Helped by the CET pedalling a story that they know damn well could never be fulfilled. More spin to beat the club with.

And councillors spouting it all over social media.

It's almost like "yeah we might not look good, but if we pin it on sisu people will lap it up and we can get away with anything"

The councillor going on about the ball being in the clubs court never did answer me when I said it wasn't quite as simple as that.

the telegraph reporting of this has been pretty inept IMO (sorry Simon). they haven't challenged the decision or the likely impact it will have on both Cov RFC and us. the closest we got was Andy Turners opinion piece. Quite a lot of the national newspapers have been critical of the move. I thought they might try and champion "save our community asset"

The reason it gets lapped up is because we have the most apathetic fans in the country. The club could fold and they'd still be on here banging on about 'Timmy' and 'Joy' and how the council are blameless.

SISU, CCC and these fans together have out the final nails into the ccfc coffin. What makes it even worse is that most of them shot down anyone who questioned sisu when they first arrived.

With the danger of again providing hard facts that will not be liked. So again I will not doubt be called a WUM and someone glorifying wasps etc etc etc

The CET reporting seems very much in keeping with the 'Nationals' except the Times.

It seems the nationals and the CET look at the bigger picture.

I'm not defending the actions of the council in all this, selling out to Wasps etc. I think they've been hypocritical at best and something unrepeatable at worst. However for me another annoying thing is the fact that we had ample opportunity to buy the Higgs share since Sisu came in and didn't do so. The only time we had conversations with the Higgs about buying was after we started the rent boycott. Why didn't we do it sooner, maybe before annoying ACL by not paying rent? Now I may not know a massive amount about big business and all that, but that seems a 'bit' odd to me. Surely if we had been part of ACL negotiating a rent reduction would have been easier. The council also should have been more open from the start of the Sisu ownership about the likelihood of selling their share of ACL to the club.

We're told that the pie money is part of the key to the financial success of the club - hence why we're 'looking' to build our own place. So why didn't we get serious about the Higgs share sooner? IEC wasn't around at the beginning and the whole thing (at least to my tired brain) seemed a bit simpler. I know that Sisu via Onye were keen on another strategy but if the pie money is important now it must have been then too. The financial foundations of the club should surely have been the priority because you don't build a business (or building for that matter) without good foundations if you want it to last.

You're forgetting the CT is a local paper for local people, and trying to protect the CRFC and CCFC.

You're only copying and pasting the headline, doesn't 100% reflect what's actually in the article.

Funny really people swallowing Wasps BS would be up on arms if it was a football club, after MK dons.

Isn't there going to be a spare stadium in london when West ham move to Olympic park? No need to buy the Rioch then.

And yes you're coming over as a bit of a wum at the minute, you're going out of your way to defend the deal to the hilt, and now you're going out of your way to defend CT just because I've questioned their reporting of it. We wanted their support and applaud every anti sisu, anti Northampton, get cov back in cov article, because it was the greater good of our club, community and fans, but in a round about way your saying we're not allowed to want/expect them to be more challenging about a deal that's going to negatively impact on 2 community clubs that have been in existence for 130-150 years.

Stadium is only one leg on the beast. It is what else the stadium has to offer. A 500 thousand plus revenue stream for a start and that's before it is marketed properly. As for other stadiums in London, Wasps fans have discussed Crystal Palace on their forum until they realised that would have been a two hour trip for them, longer than to Coventry.

Wasps are here, for how long or how successful we don't know.

If the community of the club is important to you I suggest that people support CCFC and CRFC while they can. I don't think it will be long before Wasps try and become part of our community and tradition as they have to if this commercial gamble is to pay off. 2700 season tickets may not be the tall order some people are predicting with the right marketing?
