Even if he did bring in half decent players (which I doubt) he would still piss about with the formation every week, have no tactical know how and fall out with half of them after 6 weeks only to make the latest instalment of #bombsquad. He will then big up their replacements by teaching 6 of the under 14's to play in the 'Coventry way'. If I had the choice of a day out at Wembley and winning this poxy cup and Pressley to stay in charge for another 2 years or lose tonight and Pressley goes, it'd be the loss every single time.

I cringe when I see comments such as 'who is going to do a better job' or 'his hands are tied' 'he's doing the best he can'...well let me tell you, there are a shit load of managers out there who would do ten times better than this useless prick, only who would be responsible for picking him?! Fucking Fishface and Faggot. These 2 clowns 'awarded' him a 4 year Contract for achieving absolutely jack shit. We are totally and utterly bollocksed from top to bottom and that is not likely to change any time soon.

agree with you there, don't get what all the hype about pressley's for, you hear "he kept us up last year after - 10 pts" I honestly think any manager could motivate a team who starts a season on -10, look what happened once we made the gap up, we were awful after the bradford game, forget about changing the clubs DNA we need a manager who knows how to get out of this league, shame for Pressley, seems a decent bloke, think it's just a case of right manager wrong time,

Are we doing marginally better by playing 4-4-2 instead of 5-3-2? Yes.

5 league games since switching to 4-4-2: 8 points gained out of a possible 15

Last 5 league games playing 5-3-2: 1 out of a possible 15

What's the last 5 league games with 532 with Johnson played 90 minutes? 9 point out of 15. 442 has made little difference when we've had a full team out, johnson's (and nouble) absence and return (and signing madine) has been far more a contributing factor for the return to form than switching to 442

you dont

sadly, one thing seems to be for sure....This season is better than next season will be !
I fear you're right.
Maybe I differ from many in that I doubt SP is really the problem.
My suspicion is that he is very closely policed in the transfer market & might usually end up with a third choice (but right price) player after others meddle.
If he were replaced it would only be with someone desperate to work - & that means someone even more committed to the SISU doctrine.
I think CCFC is currently football's equivalent of North Korea!!!

Don't question him, this fella knows his football.

Finally home.

Such a disappointing night. My opinion on Pressley has changed slightly.

The fans deserve so much more. Sung none stop from 6:30 till after the final whistle.

We've got a side of similar quality to Thorn's side. Pressley partly forced and partly of his own volition has got rid of the solid(ish) base we had with Robins. We're desperately short in midfield yet we've got numerous strikers.

You mean this one, when he was sacked after three draws. One against the league favourites. One away against a team that got promoted and the third one a poor draw at home against Bury.

1 Murphy
2 Clarke
24 Wood
16 Barton
3 Hussey booked at 60 minutes
35 Brown
10 Fleck (substituted for McSheffrey at 34 minutes')
15 Kilbane
17 Ball (substituted for Elliott at 64 minutes')
9 McDonald
27 Daniels

14 Elliott
6 Malaga
12 Jennings
8 Baker
25 Edjenguele
11 McSheffrey
13 Dunn

Don't think the criticism stems just from the poor quality of some of his signings, but more his unwavering defence of his players regardless of performance, Worcester aside. He uses superlatives when they aren't justified and seems incapable of calling things as they are.

The Scottish twat has kept this fantastic run going, a trophy less winning streak going back 26 years.

But have no doubt he is here to change this mentality, so even though our season is now over in the first week of December the special Scottish one has this under control and our world, famous footballing philosophy and DNA is going well and we will win something within the next century.

thank fuck we have the special one, he talks like the greatest manager to ever walk the earth, pity his record is full only of failure after failure.

we could well be in the presence of the worst Cov manager in our history, and by god we should be thankful we are here to share his appalling record

Out of all the cups before Christmas, no idea when that last happened.

Frustration sets in every time we lose. Look you have to accept tonight we were the under dogs and did not expect to win at table toping Bristol fielding a full strength side did we?
So put it into context a little. It's been said we were the better side first half by some distance and unfortunate to be 1-0 down.
A so called stone wall penalty may have changed the game from the sound of it.

You have to judge each game on it's merits not just rant away all your frustrations.

Port Vale is an interesting one. We need more good results now than bad ones. I do expect though we may nick this one on Saturday and that will be two away wins on the trot...something that will change the mood yet again.

I'm not prepared to back the calls for SP to go yet. He needs time and that is a luxury we can give him because we very much look like staying around this division for a while longer. We are not relegation material as much as some of you wish it. Take away the grey clouds for now and see where we are come the end of January. We will know a lot more by then after transfer windows, fitness of players and of the opposition teams.

My biggest fear is bringing on these youngsters Haynes, Maddison and co and then selling them instead of reaping the benefit as they come good more than our current short term results.

I'm not sure what logic you are basing this opinion on, but take a look at our league position. We were recently beaten by the bottom club and were knocked out of the FA Cup by a non-league side. We seem incapable of scoring goals and have a leaky defense. We'll be losing several players in January and don't know who will replace them. We have a below standard goal-keeper and a tactically naive manager. I'd say all the signs are loud and clear and flashing brightly that unless things change and quickly, we will be in a relegation dogfight next Spring.

All I'm saying is, we are 9 points off the play offs.

Not so! You assume none of the teams above us will get any points while we get those three wins. Of course, that will never happen.

When are you going to stop defending SP?

He was crap in Scotland. He is doing the same with us. He has signed the players we have. He chooses the formation and the players in the squad. We are getting outplayed by teams on a much smaller budget than ours. We can't even beat a non league part time club.

I said during the pre season that we were going to struggle this season unless things changed quickly. It was like boys against men. Our players were too small for division 3 football. When a player of ours got forward with the ball he didn't get enough backup. Playing keep hold of the ball instead of trying to go forward. Suspect defending. I was wrong about Allsop though. I thought he looked OK

So what has changed since? We have brought in a couple of bigger players and Reda is playing.......when he plays. I have also found out that Allsop isn't good enough. Otherwise nothing.

So who do you blame? CCC? No. Nothing to do with them. SISU? No. They have supplied enough of a budget for an average manager to be mid table. A good manager to be near the top. Or a poor manager to be where we are.

When SP first took over he had a squad put together by Robins. He did OK with them. But once they were sold/bomb squad/released it became his squad. His players. His methods. And since then we have been shit. He must have signed nearly 40 players already. Most of them either shit, played out of position or not interested for some reason. And subs made at wrong times/wrong players are also costing us badly.

And on our chances of promotion this season. No chance at all under SP. He is clueless. But it isn't over yet. A decent manager could easily have us move up the table. We have been poor for ages. But just 3 more wins out of a bad run would have us up there. This division isn't that good. Two seasons ago some on here laughed at me when I backed Yeovil at 80/1 to get promoted. I liked the way they were playing. They plodded away and made 6th. Then they won the playoffs. I wish he would stop looking for a striker to get him out of the shit and sort out the GK and midfield positions. He isn't going to find a Wilson for free easily. But no. We have to sit back whilst this train crash continues.

Okay, I didn't post last night as in the heat of the moment things can be taken out of context, based on the game last night it was disappointing to know that we wouldn't be in the Area Final, in the first half last night we were superb, I have seen the challenge on McQuoid again, it's a penalty beyond all doubt and at that point it's 0-0, if we smash it in we probably go on to win 2-0, because at that stage we looked like we were brimming with confidence and were playing the league leaders off the park.

I can understand why Pressley chose to start McQuoid, but I felt McQuoid didn't really show much in terms of a threat, the goals we conceded were poor and there are two defensive errors that led to both, firstly the challenge from Reda on Agard in the build up to their goal, he doesn't need to slide in like that and inevitably after allowing Bristol City to pack the box they've scored.. The second goal is woeful and backs what I have been saying for a long time now with regards to Andy Webster, the bloke has let the ball bounce and hasn't dealt with it, it's basic defending in the fact that you don't let it bounce, I wouldn't of mind if he had smashed it into row z, but by letting it bounce they've capitalised.

We went flat after that and I thought we lacked the knowledge to break Bristol City down, Saturday is now a huge game and fair play to all the 900-odd fans who made the trip down to Bristol, we made a lot of noise all night.

Also a shoutout must be mentioned to the Mad Hatters who decided it was right to shout at Reda after the game, we're all frustrated but you can't blame one player signally for all the problems, Reda was one of the better players on the night and that scenario causes more problems than it's totally worth.

Right, I have to admit I would be surprised if any one beat me home to Coventry last night. I got home by 11pm.

It is honestly just the same week in week out. It's very worrying. We can't score goals and are conceding stupid ones.

Bristol city didn't even come out of second gear last night and we probably played the best we could and still lost 2-0 so what when Bristol really want to play? Up front we have nothing I'm afraid hence lack of goals. Madine is imo very overrated and very isolated. No help whatsoever so when he wins the ball there is nonone to carry on. Our best chance of goals is set pieces as we have a big team but no other.

As for the defence well Bristol had 2-3 attacks all first half and one set piece and the ball trickles in for 1-0. Alsopp purely to blame. The guy is shit and any keeper who was half decent would of punched the ball away as it was headed in from close range. He has no confidence and needs to go.

Second half much of the same. They let us attack and hit us in the break. It was textbook and very predictable. Webster and alsopp at the back is just a lethal combo and they always will concede goals. Whilst we are not scoring that means we will lose more matches.

Yes it was top of the league but they didn't play well at all and didn't look interested to me where as we have our all and still got beat fairly convincingly. Predictable I'm afraid. I really struggle for SP. I really like him and want to succeed but he has to go soon. He is on borrowed fine. Tactics are all wrong and players look clueless sometimes.

Port vale on Saturday and its a big game. Lose that and SP may well be off.

Did Bristol need to come out of second gear against a side so short of goals and shots on target? Easy game plan; let us keep the ball to play our tippy tappy backward sideways game then hit us with a cross or punt up field. We will be relegated if we keep playing 'the Coventry way' First time I have to agree, SP needs to go.

How many times lately have I heard that? Although I totally agree with you, and believe that SP should go, I still maintain that there is no-one available who is good enough to take this club forward, waiting to replace him. We shouldn't be changing managers almost every season. We need someone with a proven track record, good formation sense and powerful/commanding on the training pitch and dressing room. I don't think SP is any of that, but we're stuck with him. Sisu's choice. They won't back down and admit they were wrong.

We started both halves really positively, Bristol barely got a touch in the opening 20 minutes.

Unconvincing goalkeeping from Allsop again, can't command his area, can't leave his goalline to collect anything.

And Coventry are shite at defending from set pieces. Every corner Bristol had they won it with a headed shot at goal. A couple of them free headers. And of course, there was the free kick, equally useless at defending.

Usual from Coventry, we concede (against the run of play) and we lose confidence, heads drop etc. When the second went in, in the second half, I think the team just gave up. The substitutions had no impact whatsoever.

That being said, we had great support, were far noisier than the home fans and was a great atmosphere.

Oh well, only the league to worry about now, let's go again at the weekend! :/

20141210_194728.jpg

Oh, and in hindsight (isn't this great): The referee was shocking. We should have had a penalty. And we didn't actually deserve to lose 2-0. Not that this makes any difference!

It was 1-0 when Mcquoid was supposedly fouled I think, Bristol fans seem to think it was a laughable appeal and that the player clearly got the ball. Also Agard started on the bench, it was their wing back Mark Little who was fouled leading to the 1st goal.

Time and again I have backed Pressley, but I can't but agree with everything you have said.

I like his desire and passion, and wanting to try and change the mentality that has clouded the club for as many years as I remember, but right now he looks completely out of his depth.

Hands up, I didn't go to Ashton Gate but can someone confirm the match stats, how many shots on goal did we achieve all night ?.......................If this figure is low again then I'm afraid from the games I have been to then this is core to our demise. I couldn't give a shit how many times we tippy tapped it around for 20 minutes without threat. did we stretch their keeper?

9 shots on goal, 3 on target

no didn't really stretch their keeper if i'm honest

there was absolutely nothing going forward. we played well up to the edge of their box and then we lost possession - that happened countless times - no threat in any danger zone. same old really.

Robbo, what happened between Reda and the fans? Must have happened after I left the stand as didn't spot anything

I couldn't tell entirely as I was getting the flag, but I was told that Reda was being blamed for the result and Reda stated something along the lines of "It's frustrating but we are trying really hard." I just don't like the finger pointing in the face and the constant barrage some people are put under, the fact that the rest of the fans burst out into Reda's chant in his defence shows how out of touch the hatters are if they're blaming Reda for the result..
