So what do you think the future holds for CCFC......


Do we get bought out by the wasps consortium?

Do we build our new stadium and the new stadium and CCFC get sold as a package.

Do we continue renting at the Ricoh and produce a conveyor belt of talent that gets sold on to fund the club. Eventually when the business us a profit making business it is sold on.

Any other ideas

Personally I completely disregarded the new stadium idea. As in 95% it won't happen.

Now I am 70% certain it won't happen

Sisu's best chance was always to get at least a half-share in the Ricoh but they have seemingly blown the last of many chances to do so. Their management style has been a disaster almost from day one. They could have been involved in a world class facility but failed. Even if they do build their own stadium (which they won't) it will be a white elephant. Their 'other 342' days will see it sat empty for most of them.

The only chance for CCFC in the future is that Sisu are now planning their exit strategy. Let's hope that involves someone taking over the club and tying it up to the Ricoh. Wasps, perhaps?

That stadium will never get built, not even worth talking about anymore. As for the future ? I will be very surprised if there isn't people in the wings waiting to get their hands on our team. All these latest events aren't knee-jerk actions, planned and thought through imo. Will it be this Derek Richardson fella ? who knows. Boil it down and what have sisu got, a football team struggling to get 8000 for it's home games and that's it.

Hmmm bought out by the Wasps Consortium.

Of course what we really need is new ownership by a group of faceless investors, with a complex ownership structure, where there is no full transparency of where funding is coming from and of course who are prepared to move the Club to a completely new City..............perhaps not.

Something just niggles me that maybe some individuals may personally make some money out of it. That's purely just a feeling as I struggle for any other logical reason to do it.

A lot of times when something gets built that shouldn't it turns out later on someone made some serious dosh.

We all know the answer to that. They do not care a jot about Coventry City and just want their money back. They won't be interested if it is a crappy, corrugated cardboard stadium, that will start to fall apart after 5 years, they will just be looking for a return on their investment.

How many club owners want out of their clubs I wonder. We were only ever in their thinking to make a quick buck and nothing else.

Right, let's assume for one moment that Shitzu do indeed build this new stadium. It is going to be a cheapy in the middle of nowhere. It will be on the lines of Glanville Park and Huish (no offence intended to either Scunny or Yeovil). By its very nature it will not have any conference, hotel or other facilities. Now, can anyone tell me who is going to hire this "bowl" and how it can possibly raise revenue other than upon matchdays. Serious question.

Agreed, but I think the CEO has already said they don't plan on bidding for the club. Why would they? CCFC a paying tenant with no place else to go (forget the new ground talk).

“We had to move otherwise the club would have died. We have been losing £3m a year for a long time and one day after I took over as chief executive we faced a wind-up order over an unpaid six-figure tax bill.

“We had to act not only to ensure we were never in that position again but that we would be financially robust. That meant acquiring our own ground and a facility that we would be able to use every day of the year, not just for 16 home matches. We have achieved that, ensuring our supporters still have a club to follow.”

“Leicester had double our turnover: now it is probably three times greater and a clear gap has opened between Premiership clubs that own their grounds and those who do not. With the salary cap going up and French clubs spending freely, we had to do something.
“Playing at the Ricoh Arena will in time increase our turnover by seven, allowing us to compete at the highest level in England and in Europe.

From that snippet, it suggests that a) Wasps owners dont want to keep funding losses, and b) the success of wasps is the most important thing on their agenda. they wont want to share the 365 day per year revenue, and they wont be wanting to be funding losses on a football club which would take considerable investment to get any kind of success.

I can't see it either. I hope two things 1) the Council haven't completely shafted us and have put some proviso in transffering the veto option to Wasps that they have to accept an equal offer to what's on the table from CCFC (probably a very long shot) 2) If 1 is a possibility then SISU aren't blinkered enough to pass up the offer.
