For all those who have made a comment regarding Pressley having to rely on freebies etc and using this to justify the debacle on Sunday here is a question.

How many games have these players that struggled against a conference north team played in the championship of premiership?

Probably more reflective would be how many games had

Murphy
Christie
Clarke
Wilson
Moussa
Adams
Baker
played in comparison to their replacements

Burge
Pugh
Reda
Nouble
Tudguy
Hines
JOB

It's probably slightly more appearances by the crowd that left.

That's probably a better own goal than the one the German guy scored at the weekend.

The ones currently in the squad have played far more.

Adams has never played above league one.

Murphy beat burge - you are wrong on every other one.

As I have posted on other threads Grendel, we have youth and inexperience but we are not an inexperienced team. we have plenty of experience.

What we lack is application, attitude and professional development.

Is that due to the ownership and corporate organisation?
Is it the manager?
Is it the back room staff?

Is it the players?

The answer lies in all the above. But the owners have been here the longest and employed the rest. They have to take responsibility, short of stumbling on the right formula?

Danny Pugh & Tudguy may have played at a higher level but wouldn't get near such a team now, players age differently, Garry McAllister was still a great player in his mid 30s, these 2 have started their decline earlier. Considering the likely wages we were offering, many of the players were here because they couldn't get a contract at a club in a higher league. Simeon Jackson has scored 12 goals in the last 3 and a bit seasons at 4 clubs, indicates to me that he is living off his 1 good season at Norwich, he will be gone at the end of the season also. David Prutton played at higher levels previously but is without a club currently. I believe that a lot of our signings were players there were struggling to get a club in this league.

O'Brien, Johnson and Nouble will probably have close to a hundred each.
Tudgay several hundred
Martin and Jackson played probably about 50/60 games.
Barton and Thomas about 30 each

Around 700-800?

That does surprise me. Not that I must point out have I said anything about appearances.
Quality is what is more important
Which list would you prefer?
Then think the top list never got promoted!

OK put it another way. Which ones would you swap given a choice. I would have kept the first list over all of the second. Shows the environment that SP is working in.

Do you have to read every thread to know what posters are talking about? I am a bit slow obviously. Whats your point?

The point is that we should have beat Worcester.

You could put anyone in the world in charge and they couldn't have done any worse in the FA Cup than Pressley.

Barton and Thomas have played around 90 professional games each. That equates, allowing for injuries and loss of form, to three seasons worth of experience each. Plus they have been brought up to play football at a professional level so have other game/life experience to draw off.

No excuses, those two have to live of their performances.

The likes of Burge, Haynes, Finch, Maddison and Phillips deserve a bit of slack and time to develop.

That's exactly the point. Blaming other factors is a joke as is the league position with the squad.

His point is that they have played all those games, were seen as no good by their parent clubs so we had them.

This post is just nonsense, before Callum joined Bournemouth - he had played 1 game in the Championship. In 2008 we signed a right back with PL experience (Liverpool & Sunderland) , he played 66 games for us and looked awful in most, he was released and 18 months later was playing non-league - Stephen Wright so like a lot of our players there may be experience but I fear this is just a stop gap as they slide down the leagues, how many of SP's new permanent additions would we claim their career was on the up. Experience has a part to play in any team but without ability an experienced player will struggle.

The same as Leon Clarke, frank moussa, Blair Adams you mean?

No more reflective is that most of the players we shipped out went to higher standard of football. a Most of the ones we brought in have come from the youth team or have dropped down a level for not being good enough.

I know which I'd sooner have.

No they haven't and Clarke and Christie were never going to stay.

I think he meant in the championship or above as per the OP.

This not an argument regarding free signings v transfer fees Moussa & Leon C were cracking free signings (Blair Adams has joined the mighty Notts County - didn't rate him as a defender) there are good ones but our recent ones seem poor and 1 year contracts may be the safe option but the fact that a player is willing to accept a 1 year contract does be so many other questions.

I think we are all missing the main issue here experience is one thing but would we like to have a team with players as they were in their final season with us Stephen Wright Julian Gray Marcus Hall De Zoo Michael Hughes Tim Sherwood Andy Impey Trevor Benjamin Sheffers - all experienced footballers but their careers were on the slide

So you think we should not look at championship players but sign league two and non league players as their careers are on the up?
