They should have done some research before they moved here. Had they have known how insular and backward the population was , they wouldn't have bothered.
I mean Coventry Blaze was a completely made up team and I couldn't think of anything more boring but I back anyone who wants to go and watch it and enjoy themeselves.

You are one of lifes pricks my friend jump on a bandwagon and let it just roll along. In case you haven't noticed as we stand now with or without Wasps we are headed south my dear, fast, towards the bottom of division 3, then 4 , then where ? As I said a successful club at the Ricoh might, just might tempt someone to have a go and reserect us and there are certainly connections in this Wasp scenario.

The same kind of people watch both games. Except that rugger fans are more friendly than football fans. They drink togethe. Watch games together. They even watch each others clubs. And the further up north you go the more of them you get.

It's different reasoning. Sod franchising as that can be debated. Called out by about 3 people
We were moved to Northampton because our greedy owners wanted to get the Ricoh cheap (not for CCFC but for SISU) and I for one never went because I did not support that plan.
Proven, because they came back due to only a few fans supporting that plan for whatever their reasons.
Sisu have had exactly the same offer as Wasps and on many occasions. They could be 100% in control of ACL and all income streams including CCFC rent and you know it.
Wasps have no home, they are loosing support at Wycombe and have made a calculated risk there is a gap for first class Rugby in this area.
IMHO this is a do or die decision for them.
For Coventry ratepayers and surrounding businesses it feels good for the first time in a few years.
A successful CCFC and Wasps will reap benefits for everyone.
IMHO CCFC will always rent and will be no worse off for it, as long as they can get a buy in to all football related incomes (which has been inferred to by Wasps)

Even you I didnt have down as a Council mouthpiece - thought it was all about the sport, tradition, that sort of thing. basically you are saying you are so selfish you wouldnt go to Sixfields(on principle!) but its ok for Wasps fans to travel 100 miles because its better for Coventry ratepayers...
By the same logic we dont have a home so should continue the search for a new stadium which i trust you will support.

What they chose to do, was not to pay the asking price for a home ground.
All good business sense, of course... but haven't we had enough of owners making decisions on business grounds? Do we want to validate the financial above the sporting?

we'll ignore the fact you aren't smart enough to understand that there is no hypocrisy for a minute because there is more subtlety there. We can just look at the fact you are wrong because I have no intention of going to watch wasps which is the entire reason you started your tirade towards me when I was just being reasonable enough to look at other peoples reasoning and you are wrong because I didn't insult those going to sixfields. I thought not attending had more chance of bringing us home but I always said people should do what makes them happy and that people attending sixfields didn't deserve to be called scabs etc.
If I ever do decide I want to go and watch wasps which I probably won't, I'll just go, I won't need to explain myself, I won't be a hypocrite, I won't be doing ccfc any harm and I wouldn't be doing anything wrong.

We aren't getting back to the PL under any scenario under SISU, staying where we are is still preferable to building a new stadium, buying the Ricoh would have been the best option of course it would, thats what we all wanted years ago when they said they were going too. The fact they havn't done so though has nothing to do with wasps and everything to do with their own actions.
building our own stadium would increase revenues but it would also increase expenses by a greater amount so we won't be financially better off and it will be harder still to get back to the PL, not to mention it won't be big enough to cope should it actually happen. The new stadium plan has never made financial sence, we've all known it all along and not having the option to buy the ricoh doesn't change that at all. The fact we now can't buy the stadium sucks, it means we have even less hope, but as things stand we have no hope anyway and so its hard to lose any

I can't see how anyone can debate that this is a franchise team. Their owner admits they should be in West London, their fans come from West London and it's surrounding areas. Wycombe wasn't great, but it wasn't as far away from West London as Coventry. So for f*cks sake, if you're going to go and watch them, man up and admit that you're supporting a franchise.
As for the impact on CCFC, how can it be beneficial? At best, CCFC now have to stay as a tenant - at worst, they move out (and probably out of the city). Neither of those options is particularly appealing to me.
So again, supporting Wasps brings no benefit to CCFC - this unless they are proposing to share their revenues with the club, which seems extremely unlikely given they've just bought them!
Again, I'd argue that if your first loyalty is to CCFC, then actively not supporting Wasps would be the best course of action - because the best hope of the club ever getting some part of the Ricoh's income streams is for Wasps to fail.
I can see why people might want to watch Wasps, and it's a free country, but as far as I'm concerned it's supporting something that's morally wrong, and clearly not in the best interests of CCFC.

I understand us CCFC fans being disappointed that CCFC are not 100% into ACL but with these clowns in charge it was never going to happen anyway. We need to understand that Sisu have gambled and lost and this is know the best, if not ideal, situation to move on.
We need to wait until the Higgs share is sorted and hopefully then the positives will start to come in.

I'm always nervous about making this a moral judgement, because at the end of the day it's just how someone chooses to spend their cash on their leisure activity... if the free market says I'm in a minority in being against franchise sport then, well... I'll accept I'm in the minority and be smug when it all falls apart further down the line instead
I am genuinely baffled however, that some of those who bleated most about the morality of those watching CCFC at Sixfields now seem to be most defensive of the right to watch Wasps in Coventry!:slap:

So why does it benefit the normal tax payer that wasps are here? What difference will they notice? Will they get a council tax rebate?

But if they build bridges, buy into the Ricoh as our home (Stop the JR and new stadium nonsense), push for all football income streams as inferred to by Wasps CEO and concentrate efforts on the pitch rather than all the politics we will be fine.
When I go to the Ricoh I see it as our home, away fans talk about it as CCFC home and how great a stadium it is and no one really cares who actually owns it.
CCFC have no chance of ever owning it. At the very best it will be owned by CCFC owners and we will be charged rent for it.
In that respect the level of the rent and access to footballs incomes is all that matters, which happens to be exactly the same situation we are in at the moment.
I feel safety in numbers (CCFC/WASPS) here and that people need to understand where we are and how we got here and move on.
