Team for Oldham? (4 Viewers)

Based on Pressley's comments today about picking players that are committed and will "die" out there, surely he has to drop the likes of Allsop and Coulibaly now, as loanees don't seem too bothered. He used to comment that he didn't like loan players for this reason!!!

Ivor Lawton; I've(or) no doubt would put himself about and relish the challenge. Although he's young, he has that nastiness and real desire to win every ball, exactly what we need!

If we are to stick with wing backs, we need at least one who is an actual winger by trade as they will move into midfield areas more naturally and create more of a 4-4-2 shape in attack, O'Brien was used as right back for Barnsley and has the work ethic and quality to play this role better than anyone else. I think we have more options in the centre to allow him to move wide and use two holding players centrally to allow Maddison and the wing backs to get forward......

I would pick this team:

---------------------Burge----------------------
-----------Willis---Webster---Hines------------
O'Brien-----Thomas-------Lawton-----Haynes
--------Jackson---Maddison----Miller----------

......and we would win 2-1!!

I thought Coulibaly did OK, he looked more of a threat than anyone else in midfield. He's hardly had a sniff so I think it's unfair to label him. Would give Allsop a rest but to be honest I'm not too confident in Burge either.

If Pressley only sees it fit to use Maddison sparingly because of his age, start him behind a front two and take him off after 50-60 mins and hopefully bring on a more defensive midfielder to hold onto to a point or 3!

We need to be more positive and on the front foot, hence one more highly committed player (Lawton) + one more out and out attacking player (Maddison) could be the way to go.

Maddison will probably 'do a Haynes' and have a dip after 4-5 stand out games, but while he is clearly looking very effective we should use him for the next few games to try and get us out of this slump

HAHA, couldn't help it! :p I can never neglect an opportunity for a sh*te joke, it's what gets me through the day

Fair one mate.

Back to your post...I agree with Torch re:Coulibaly. He's been out for a while injured so I imagine is still rusty and lacking match fitness.

Hopefully Nouble will be fully fit. Id like a front 3 of Nouble, Maddison and Jackson. Would also like to see Burge start.

coubilaly was poor though, can be no denying that

vs exeter in JPT he was better but lots of improvement needed if hes to become a mainstay of the 3 man midfield

i would like to see barton in middle sitting, with fleck and o brien being able to bomb forward.

Whatever the team, I would love SP to use a successful formation, or at least the willingness to change to a plan B if plan A is failing (as it quite clearly has been)

Was he? I thought he looked OK. He was good at the ball at his feet and ran at the defence. Gave more than Thomas has all season. Or last season for that matter.

Too many kids in this lineup for my liking.

Where's Johnson?

Id give em a go, if we are going to lose we might as well lose with the best of our youngsters than other teams cast offs and strays that have no commitment to the club.

yes he was poor. did nothing after first 15 mins and was no surprise he was subbed off at half time.

the thomas comment is so wrong btw, not his biggest fan at all but he has played well this season.

I want SP to not play any loan players. I want the team to be all CCFC contracted and actually care about this clubs whole season, and not like the loaness who after January, couldn't give two fucks about CCFC.

Is go 442. If it doesn't work, atleast he's tried it. 3 at te back just isn't working, no matter what other set up is in front of them. I'd go

Burge (Allsopp's had his chance. Now it's Burges for a run in the team. One game here or there isn't a real assessment of him IMO)
Phillips
Willis
Webster (unless Johnson is fit)
Haynes
OBrien
Barton
Fleck (if fit)
Coulibaly (yes he was awful on Saturday and rightly subbed at HT but he's playing out of position)
McQuoid
Miller (think he deserves a start and Jackson is in need of a rest I think).

But in reality, it will look nothing like this come tomorrow

Allsop
Phillips Webster Willis Hines Haynes
O'Brien Barton Maddison
Miller Jackson

Unfortunatley i just cant see Pressley dropping this crappy formation any time soon. It could end up costing him his job. And has anybody else noticed Pressley never plays Haynes and Phillips in the same team?

I think i said he "did OK". As for Thomas, we'll agree to disagree. I must have missed his great passing and crunching tackles.

tbh if you felt cobilaly had a good game on saturday your probably just a shit judge of a player:p
