It's a trick question, cos Thorn was never a manager.

It didn't take long for him to get found out after taking over at kidiminster. it's a shame we didnt get in Robins earlier, im sure he would have kept us up.

Totally agree. We were good enough to stay up that season and we would have had a fighting chance if we had, had a proper manager at the helm.

Unfortunately Andy Thorn turned out to be Mike Bassett.

cant help but feel grabbing a 4thy's board and show 0 added minutes on the rare times we were winning could have cheered things up under that miserable git

hahaha he likened his job here to "swimming the channel with an oven on his back"....he probably borrowed it off one of his followers on this forum.

Yeah he's too thick to come up with that himself.

If we never had that twat at the club we'd be in a better place now.

Couldn't agree more. It was made even worse by the majority who actually thought he was good and was fighting a battle against sisu. I still don't understand why they didn't applaud sisu for hiring one of the best up and coming managers in the country hahaha.

Yeah right. If sisu hadn't taken us down with Thorn it would have been with someone else. We'd still be exactly where we are now. It probably just happened quicker with Thorn that's all.

It's also interesting most fans are turning on Pressley far more than thorn yet thorn had far better support from the club.

He even spent £500,000 on one player - Cody the championship goal machine

Also only cash in league one - Adam Barton the midfield general.

Always spots a player does Andy.

I think if fisher and waggot had come in instead of Ken it may have at least meant survival. Then again even they let thorn stay on when relegated so who knows.

hahahaha!! His PR website is always a good laugh as well. If by a miracle Thorn had done what SP did last season some fans would be wanting him to be offeres a contract dor life.

They'd have kept him on to stop a revolt. I still don't understand why they kept him on and let him blow our budget.

Dongle would be demanding he gets a star in LA.

List them in order of personal preference (or of least rubbishness).

Mcallister, Black, Reid, Adams, Dowie, Boothroyd, Coleman, Thorn, Robins, Pressley.

1. Robins
2. Black
3. Adams
4. Dowie
5. Pressley
6. Boothroyd
7. Coleman
8. Reid
9. McAllister
10.Thorn
Changing this thread Otis and showing my age but you have to go back to the sixties to the best manager in Jimmy Hill, followed by Cantwell for getting us into Europe, then Milne/Mercer in my opinion, then Curtis/Sillett for the Cup Final.Since 87 it's been mediocre to say the least !

My expectations nowadays are not what they used to be, that why I'm probably still a ST holder and go to watch regardless of how well we're doing. Because of this I put Hoothroyd, Reid and for this seasons showing so far from Pressley(he was blessed IMO with prolific goal scorers last year) below Thorn who by any stretch of the imagination was not a football manager, purely for the match day experience(suffering) they delivered. Robins was my top choice(for football development and organisation shown on the pitch only) over the others.

lmao cj if adams comes back i think you might be the only one left in the ricoh

Andi, you mean you don't feel like you are anyway every week?! I know I do. Don't get me wrong, it certainly has it's charms. Not many grounds that gives you 17 rows of legroom and enough empty seats either side for Stretch Armstrong to rest his arms on.

Dowie was the first time sisu screwed us i have no doubt had he stayed we would have beat west brom beat portsmouth and knowing us lost to cardiff at wembley in the fa cup final

Remind me what the score was against the Baggies at the Ricoh earlier that season when we did have Iain and Tim in charge.

OMG .....%-1must have been in the league.

That season:
City 0-4 Tesco Bags - Miffy sent off
TB 2-4 City - Miffy scored two in his first game back after the suspension and Paul Robinson was sent off
City 0-5 TB - Micky Doyle sent off

Yeah just checked while on CCFC92 post (wiki) we had a squad of 38 .

Oh to play the likes of Hull and Stoke again.

The thing I always felt with Dowie was he could get the players motivated for the 1 off big games.

I still think with him in charge we would have gone into that Charlton game without being safe, but I seriously doubt we would have lost 4-1 in that game with him in charge.

I swear the players didn't turn up that day on purpose ..Ranson or Coleman or both decided to render the fitness coach John (Harbin ??)

unemployed or not to attend the final game ,after retaining him post dowie.

Coleman would be the least favourite, even after Thorn. The latter was simply a bumbling fool who should never have been manager, whereas Coleman squandered resources 2 years running and messed up play-off chases 2 years running to boot. The number of players he had available who have since gone on to play in the top flight speaks volumes about what a waste his tenure was.

I agree. I remember losing 4-0 at near bottom of the table Blackpool and him saying the players put in a fully committed performance and he couldn't ask for more! Says it all about the guy.

we were a totally different team in the cups that season the same team that got thrashed by blackpool in the league beat premier league blackburn 3 weeks later in the cup lets not pretend west brom were a sure thing say what you want about dowie but he could sure as hell get that team going for a cup game.

if memory serves me right wasnt he referring to the way the team tried to battle after kyle had been sent off why are all your arguments about dowie been poor based around games we had a player sent off in first west brom now blackpool
