Genuinely gutted with this, Robins was building something good here (obviously he moved of his own volition, who wouldn't of tbh). We have to endure the next few months of Pressley, before inevitably searching for a new man, wish it was Robins. Got a sick feeling it will be Paul Ince.

Good move for Scunthorpe, i like Pressley and not going to openly bemoan him but i agree Robins could have built something here, shame he saw the sights of Huddersfield and jumped ship

Robins was good but he left. If he came back, would he just leave at the first chance of a better opportunity?
SP has been linked with higher profile jobs but remained loyal. He has at least acknowledge that he has a long term plan /vision here. He is still learning as a manager, gives youngsters a chance and is working within strict constraints.

Many on here slated Finch's debut and slated Pressley for stating how well he played. Finch's subsequent appearances have shown more promise. Like all good managers Pressley does seem to know when to shield players and when to speak more honestly and openly.

He may not be the finished article and we will have to see how he progresses. But at least he seems genuine about wanting to be here.

Difference being Pressley has yet to be offered another job. Loyalty in football is a myth, in the right circumstances perhaps it exists (Steven Gerrard and Liverpool for example). But 99% on here would have made the same decision Robins did, that isn't something to hold against him, it's just the way football works.

Another myth about our resources. Yes we don't spend money on players, but what we have atm is a squad good enough to get promoted. It is ultimately Pressley's fault if we fail to do this.

You're wrong there, he started at Huddersfield a couple of months agao according to Coventry Telegraoh reliable sources.

It's probably the job sharing that's killing him to be honest.

I am not one of the knives out for Robins brigade and hold nothing against him. His short tenure here was better than most. Judging by the foot of your post though, you seem to have the knives out for Pressley and Thomas.

Don't have 'knives' out as such. I've watched Conor Thomas 'progress' as a footballer since 2011 and for me he is an awful awful player, won't say more than that as Otis will be all over this like a tramp on chips. As for Pressley, he has no obvious philosophy and his tactics change with the wind. It's glaringly obvious the system isn't working and he's blindly sticking with it. So rather than having 'knives' out, I'm just giving my view on those two individuals. I'll praise people when they deserve and I'll slate them when they deserve it, I have no pre-conceived ideals.

Aha. He's changed from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2 to 5-3-2 to 4-4-2 to 5-3-2 since he's been here. What irks me is that there is no vision or philosophy that he has, this has led to him moving to a 5-3-2 mainly because of the LVG affect. What I'm saying is have a philosophy, pick bits up from here and there but be your own man.

how well do you think carl baker and frank moussa would do in this system , granted clarke is not christie regardless and do you think that wilson and moussa would have flourished as much in our current system , we will never know but its just something to think about .
obrien and swanson are wide men , danny pugh is a more established left back than adams , johnson is better than seabourne and alsop is far worse than murphy ,tudgay appears a waste of space , whilst mcqoid looks like he could do more with the right service , jackson looks average at best but again the service side of things isnt in the favour of the strikers this season , nouble looks a real handful and could see him hitting 15 goals plus in a season

Maybe we wouldn't use this system with those players. Maybe he thinks our best chance with the inferior players we have this season is to play this way.

i think regardless of the players we had in , he was always going to try stop leaking goals , obrien looks better than baker in my opinion .. but i want to see him in his natural position , something that baker had the luxury of during his 4 years here

Missed a glorious chance in front of goal against Crawley, also lacked pace when put clean through. Even good strikers miss chances though, some even go a few games without scoring.

i could say that johnson , pugh and obrien would have made last seasons starting 11 . and after clarke went nouble would have been a nice partner for wilson upfront , even mcqoid would have been better than the garbage we bought in on loan for the seasons remaining fixtures
