Getting to the ground tonight... (5 Viewers)

Hi guys,

Wondered if anyone could help... I live in Stratford so my route to the Ricoh has always been down the A46 through to the ring road and on to A444. I've been in Thailand for the last 3 home games so haven't been to the Ricoh since the Exeter JPT game when there was no roadworks at the end of the A46 but went to Worcester on Sunday with my dad, where we were sat in standstill traffic for nearly two hours and missed kick off by 10 minutes. I don't fancy doing that again and my other option is M40-M42-M6. Despite having spent probably over 100 Saturdays in Coventy over the years I don't actually know it very well (which probably won't go down very well on here) other than my route to the Ricoh & route to Highfield Road. Can anyone recommend an alternative route perhaps coming off the A46 earlier and going round the outskirts? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was wondering the same. Took us 90 mins to get from Warwick. We left at 12.30 and got there during the minutes silence. I am hoping the traffic won't be as bad at 7ish.

Avoid the A46/A45 area coming from Stratford/Warwick its a complete nightmare. Better if coming from Stratford to get on the M42 and come in from the Birmingham end of the A45 or even go right round and come in on the M6

Maybe be head through Hatton, Balsall Common then head for city centre and find your way from there?

Better still take the University turn off at top of slip road turn Right, at the next junction turn left that will bring you to the Stoneleigh road tun left and you end up at the BP Garage on the A45. At roundabout go straight on towards the City Centre get on the Ring road at central six turn off at junction 1 Foleshil road and bingo:)

I live close to the A45 and it takes me about 10 mins to get to the Ricoh

That's a good shout actually. Might try that way tonight. Or through Kenilworth along Gibbetts Hill.

You could try coming off at the (A46) Kenilworth junction ,go through the Main Street ,past Abbey Fields and follow the old road into Coventry, coming in along the Kenilworth Road onto Warwick Road onto the Ring Road junction 6 by the Railway Station.

Depends at what time you are coming as Keniworth road crossing A45 gets very busy!!
Other way is much quicker IMO

Depending on the time I'd be wary of getting on the ring road at Central Six, about 6pm yesterday it was the worst I've seen to date.

I'll be glad when the team moves ten miles closer to me to be honest....:)

(this is, of course, a joke).

Yes it is down to 1 lane on the slip road.

I turn off down Humphrey Burton/Stoney Road past the railway station onto and get on at the Quinton road junction 5 that's the way I go now to get into town.

I tend to go home from Warwick via Spon End way now, it's a slightly longer route but much less chance of getting stuck in standstill traffic. Slowest part is getting off campus to begin with at the moment.

....head for wellesbourne, then join the Fosse Way. head towards Rugby . Skirt the new eastern Bypass past Rugby Cement. Head out to M6 J1 and come off at J3. More miles but you avoid all of Cov until you are in sight of the Ricoh.

On Green lane if you need a lift let me know leaving at 6.20 to pick my brother up in Radford first.

Cheers, I was joking. made my own way here. I imagine Otis is complaining about Barton though.

Ha. That was funny NW. Good job I didn't go for a coffee, it would have been spilt for sure

No really, was he giving Otis a lift to the ground?

Anyway, Bovril at football matches, accept no substitute.

Traffic East / South side of coventry is horrific : 2 major sets of roadworks at 2 key islands with 2 miles of each other .... Genius just genius!
