COV fans a good source has told me and @talkSPORT that the Wasps Rugby Club move to the Ricoh, does involve CCFC staying and playing at RICOH

Whatever, don't care no more personally.

You don't need a good source for this - CCFC have a contract to play at the Ricoh for the next two years at least.

What happens after that though, that's down to the owners of the club and whoever controls ACL. No guarantees at all as to whether either of those parties might decide it would be better for CCFC to be elsewhere. Certainly the owners don't want to seem to stay as tenants...

I care about Coventry City, not the politics that comes with it for the past 5/6 years.

So with all due respect... do one.
Oh right, where in the OP does it state that it's only the politics you don't care about. Personally I couldn't give a shit whether you care or not. It's just tiring to read it. If you don't care then politely fuck off quietly.

i think its more about what does the future look like over these next four years and beyond that which is the biggest question.

Surely if it just meant the 4 years, then the wording would be 'honouring' the agreement for Coventry City to play there.

Staying at the Ricoh to me points to a long term agreement.

That would be a long term agreement without the agreement of the current owners then, I guess. Because unless SISU have suddenly changed their tune they've always said that they're not going to stay as just tenants.

It might suit Wasps and CCC for the club to stay, but whether it suits SISU is perhaps another matter, no?

Just how long have they been saying they have identified land or will be able to announce very shortly the details of the new stadium?

Why do you think they haven't? Because there is no new stadium. If there is now to be one because they feel they have got no other choice, I cannot see it being built in anything like the 4 years we will still be at the Ricoh for.

Maybe, but as I said in a thread yesterday before the Wasps thing getting land was probably going to be a big issue due to objections from CCC. If CCC have now basically parachuted in a franchise team then it wouldn't reflect well on them if they turned down an application within the city boundaries. Now, I'm saying such a site exists, but the Wasps deal may have moved the goalposts somewhat.

Well, that's my concern. Where does such a site exist?

I'm sure Tim mentioned about Courtaulds being the only site in Coventry big enough? Or did I imagine that. Not that they could do anything there now, as haven't they started building?

Yep. Already stuff built now.

I can't think of anywhere else, apart from Ansty Park. That's still in Coventry isn't it?

On the edge, just over the border.

That and Warwick Uni about the only rational places I can think of.

Still... Kenilworth's nice this time of year:thinking about:

Ooh, you'd have the leather elbowed patch brigade down on us like a tonne of bricks!

Does they just mean just for 2-4 years which was never in doubt.

Theres no way SISU will agree to continuing to play at the Ricoh beyond 2-4 years with wasps owning it and taking all the revenues.

But none of us believe they will build a new stadium, so it either means having to stay at the Ricoh or relinquishing ownership doesn't it?

Or back to Sixfields.

Knock the council house and council chambers down, f*ck it and all the other shitty civic buildings where the Council seem to waste half the city's budget on 'blue sky thinking' and other corporate bull shit, and build a new stadium right on top of where Ann 'Super Sky Blue Fans' Office used to be.

Easy to reach from the station and on most bus routes, and plenty of car parks. Winner all round.

Reading that latest Telegraph report, Wasps and their officials really do want to franchise their Rugby team into Coventry. They have been investigating the possibility of local reaction and support......................Well I can tell you for one Mr Breed, stick it up your arse ! You seem to completely ignore the fact that we have our own rugby team in the City and on the up !
If the council agree to this bullshit then it will be appalling and a very dark day for Coventry. Coventry City would become marginalised and further disenfranchised from their unique identity within their own City. I wonder how much of this has been common knowledge to certain parties for a long time ?

Absolutely Otis - but if this takeover of ACL goes ahead and SISU's option of buying into ACL is gone forever, then moving to a new, crappier ground might well be the only game in town.

At that point it's down to SISU whether we stay at the Ricoh whilst the new ground is built. And even if there wasn't a realistic build plan, if the Wasps/ACL thing is looking marginal at that point, then it might well suit SISU to put them under pressure by upping sticks again and just pretending to have one.

Does anywhere here really think that the FL would stop SISU decamping to (say) Northampton, if that situation arose again?

Wasps dropped the 'London' prefix to their team name only on 30th June 2014.....................How convenient !?

Nope. They would turn a blind eye again.

God knows what the answer is! If our owners won't bid and are determined to leave then I feel we will further decline.

If we stay at the Ricoh on a rent deal there may well be no chance of any sustained future success and we'll just drift along.

We need new owners. Think we all agree on that, but Sisu are just not going to go away are they!

Although tbf they only added it when they wanted to brand themselves thus, before bogging out of the city in the first place!

If the wasps deal goes through there will be a nice 4k stadium available in Spon End which could be upgraded to the 12k - 15k highfield road 2 idea
