we were a totally different team in the cups that season the same team that got thrashed by blackpool in the league beat premier league blackburn 3 weeks later in the cup lets not pretend west brom were a sure thing say what you want about dowie but he could sure as hell get that team going for a cup game.

Agree and never said otherwise.

if memory serves me right wasnt he referring to the way the team tried to battle after kyle had been sent off why are all your arguments about dowie been poor based around games we had a player sent off in first west brom now blackpool

Some of the worst performances I've seen as a City fan were that season. Home to Palace and Bristol City & away at Ipswich and Plymouth stick in my mind.

That's all well and good, but any managers bread and butter is the league and his league form was no better than Coleman's.

I think Dowie was given a rough deal. IIRC Ranson had Coleman lined up even before the takeover.

Wiki :
"On 11 February 2008, Dowie was released from his contract as Coventry manager,[18] which was officially cited as being due to significant differences of opinion between the management team and the Board as to how the club should be going forward.["

Ranson had fired the Academy Director and scrapped the reserve team at about this time. Hindsight is a fine thing but the squad at the time was much physically fitter and seemed more coherent than it then became in the days of Coleman and Thorn.

So

1 Dowie
2 Robins
3 Black

The rest aren't worth mentioning.

For me, Pressley is number 1. He is OUR manager now and is 100% committed and loyal to CCFC. He has put up with an apalling situation over the last 18 months and has handled himself with dignity and professionalism. Yes, it's been a tough five weeks and yesterday was a fantastic come back but I hope he is our manager for a long time.
I think he will be the man to get us promoted back to the championship, probably next year
i ask this question, if not Pressley in charge, who do you think will be next. Better the devil you know.
PUSB and support Pressley and his team.

I certainly do, but we cannot go back to the performances that saw us go on that terrible run.

We put in the same effort of yesterday and we'll be okay, but if we let it all slip again the pressure will be right back on the bloke again.

Agree Otis. If the "best 1st team" is available with the two main leaders, Reda and Nouble on the pitch we will do fine. Maybe close to play offs. If Nouble stays beyond January, I understand discussions are ongoing , and Reda stays fit it could be a decent couple of months.

Robins - Always seemed to agree with his assessment post game.
Dowie - Liked him and Flowers. Sacked for no reason, had he had Colemans backing we'd be in the Prem (yeah I went there)
Nilsson - loved him as a player, best I've seen in a City shirt. Not given enough time as a manager.
Pressley - dropped down the rankings thanks to recent form, like his vision for the club, still willing to give him time.
Black - Was at uni when he was here so didn't see much of the football but appreciated the results
Boothroyd - was OK until he lost it.
Adams - was OK, but referred to himself in the third person, a cardinal sin.
Coleman - shit manager. Shit football. Most well backed of the kit and doubled it up the wall.
McAllister - nice bloke, shit manager. Will let him off as his wife was ill.
Thorn - nice bloke, shit manager. Did have his team ripped apart, but who didn't?
Reid - nobhead.

There was a good reason to sack Dowie: The team sat 19th in the table with two-thirds of the season done, and were on a nasty slide (8 points in 10 games). His cup successes, though fondly remembered, do cover up his poor performance in the league.

I agree with this. In my opinion, the biggest problem with football managers is that they are never given enough time to make a difference. Even if we go down we should give the guy several years to actually build the club to his vision. My biggest fear however is that I don't think he has the same knack as either Thorn or Robbins for spotting a good purchase/Bosman. I do hope that the Academy is still bringing in new kids at 9 or whatever to the same quality that Rioch managed - if not then Pressley's approach is flawed.

I wouldnt put pressley as number 1 .
he gets things wrong tactically alot , despite being a defender he hasnt really shown he is capable of putting together a solid back 4 , his transfer dealings have been for the most part woeful , and his win ratio in the last 46 is just over 21% .
he has a long way to go to say he is number 1 imo , robins was far superior
