Ben Turner (4 Viewers)

Hi All, Cardiff fan here.
What type of player is Ben Turner ? Has he got any pace ? At 6 ft 4 he will surely be good in the air but we already got that with Hudson and Gerrard. Is Turner a good signing for 750k plus the beast ?
We haven't really seen a lot of Big Jon Parkin. Seems to have a very poor 1st touch and seems to get picked on by referees for to much pushing and shoving.
Maybe given a good run in your team he may come good, Preston fans rated him highly, but Cardiffs side this year is all about work ethic and Big Jon certainly is not fit enough to fall into that bracket. Cardiff currently have a very young frenchman whose same height as Parkin but is fit and tries hard. Ruddy Gestede, so there really is no future for Parkin at Cardiff.
Rumours our end are saying you are willing to pay Parkin 5k a week and we pay the extra 4k.
Again its silly season so still a lot may happen
Good luck with the rest of your season, after reading on here for a while its going to be a long hard season for you with Sisu robbing your club, we had something similar with Peter Ridsdale and i really do pitty your fans

Ben Turner has been injured for the last 10 months but before that he was arguably the best CB in the championship albeit only for a short spell of 15 games or so.
You can keep Parkin we don't need the useless lump and certainly don't want to be paying him 5k p/w. I still think Turner will be off to Birmingham if Dann is sold before the window closes.

I agree Ben was by far the the best CB in the league till he got injured, but you keep Porky Parkin, we just don't have enough pies in the Ricoh to keep him full

Poor first touch, not fit enough and not a good work ethic.

He will fit in just fine!!

No, i think it means Cardiff will have to pay him the difference. 200k roughly, whether that be in 1 sum or more than likely weekly

Probably loan with view to a permanent which will never materialise and we will hand him back at end of season. Is he really the best we can do? I know the answer is yes but it still breaks my heart as does the fact that we cannot compete with Peterborough for Cody McDonald. Just got to hope that Leigh RMI want to sign Parkin and outbid us.

Jan ,i don't think we can rely on Leigh RMI outbidding us as they have gone into liduidation and no longer exsist.That means we are up shit street then, and i agree with you if Parkin is the best we can do then we really are in trouble.

Ben Turner was class last season. I think you're signing someone with a lot of potential. Scored 4 in 14 in the league last season too, so a threat going forward. Quite fast I have to say and have a biiig sliding tackle. Though in our current position not an awful deal for us, we have a lot of centre backs and 1 decent striker so if parkin knows where the goal is, I think we have to take him.

Very good defender in this league and will most likely go on to become a prem defender in the next few yrs. Last season prior to his injury he was outstanding,but before this when Dowie first brought him into the team a few yrs back, he was very suspect, but Dowie, and the managers who later followed him, obviously seen something in, which became more apparent in his more recent performances.

You'll def get a bargain if £750k is the figure!

I noticed a former Leigh Genesis player scored for North Leigh at the weekend (really, I did!). They're in the division Leigh Genesis were in last year-is it a "Phoenix" club, or just a local rival? 'Cos if it's a "Phoenix" club, maybe we can just change our name and everything will be ok :p

Turner is deceptively quick in my opinion, considering his size especially.

Academy graduate, was a bit shaky when he came in at 18/19 and caught some flack from the fans, Iain Dowie had faith in him, make of that what you will, plus he was along side Arjan De Zeeuw <sp?> who was utter garbage which wouldn't have helped.

Came into the side with a vengeance last season, was one of our top scorers after about 15 games with 4 goals and had suddenly become a commanding left sided center back (he's left footed). Good in the air, a goal threat at corners, strong in the tackle, decent but not great positional sense (but he's only young). Get him for less than £3m and it's a bargain, assuming he come back to his best after a long injury of course...

Will always remember him for THAT clearance against Leeds.

Scored as well that day. Had a stormer.

Also the day he did his knee. I'm so angry with Boothroyd for keeping him on the field for the rest of the game. It could yet be a career-ending decision.

So sorry Jan ,i did'nt concetrate on what you said,and yes you're right when you said we are heading for the same outcome

Nonleagueherewecome, North Leigh are not a phoenix club but play in the Hellenic league Premier,which covers Oxfordshireand Gloucestershire and many counties around that area, and if they had a player of the same name then its just coincidental.Yes i agree with you that if we go down the route of a phoenix club then we just put AFC infront of the name, or just put Cov somewhere in the new clubs name.
Really sad times for the club at the moment.
My bed now beckons so good night to all the skyblue army stillon here, and tomorrow will be a very interesting day, and could decide our future

hope & pray he's not sold but we the fans are not considered, pure greed ensues as SISU decree to get some 'dosh' back from their punt, Ben is a product of CCFC, and we (CCFC) have seen what a good player he is.
On the sad side of things, it is a shame that our mercenary owners are not wise enough to realise that given another year he would, at least, double, maybe triple, his value;
However SISU edict;
