And aren't they the same issues with the Ricoh? People moan about it being hard to get to (yes station is being built), but it's still not particularly easy to get to other than by driving for most of those outside the city. Italia thinks they will be attracting fans from Shropshire and Staffordshire.

That wont happen, you would go to Leicester or Northampton but what I would say is people who support big clubs (look at Man Und or Wigan Warriors) will glady travel half way across the country to see there sides at home so I don't see it stopping the current die hard Wasps fans.

There's no difference. Oh, apart from one isn't SISU. That's all that really matters to some.
Thats the real frustration. Had all the arsing about not happened we would run ACL by now but ohhh no Joy wants the freehold and for nothing and all contracts in place ripped up and if we could stuff both goals full of £50 notes for her as well!! :jerkit:

I imagine that if a top flight club were to relocate to Coventry a lot of our fans would ditch CCFC in seconds.

One of the things people like with Rugby is that you can have a beer all the way through the game (how ironic will that be when were sitting up there on a Saturday thinking if I miss the last 10 minutes of the first half I might get a pint in by the start of the second half!) so people don't drive and getting to Leicester by train or bus is total bollocks. I don't know anyone who supports Northampton or Gloucester and that live in Coventry so I can't comment on that.

My next door neighbour supports Northampton and drives there.

What won't happen. People travelling from Warwickshire and West Midlands to watch a top class Rugby game?
If Wasps get established it would be easy to adopt them as their team, particularly as they have now set down some deep roots.

My reference to Shropshire and Staffordshire is based on an absence of top class Rugby in those areas and the M6 corridor.

In reference to Leicester and Northampton you would need to drive a further 20 & 35 miles to get to them. If you are just after top class rugby why would you do that ?

Anyway, it will be a few years before we can see whether Wasps decision is a good one for them and Rugby fans.

Sisu played with fire (using our club) and got fingers burnt. Wasps seen an opening and took it. What's so ruthless about that?

Haven't Wasps owners played with fire dealing with a council they have no previous relationship with, over a potential deal that could've/could still alienate their fans?

I completely agree with Stupot07. There's an element of hypocrisy in Covstu's opening few sentences there (and I pretty much always agree with Stu and his opinions)

So, why are people so excited about Wasps moving to the city when there is already a rugby team here to support?

Most potential customers, including myself, are not from Coventry and have not established a connection with Cov RFC.
CCFC got me hooked as a kid from Bedworth because they had just got promoted to L1 (1967) put buses on direct from HR to Bedworth and were on Match of the Day every week.

Straw clutching comes to mind. So you will be happy to play your part in the death of Coventry's rugby club?

They will not die at the level they are and if they play there cards right they could use Wasps fringe players.
I think Coventry people will continue to support CovRFC whilst others from farther afield may support Wasps.
Some will support both.

How limp ! Go to Wasps and embrace the franchise if you must but stating a weak argument like this is pathetic. No affiliation with Coventry I'm from Bedworth Pfft !

No none of the above...that people from Shropshire and Staffordshire wont travel regularly to the Ricoh to watch Wasps unless they are already die hard fans

Not really, we're CCFC fans and not Cov rugby fans so I doubt it but then you already know that. However, a thread a little while ago about what other sports people like threw up quite a lot of different sports that people on here enjoy and as a lot on here don't have any affiliation to any particular rugby team, why can't they go and watch a top flight rugby match on their doorstep?

About the same amount as Wasps' own. FFS, it's not difficult to grasp.

What am I not grasping? taking bits of my post trying to suit your argument when I all I was pointing out is that if Sisu had the ground we still wouldn't own it just like now Wasps have it. Just that Sisu are wankers for allowing it to get to this. But thanks for your input and nice to know you're still about.

You're not grasping the simple fact that Wasps also won't own the Ricoh, but a Maltese based hedge fund. And yes, SISU are wankers, I'm certainly not saying they aren't.

Why do ccfc 'fans' applaud the council selling the Ricoh to one hedge fund over the other?

I'd have thought there would have been a lot more outrage over this?

I think you'll find that the club is going down the tubes with a whimper, there have been that many things to be outraged obout over the last few years people have had enough I think the majotity don't care anymore.
