Think we need to get a good left winger in on loan if we can and maybe an experienced central midfielder , and in all honesty think danny pugh will be the far better left back option when hes back as hes simply a better defender than haynes .
try and tie up nouble until the end of the season also

Funny what a change in formation does for people's opinions on here. For me it was always hard to judge the players in the 5-3-2 as they weren't given the correct platform to perform. I'd still rather Pressley was replaced, however if we stick with this system we could rocket up the table as we have a squad capable of a play off place and this league is very very shit.

Fact is if pressley was any good he would have changed from 352 about 4 weeks ago , he left it until he was totally desperate . That being said second half was the most attacking and dangerous we have looked all season , down to the players or the manager i dont care , im just glad i had a smile on my face for a change

Let's not get too carried away. It was only 1 good 45 mins. The win was as much about the sheer effort they put in in the second half than the formation. If they'd have worked like that for the last 7 games we'd have picked up more than 1 point.

Need to keep that level of performance up and start delivering over 90 mins rather than waiting until we're 2-0 down.

That was only the third time in 40 years we had come from behind to win. All anyone has to do is think about that for 5 seconds and getting carried away isn't physically possible.

Yes I know. (And don't hog mean only the third time we've come back from 2 goals down to win)?

see ruud gullits analysis of liverpool's lack of width - exactly the same as ours under 5 3 2. it only works if your back players push wide and high

even the 1st half yesterday our middle 4 played miles away from the forwards - it only changed when they closed the gap, as soon as they linked up with o brien/haynes etc pushing forward

its not rocket science really we just need to play that way from the beginning

Apologies 2-0 down to win (still nursing a heavy hangover).

Saw that, very refreshing to have someone do some real analysis on motd

Agree and Nouble and McQuoid were playing far too far apart in the first half. 2nd half they played a lot tighter to each other (same with Jackson) too, and we were all the better for it.

The full backs got into advanced positions on more occasions than they did as wing backs. Even Willis delivered a cracking cross towards the end.

He did.

We played from too deep in the first half and Haynes put in at least 3 crosses over when there was next to no City player even near the penalty area.

Because we played a higher line and pressed 2nd half, when the crosses were coming in we had more numbers in the box and we were a lot more threatening as a result.

One of our biggest problems this season (in the games I've seen) has been the isolation of the strikers.

I remember Nouble breaking clear on the right in the first half, looking up and there being no Cov players in, or even near the box.

As a number of people have said, we looked much less stretched as a team in the second half and as a consequence we actually started to look like we could threaten the opposition goal.

More of that please.

This is right. I listened to Pressley's interview on the FL Show and he was saying something like we played in the 'real Coventry City way'. I thought that was about right - inconsistent, play well one half and rubbish the other, and only wake up when the game looks like a lost cause.

Peterborough played us off the park in the first half and we were deservedly two down. Only then did we wake up and play properly. So why can't we do that over a full game and on a regular basis? That's how you succeed at this level. The formation may have helped but it is a minor issue really. Pressley is the coach and he has wasted a third of a season pissing about with his mad ideas. What he should be doing is making sure he picks the right players and that they perform at their peak as they did in the second half. Anything less will be unacceptable.
