Pressley did the right thing today in changing the formation , i am his biggest critic but he simply got it right . For the first 45 mins i thought a couple of players looked a bit clueless as to what we are playing , but 442 with some work is the way forward

as well as the formation change it was also reda and franks return that made the difference today

You could argue the first half was as bad as ever , though second half was fantastic . More the fact that the team as a whole second half fought for everything , not just the 2 players mentioned

First half wasn't great but I've seen worse this season, we didn't deserve to be 2 down

Still played shite first half tho. It was more about the mentality second half. We pressed our arse off and more committed to tackles.

Still a change of formation was most welcome

Agree. The mentality changed 2nd half. We pressed higher up the pitch and increased our tempo too. First half we were too pedestrian yet again.

We seemed to keep it on the floor and go a bit more direct too.

I think Johnson's willingness to fly in and put a tackle in was contagious.

Indeed and Conor Thomas no less, you recall him, the bloke who CAN'T tackle? Well he put 3 crunching tackles in today and very good tackles they were too.

i agree the first half was bad.it was what the two did though. one was throwing himself into tackles and putting his body on the line meanwhile down the other end nouble was industrious and trying to cause problems. this had an impact on their team mates and gave us some belief. getting the goal so early gave us a lot of confidence and our tails were up from then on

Barton played better than Thomas IMO. Still a weak link

Barton did play better than Thomas today, but first half, apart from Reda, Barton and Nouble, everyone was crap.

2nd half many players stepped up to the plate and Thomas was very much one of those, along with O'Brien.

Barton looked a class act today, if he can keep up that level of performance he can become a key player.

Just needs a bit more self belief

Yep just put on another thread that second half he was putting in some great tackles. Apart from the one around the neck that got him booked!

I thought Fleck and Thomas had poor games today, Barton and O'brien were immense and Reda Johnson needs to play every game, he and Nouble are both units and give the team a physical presence and Johnson's 50 yard headers certainly help clear the lines!

an excellent yellow card. fair play to him, he had his head screwed on there. if he hadnt of fouled him there fella was away and the way things have been going for us lately would probably have resulted in a goal

Agreed. The best I've seen Barton play, o'brien was great second half and as was Thomas. Fleck was a bit hit and miss on the left

442 is Deffo the way forward but main thing for me is we need a new keeper sharpish the two we have no way near cut it,with a bit of experience in goal and keep reda fit and nouble all year and you never know

We need a new keeper sharpish.

We also need at least another good defender and another midfielder to play the ball winning position.

We also need cover for Reda and Nouble too. Those 2 go missing and we lose at least 50% of the physicality of the whole team.

It's tough though, you're not going to get many of players of similar quality to Nouble and Reda who are going to be happy to come and play back up to those players.

We need to get more physical players in other positions so when Reda is out we don't miss him as much as we have. I'd go back in for Diagoura from Brentford or a similar player, also get rid of one of Miller, Tudgay, Mcquoid and bring in a big, powerful forward.

I think 4-4-2 was the wrong formation for this game......Fergie knew we would revert to it kept three up and we could have been dead and buried by half time.

It was key personnel returning a cahnge in mentality and spirit and some luck that got us the win not 4-4-2 formation today.

That being said I am old fashioned and like this formation but had nada to do with the win today in my opinion.

Yes, agree.

I was quite impressed by Peterborough at times. They zip the ball about, they have a lot of pace about them and their movement going forwards is excellent.

They didn't really threaten us much though, it has to be said. A more clinical team would have easily polished us off and put the game to bed by half time.

You have yet to see the best of Barton. I'm just glad the manager has seen sense and given him a chance.

Barton has always looked decent to me, but with really fragile confidence.

He has to learn to force the issue only he can work through it and get on the pace with consistency.

i have not been hugely impressed by pboro or bristol in all honestly.

we are not that far off the best teams in this league, unfrotuntley sometimes we ae not far off the worst either

with a few tweaks, signings and confidence it can still be an exciting season imo

This^. FFP and Bosman has combined to make a lot of teams similar as it has been 10+ players out at the end of their contracts and 10+ in on 1 yr deals and this will only get worse.

We now have the lure of the Ricoh to attract players but is this combined a manager with a rep mainly for bringing through youngsters enough?

Maybe, just maybe, we'll look back at 2 down at home today as the turning point...
