I'm surprised the usual protagonist are not filling the board? Did the cat get your tongue after two wins away from home on the trot?
I'm not suggesting we have suddenly turned into promotion candidates but all those dissenters this week and the vitriol for SP and the team, you would never think we could win again yet alone keep another clean sheet?

6 points off the playoffs and the next three looking very winnable surely?

I love the optimism and I've heard a lot of posters now saying just 6 points off the play offs. The only problem I have with this is we are 4 points off getting relegated to league 2 so in theory we are closer to the bottom than top.

A loss today would of been 1 point of relegation but we didn't we won and we need to win a few now. Fleetwood at home at £10 a ticket would be great to get another win.

To be fair a few people have said SP has done the best thing to answer his critics.

i would suggest there has been a bit of praise on here tonight. Not loads, but a bit. I think many are dubious as every win can seem like a false dawn. Another win will begin the play off talks in earnest. A defeat will result in the " 3 points off the play offs" chat

hopefully 2 away wins is enough to put him on rangers list though the 4 year deal and possibly cost of getting him out of it would no doubt put them off. im at the stage where i really dont like the guy and a few wins doesn't change that he still doesnt know his best formation he still doesnt know his best 11 and the chopping and changing is putting us in a hole most weekends before we have even started. doesn't really matter though he could take us to the conference and i don't think Waggott would have the balls to ditch him

I think we are all glad for the win and SP did a good job today with his team selection and substitutions. But let's not forget Port Vale had two penalty decisions turned down and came within a whisker of equalizing but for their poor finishing. Don't expect us to change our opinions based on one result. We are still closer to relegation than the play-offs and we still have a negative goal difference. We have a number of loanees who may leave in January and we don't know who will replace them. So we are happier than we were a week ago, but we aren't going to jump up and down just yet.

i think the problem regards formation is that he has been a student of the game for a good while now but he has been studying the best teams in europe. this is where the problem lies. he has done the same as barca in that he's got the whole club from academy through to the first team playing one formation. a brilliant idea if your a top club attracting the best talent and having a big chequebook to go out and source the right players with the right dna for the club. sadly though its not that easy when your in our current predicament.

Yes we played well today better in the second half but I think we were the top side in both halves today.

I for one like SP and hope he stays good chorus of SP sky blue army today from a majority of city fans.

After all most do see that his hands have been tied...

I've been heavily critical of SP in recent weeks and I'm hoping it comes back to bite me on the arse. I don't care who does it, but someone needs to get us out of this god forsaken league. Small step today which doesn't need to be shouted from the rooftops; the season could still go either way. It's nice to see some positivity for a change. Christmas period is absolutely vital which shall then be followed straight by an even bigger transfer window.

i have major issues with that view mainly due to the fact for someone with no funds/ his hands tied behind his back he has signed alot of players most of who he has then released or bombed. secondly he is obviously very happy with his working conditions or he wouldnt have signed a 4 year extension lets face it he has the perfect job in a lot of ways when its good its all his own work and when its bad its all big bad sisu. we are not the only team in england who are poorly run we've been through more then most with the move to sixfields but on the playing signing side of things there are many teams who take freebies and loans and other managers have done far better with their recruiting. the only manager who has ever had his hands tied behind his back by sisu was andy thorn when they only let him sign 3 players and to get the 3rd they made him sell his best defender

never been a sp fan and nothing has changed

certainly not saying he is our saviour, but 2 away wins in a row gives him a head room. The players were saying "today is our cup final". He needs to get them feeling like that for every game.

I agree with you on point number one but you tell me of one manager who will turn down a four year extension to their contract unless they have other plans very silly comment.

he signed a 4 year extension days after Huddersfield made an approach for him if he wasnt happy in his job he would have turned it down and demanded to speak to Huddersfield

I'd love nothing more than to see SP prove the doubters wrong. He's always done the job with at least one hand tied behind his back and the best players he's been able to sign have always been the best of a bad bunch. So we are where we are.

So we have won our last two away games. Great. Yesterday was much better. But we struggled to beat the team in 23rd the game before. Luck was on our side yesterday. And we have only won two away games all season. 9 points in 10 games. 14 points away from 4th after 20 games. Only 6 wins from 20 league games. We should be happy with yesterdays result. But it doesn't suddenly make him the manager to take us forward. I hope this is a turning point in our season and I am proved wrong about SP. But one result against another poor side doesn't prove much.

Yes, if we can repeat the performance of the last 3 games then we'll be halfway through the season with 31 points. And without the distraction of cup games, we could still make a run for the play-offs. Well, I can dream.:)

I'm sorry but, I can't agree with the "SP is a good manager who's had his hands tied" crap. He's brought in over 30 players and still doesn't know either his best formation or players. IIRC Ian Holloway "Had his hands tied", yet still won promotion to the premier league, albeit for 1 season. For those that say he paid £500k for Charlie Adam from Rangers. That was in the previous summer, and Alex Baptiste from Mansfield for £5k. The rest were loans.

Always good to see us win , steven pressley is not the right man for us though in the long run especially , i have no doubt that will be proved .. But a great win nontherless

The fact is he has had bigger off field problems to deal with than any other manager in our history. To keep us up last season despite the chaos surrounding the club for me he deserves to be given more time. Remember this is a very poor league & if we have a good christmas SP is suddenly a 'god' again

SP seems to have tightened up the defense, clean sheets are always a good thing and as the saying goes 'you always build from the back'. Hopefully we can bring in some creativity and goals in January.
