What a shambles a club that can only generate 4,000 at home to London Irish is taking on the Ricoh whilst our owners twiddled their fingers

It's worse than a shambles. It's a disgrace.

''Sports franchises'' is a cancer spreading through English sport. My own opinion is folk should stay away from franchises such as Wasps and MK Dons. Going to their home matches only encourages new franchises.

I've never gone to MK Dons ground.never will.

That's a fair shout NF but problem with that is no one cares that you don't go. I actually think you are right and we should all stay away from franchise sport in every shape and form but people don't care enough. 7k to mk dons will prove that.
I really fear for sport in general but ccfc is almost dead and will probably have to move out again due this wasps franchise.

We take nearly as many fans to MK year after year than we have for Home games.

Hey fellas, overseas wasps supporter here. Been reading your forum for a few weeks now (nice to see opinions, thoughts etc). Been a few topics I've thought about answering to, but finally got around to registering.

The match on Sunday was LV cup, which is basically a development competition, usually it's academy players (2nds/3rd choice players) with a few seniors to help keep the patterns, which means much lower crowds. Wasps haven't exactly been getting massive crowds regardless, but 4k for LV cup isn't that bad considering.

No idea on how they'll do at the Ricoh. I suspect they'll be hoping to get a good number of general rugby supporters with no particular allegiances just wanting to see a live game at premiership level, if they play well enough, then the supporter might start getting a bit more involved with the team and become more of a fan.

Inevitably over time wasps will gain bigger support by being in Coventry. It will inevitably some where down the line be looked upon as a Coventry team. Look at MK Dons. Their support keeps increasing.

Funny that you and your fellow cronies on here were happy with everything that sisu had done.

Now you all feel they have been hard done by you and your fellow cronies on here are squealing like pigs.

So why now should it matter who owns the stadium, you were all happy for us to be at sixfields for 4 years and then move to a new ground?

Your battle cry was support the lads?

That's how we protest - go to MK.

Surely if these people were/are so desperate for PL rugby they'd nip down the road to Leicester?

I hope with all my heart the whole thing falls flat on its face and they piss off back to London/Wycombe/wherever the hell it is that they come from.

You will find people want a team of their own.
I'm from Warwickshire so Wasps could fulfil that criteria for me.
Leicester is a no no as it is for football.

Wish people would start to look at this positively.
CCFC and Wasps can work with both supporting each other financially.

CCFC will never own it's own stadium even with Sisu plans A and B.
We will always rent, so lets get a good rental deal and agree a deal on football related incomes.

Driving for half an hour or more to go to Tigers on a Saturday is rather different to being able to walk/hop on a bus and go to Wasps on a Sunday after lunch and then be able to have a few beers.

Not sure if it's been said already - 20,000 tickets sold so far for the Wasps vs London Irish game in December..

They had sold 3.000 last week so I doubt it

Alright, don't shoot me, just referencing a post from the butts talk site. The poster seems to wind people up, not by being wrong with rumours necessarily but comes across with a sort of 'funny' attitude towards Cov Rfc (I'm not saying anything derogatory as he says he's an ex- para..)I've tried booking some tickets via the Wasps site - I'm a Cov Rfc fan first and foremost but don't want to go to Leicester, oh no, to watch prem rugby. Anyway, there's a big chunk in red 'sold out' and a big section with limited availability for the L-Irish game. Make of that what you will. Sorry if I've p'eed anyone off.

Think I know which post you're talking about. Doubt it's trustworthy, and no idea if the tickets available are limited (it was suggested that large sections of the stadium would be covered). Doubt that it's hit 20k.

The "sold out" sections have not been released for sale.

Nobody's being shot at but 20,000 sales already would infer a sell out by 21st Dec. There will be a few curious Wasps fans and a few curious Midlanders but I doubt that in total they will amount to much more than 6000 total.

I think the first game will get a high turnout, just because people want to be part of the first game and perhaps have a drink in their seat (like myself).
I have no idea how far down attendances will go after that.

I don't think anyone was "happy" about Sixfields, not even those who attended. I certainly was never "happy" about it.

Surely you can see that it certainly DOES matter who owns the stadium, particularly when the new owners are a franchise outfit from out of town. Particularly when that out-of-town franchise outfit got the Ricoh for less than we've paid in rent since we've been there.

The battle cry certainly was about "supporting the lads" for me. No other reason. If the impossible happened and we moved to a new stadium, I would follow and continue to "support the lads". Sixfields was for four years - turned out to be one. Wasps and the Ricoh is for 250.

Funny that you and your fellow cronies moan about Sixfields and City fans continuing to support the club they follow yet not a word at the fans - like Italia, MMM, S_R and others who welcome Wasps and will attend matches. They are supporting "someone else's lads".

People may not have agreed with me and that's fair enough but don't make stuff up and label me and others "happy". It does you no favours.

Make of this as you will; but Wasps are talking of an aspiration in terms of exceeding the current record for an English home league game - which I think is 24K.

Now, either they're mad and they're going to fall incredibly short; or the have some insight.

Personally, I would always err towards underselling expectation and then exceeding. Maybe I'm fundamentally different? Maybe they do have some idea of demand?

Two things. Firstly, whatever the number, they're not freebies. Even for RFU-affiliated clubs, the deal is buy 10 and get 2 free; so pay for 8. They're not being scattered around like confetti. Second point, and please note well, this is not my view - I am reporting back what was told last night. I'm not having it that in a month's time, I'm accused of saying it'd be a 24K+ gate, as I'm not

The latest poster blurb includes ...

"The cheer of the Wasps faithful will reverberate from Allesley to Wyken as London Irish become the first visitors to the Ricoh Arena.
The exiles will be sent home having felt the full sting of a powerful Wasps side.

They say that 'home is where the heart is', and on December 21st Wasps will show the people of Coventry what true heart really is."

Ha Ha good on ya MMM, I preferred your spin when it was directed at SISU thanks. 'Aspirations'...............yup, I've just bought two lotto tickets today for Friday and I have those same dreams { aspirations} of conquering odds of about 400 million/1. 24,000......even Leicester struggle with that most weeks !

Not asking for any favours my stance has been the same through all of this.
I will support CCFC while they are in Coventry and if they move out of Coventry I will move on.
To try and blame this on the Wasps CCC, ACL and Higgs for all of this is madness.
Funny you say you blame sisu when challenged but never have a bad word for them most of the time.

Yet you and your cronies are quick to jump on any thread that involves the other parties????
Who has throughout all of this mess said we are moving to a new ground?

Funny it was a stadium no one wanted a white elephant with no commercial worth yet now they all fight over it. Sorry but Sisu got what they wanted Someone else to blame never wanted to pay a penny for it!!!

So when CCFC move out of Coventry to a new area will you then follow that New franchise Club?

Heard now from a more reliable poster, who tells me he got it from a reliable source, that 20k+ have been sold. Could be some truth in it.

If that fairy story was true it would be all over the local press, sorry someone is stepping up the marketing propaganda here.

I would suggest your source, is proper mad, or sadly misinformed.

One mile outside Cov, yes. Five miles outside Cov, yes. 85 miles like Wasps, no. That's when the hypocrisy comes to the fore from people on here. Like you they say I'm not going to see CCFC if they build outside the City boundaries, yet stick up for Lucas for moving a team 85 miles into a stadium that was built for the City's football club.

You have a go at me when I'm "challenged" yet you bend over backwards to stick up for ACL and the Council, who are just as culpable for our mess. Like I said, Wasps have paid less for a 250 year lease than we have paid in rent since the Arena opened. Do you agree with that? Is that fair to the City's football club? IS it fair that a London team gets a deal that we didn't get? And before you drone on about "it's all SISUs fault, blah, blah, blah". Yes, it is SISUs fault but they won't be here forever and the decision the Council have now made will haunt us for a hell of a lot longer than SISU have.

So when CCFC move out of Coventry to a new area will you then follow that New franchise Club?
