuck off.

i soooo wish we had took admin 3 1/2 years ago, we might have got relegated to lge 1 in the process but i bet we would be in a far better position by now.

It seems clear that we have to sell to have the money to keep going (or to "allow SISU to continue to fund us" as it is sometimes called).

It's also clear that we have a surplus of centre backs.

My concern is that Ben looked a class act last season. I see some folk above described him as "a clogger". I thought he looked a commanding centre half who was also a major threat when we had corners etc. He has however been injured for 9 months. Does that make his current value higher or lower than when he's playing in the team? If you think the answer may be "lower", the next question is, why sell this particular player when his value is reduced?

The next question is do the Board have any plan except "get some cash in however we can and don't worry beyond the next couple of months cash flow"?

Answers on a postcard.........

Have SISU updated the position in terms of funding, I was under the impression that they had said they will continue to fund the club until the end of the season at which point they will review the position again i would guess.

I would "hope" any fee we get in for the sale of Turner would go back into the team(I can hope can't I) If we're going to loss somebody I don't think we'll miss him, its been nearly 12 months since he last played, and whilst he had 10 or 15 really good games he was woeful the season before.

Definitely - we need to maximise any fee we get for our players. If we have to sell him let's get him fit and finding form then sell him in January. I do feel that £750-850k is too low for a player who was rated in the top 5 in the league before his injury when you consider he has 3 years left ob his contract.

another potential 'fire sale' (hope it doesn't happen, for both ben & ccfc's sake) but further would go to prove that all our current owners want is as much as they can get on what was caused by removing footballing insight within the club, short term mis-management again from u know who !!!!!!!!!!!

He's a reasonable Championship defender when fit(Which isn't often), If we got £1million for him I'd bite their hands off.
